New Nintendo 3DS!

Last september, I promised myself a nintendo 3DS if I passed all my classes. Well I passed all my classes with flying colors, and got the 3DS system! I also got two games to play: Pokemon white and Okamiden. I haven't started okamiden yet, and I'm close to half way finished in pokemon white. I was also looking up other games for the DS system, because I love variety in game play.

Anybody have DS game recommendations?

RIP my rat cupcake

My rat Cupcake had to be put down yesterday. She was very ill and nothing could be done. I'm not sure how i'm feeling about what happened, but I saw how cupcake's health declined sharply this september. My dad was the one who took her to the vet. In a way I'm glad I wasn't home when it happened, but I'm gonna miss the little fuzz-butt dearly. My parents and I had cupcake since June 2011. We never figured out how old she was, or why she was abandoned in a box. Cupcake was small enough to be held in the palm of my dad's hand when she was found, and had started to reach maturity sometime in July 2011. Cupcake always loved to beg for treats and run around on her coffee table. When dad would sit down in his chair with food, cupcake would smell it and focus her head in my dad's direction, hoping for a treat. Cupcake was very well fed during her life time. She loved clovers and would literally snap up any clover flower offered, devouring it in a matter of seconds. Cupcake brought loads of joy into my household, and will be missed dearly.

Cupcake goes to the vet

My dad and I took cupcake (my rat) to the vet... and boy does she hate going to the vet... She really didn't like when the vet tech took her temperature (took 2 tries because she wouldn't stop squirming (not that i blame cupcake, that thermometer didn't look very comfortable)). Cupcake was climbing all over my dad just to get into her comfort zone. After that the vet came in. He looked at cupcake's lump and said it was benign (the lump did not change at all since i first discovered it on cupcake, still the same size and still completely free floating. the lump is not a problem for cupcake's movement either) and to just keep an eye on it if anything changes. My dad's arms after the visit were covered in marks from cupcake's tiny claws.

worried for my rat

I have an albino rat named cupcake. I've had her for over a year now. Just recently she has developed a lump on her right side. She may have gotten that after she jumped off of her coffee table in an attempt to reach the center table (heaven only knows why). The strange thing is, her lump is not bothering her, and seems to be free floating. My dad called the vet to make an appointment, and the vet said that those kinds of lumps are not unheard of. I just hope it's not serious. I would like to keep cupcake for as long as I can. She was a rescue after all.

a new legacy chapter 4

Nothing is Impossible
The sanctuary disappeared into thin air as Lady passed through barrier. It had been a few months since Lady began her training. It seemed tha very little had changed. Once again she spotted Herla and Gehirn curled up together inside the giant oak. Lady knew she shouldn’t eavesdrop, but she couldn’t help being within listening distance.
“Isn’t it wonderful? One more month and we will become parents.” She nuzzled the giant buck’s face. It was strange not to see the lively vivacious doe dancing around her mate, but if she was that far into her pregnancy she had to be careful.
“I can’t wait,” replied Gehirn as he nuzzled Herla’s face, “The twins will be beautiful.”
Twins? Lady thought, How wonderful! two new fawns in the forest! She chanted a blessing for the mother-to-be from behind an old snag. The spell would ensure the health of the mother and her children when the moment came, protecting them from the all-too-real dangers of childbirth. Neither Herla or Gehirn noticed the floating golden orb as it silently merged with Herla’s pictogram.
Now to restore the ruins. The visions from her dream and the spring showed her every detail of how the old temple looked, inside and out. It was no easy task reshaping the broken stones, cleaning the headstones, making sure the other deer stayed out of the area for their own safety, etc.
She sent out orbs of light to search the surrounding area for a suitable quarrying place. There was none in the forest, so she sent the orbs beyond the edge of the forest. Before long the orbs were cutting thick chunks of stone from a mountainside miles away, and carrying them effortlessly the entire way back. When the orbs returned, lady examined the stones for the best way to cut them into bricks that were the right shape and size. Lady let her intuition guide her magic, and cut perfectly shaped bricks with ease from the enormous chunks of granite.

not feeling so great

I burned my knuckle on a hot glue gun in art class today. I was working on a ramp for a pingpong ball, and forgot where the tip of the hot glue gun was. It's not the worst burn I got, but it still stung like heck. It still stings a little if i flex my thumb a little too far.

Group fun!

I'm holding a little dance party at the drinkplatts! Stop by and join the fun!

Lady Jewel's story part 2 chapter 3

Chapter 3 is finished!

Bright shafts of moonlight flooded through the forest canopy. Fireflies danced above the patches of hyacinths and crickets chirped loudly. The occasional coyote howl drifted through the wood as bats chattered and owls hooted.
It was on nights exactly like this that Lady loved to dance. Now that she could walk on only two legs, her dancing was even more marvelous. She was careful not to leave the sacred grounds of the sanctuary, no matter how badly she missed the herd. Lady danced in the courtyard in the middle of the sanctuary, chanting a little song. She twirled and leaped playfully in time with the rhythmic chirping of a nearby cricket. Lady loved the mysterious beauty of the night’s darkness, even though she was born of light. Her gaze lifted to a break in the canopy where she saw something amazing: The flickering lights of the aurora borealis. She had never seen anything like it before, but somehow knew exactly what it was. The green lights danced and twirled about just like Lady did.
She had been outside since the sun went down, and it was now midnight. Exhausted from her dancing and studies, she stumbled to her book-lined room for a well deserved slumber.
She started dreaming about the incredible dancing lights. Flying with them, weaving in and out of their bright curtains. Lady let out a hearty laugh as she dove through another bright wall of light. She had never felt so free! She flew down through a spiral of green ribbon into the forest below. Lady landed in front of a grand structure. She felt like she knew the area, but the trees surrounding the structure were merely saplings. Not the giant old growth forest she was familiar with. She entered the temple.
Inside she saw a golden-haired young woman. She was kneeled on the floor, peering at a book while tending to a young, tawny colored fawn. The fawn mooed in pain, it’s leg appeared broken.

Lady Jewel's story part 2

Chapter 2! more under the cut

Lady jewel woke up with a start. Her face was covered in dew. The dew never bothered her before, but this was the first time she ever felt it on her skin. It was an alien feeling, the tingling cold condensation dripping down her hairless face. She wiped it off quickly with the sleeve of her kimono, which was also damp.
“Next time I’ll sleep in that old oak tree near the pond,” she mumbled
Lady made her way over to the pond. All at once the sound of frogs and ducks greeted her as she stooped down to drink. Since she wasn’t a deer now, she had to scoop water up to her mouth with her hands. The water felt uncomfortably cold as she plunged her hands into the crystal clear waters. The cold water stung her hands. She had yet to get used to the lack of fur.
Finally satiating her thirst, she gazed at herself in the pond’s glassy surface. She knew most of the deer around the forest had human faces, but she was not used to seeing it perched on such a thin neck, and her shoulders were so wide...
“Lady.”
once again she was jostled out of her thought.
“Yes momma?” she answered instinctively, recognizing her foster parent’s voice immediately.
“How many times do I...” the kirin shook it’s head, “Look, I’ve got something very important to tell you. Follow me.”
Juniper told Lady everything that was said at the meeting. The kirin even showed Lady the ruins where that wicked magician kept Natalee for all that time. It was amazing how the cage stayed intact for all those years! Their walk ended at the drinkplatts, Lady’s birth place, and the location of the giant crystal poppy. She felt a familiar knot in her throat as she recalled her earliest memories. She remembered her mother’s surprised expression as she opened her eyes for the first time.
