The fact that on this community there are so much people from different countries charmed me a lot. So yesterday, while I was doing the shopping, I found myself wondering what kind of foods do you eat during Christmas. In Italy we have the "panettone", the "torrone" and the "pandoro" (these names must sound very funny
) . Do you have these sweets in your country too? Or do you have any others traditional foods? Surely is a silly question, but I'm really curious about
(After writing this I laughed to o.s., because I'm afraid I have confirmed the commonplace that the Italians are always thinking about food xD)
Mmm Christmas food. I live in
I live in Canada and my family usually has ham (sweetened with either beer or honey) and for sweets we have shortbread cookies. Not really national traditional foods per-say, but it's a family tradition.
A traditional thing in my
It's one of the few days of the year that we go all out on food. It's not only Christmas Eve, but also my dachshund Brandy's birthday.
I know Panettone and Torrone
But what's Pandoro
In Luxemburg we have a sort of soft cake with buttercream inside for christmas .
It is called "Buche" . The name is french
You're making me hungry! I
I live in the U.S., and it's our family tradition to have crab legs with butter, a salad, and some crusty bread on Christmas Eve. We usually bake Christmas cookies of various sorts, and sometimes make challah bread (although we are not Jewish).
During the winter months--even though we live in Texas--we tend to crave wintry food, and so make a lot of soups (gumbo, lentil, chicken) and shepherd's pie etc. I can't wait to escape dorm/cafeteria food and get back to the good stuff over break. C:
Argh, you're making me hungry
Here in Denmark we have something called risalamande Which is a kind of dessert traditionally eaten after the Christmas dinner, right before we all dance around the tree... The evening of the 24th~ I love being Danish XD
I didn't expect all these
Therabetha: ohhh ham with beer or honey? It must taste really good! We have ham too, the "zampone" (stuffed pig's trotter)... Excellent family traditions
Quadraptor: Your party foods seem great! And good luck with your parmesan bites! Personally I'm awful at cooking (Ps: a dachshund? I simply *love* those dogs <3 I suppose it was a Chistmas gift?)
Flyleaf: Awww, buttercream! Anyway the pandoro is a type of sponge cake, native of Verona I love it! Just a question: the panettone that you eat is with candied fruit and raisins?
Anjali: Wow... Crab legs? It sounds so creepy! Instead I love soups! (what's a shepherd pie? Poor him! xD)
Chickenwhite: The risalmande really intrigue me, how do you spell the name? (Btw the comic makes me laugh a lot!) You dance around the tree??? I want to do it too!!! 8D
Well, I believe that diversity is a fantastic thing. Thank you all for sharing it!
Thanks for showing me what
And yes the panettone was with candied fruits and raisins
Hi, nice to meet you , we

Vala: Nice to meet you too! Your mini is so funny and vital <3
DayandNight: Australia??? *.* <--(sparkling eyes) Sooner or later I have to visit your country! It sounds to me so odd eating seafoods at Christmas
It's actually just that
Yeah, we dance around the tree and sing Christmas carols, it's the very definition of cosyness TwT
Also, Humon's comic pretty much sums up traditional Danish cooking pretty well, so tread with caution if you ever venture into a Danish kitchen XD Happy Christmas! >w< *nuzzle*
We actually got my dachshund
Thank you a lot Chickenwhite
Quadraptor: Oooops! Epic Fail!
Hey! Can you get on TEF?
Fun to go crazy with Sira and
