The forest was on fire.
Or, that's what it looked like, at least, bathed, as it was, in the last rays of the setting sun.
Crire gave a wry smirk as he beheld the serene landscape, dyed red and orange and with deep, umber shadows to accent the burning highlights. It looked almost like home.
Taking a deep breath, he got up from his place among the rocks of the playground, these few, golden hours his alone, as they reminded him of the one place he so desperately longed to get back to.
He muttered a harsh curse under his breath at the thought of the angels who'd banished him here, then shook the thought away with a toss of his heavy head. He'd brooded over their actions too many evenings already. Now it was time for him to focus, to practice... To regain his powers.
He'd been doing this for a while now, ever since meeting Valturez, who'd given him the key to restore himself to his former self. Focusing intently, he stared at a beaten and broken stump-of-a-tree some yards away, his eyes burning through the dimming light... And in a second, the stump had caught fire. He laughed triumphantly as he watched the flames die out; he was getting better!

Orin had been roaming around

Orin had been roaming around in the forest not sure where to go more or less how this had really happened to him. He could of sworn that he was dead but seeing how his face looked the same as it did when he was human and that he still had a limp and a part of his left ear was missing he was finding it really hard to call this place heaven.

Once or twice he had spotted other deer but he shied away from them not sure what to do more or less say to them as they went about their everyday life. Flicking his ears forward he though he had heard something but shrugged it off and carried on until he started to smell something. Smoke? How was that? So far he had failed to find any other human beings more or less any way to really start a fire aside from a lightning strike. Standing still and looking around it was nearly impossible for him to tell if there was a fire in the area as the sky looked like it was really on fire as sunset carried on it's merry way. But soon enough the smoke finally gave him a path to follow and not wanting to have one of the deer children be caught in it he took off towards it not knowing that someone was starting the fire over at the play ground.

Running as fast as he could with a limp Orin jumped over a fallen log or two before he slid to a stop spotting some deer who looking his direction. On the other side of him the now smoldering log that was still smoking. "Fire?" he muttered as he looked directly at the other deer.

At the sound of another deer

At the sound of another deer galloping towards him, Crire'd immediately turned his attention to the sound and soon, the intruder.
He sneered and gave a huff, eyes still smouldering as much as the stump behind him; he did not like to be disturbed during his exercising.
"No, fish and chips. What does it look like." He grumbled in an ill-tempered tone.
He didn't like the look of this stranger. He looked weak. Weak and flimsy, like those idiotic humans who used to try and resist his power via "love" or "friendship" or something. Those idiots who'd always end up very, very dead only minutes later. Crire's eyes narrowed another millimeter or so as his current powerlessness nagged him with the fact that he couldn't just incinerate this newcomer where he stood.

Orin simply watched the other

Orin simply watched the other who was glaring right at him. Unlike the other deer that he saw roaming the woods this one was red and black and oddly enough looked more demonic than any other deer he had seen.

He couldn't help but flinch at the comment though his ears perked up lightly though he lowered his head. "Oh, sorry. I just smelt a fire." he muttered looking off to the side before spotting the smoldering stump."I'll just go, didn't see a thing." he muttered as he kept a eye on the other as he slowly limped out of the area. Though just thinking about fish and chips made his stomach growl as such a meal sounded wonderful right now. But right now he didn't want any trouble, not after what happened with his death he really didn't want to get pulled in with the wrong people once again.

Though this odd looking stranger did peak his curiosity, since when did the deer here have odd looking scars on them more or less something that looked like wings that were chopped off? Against all logic he stopped and looked back at the other male. "Um if you don't mind can you tell me where I'm at like where I'm really at aside from some woods?" he asked as he got ready to run just in case.

Crire glared at the stranger

Crire glared at the stranger for a second or two, savouring the power his intimidation brought him.
At least this guy was wise enough to rightfully fear him. And his demeanour seemed at the very least humble and submissive. Not a threat to Crire in the least. He liked this.
Huffing, he loosened his tense muscles and swished his twin tails.
"This place? Heh, I'd call it purgatory but without the charm. 'Shithole' is another favourite of mine. Those feathery bastards called it 'The Endless Forest,' though." He huffed.
"You're new around here." He stated flatly, looking the stranger over properly and very visibly judging him and assessing his power. Everything was a competition to Crire, this new meeting was no exception.

Orin blinked when he noticed

Orin blinked when he noticed that the other had two tails but inverted his eyes as to not stare and get in more trouble. Yet he looked up at the other confused as he listened to him before nodding his head.

"I guess you can call it that, one second I had a gun to my head the next I'm here." he said as he made a small face not sure how this deer was going to take it seeing how other deer just looked at him confused and ignored him. Looking down he shifted from leg to leg as he flicked his somewhat ruined ear back as he turned his focus to a small flower that was attempting to grow.

Crire huffed and stepped

Crire huffed and stepped closer casually, holding his head high and looking at the stranger down the bridge of his nose, an air of cruel dominance surrounding his every move.
"Some bloke try and kill you, huh? Hmph, seems like they succeeded." He huffed, by now circling Orin like a hungry shark or a lurking hyena, keeping him in place by the very heat of his glare.
To Orin's woe and misfortune, Crire'd started taking an interest in him...

Orin's heart dropped as he looked at the deer who was now coming up to him. His mind was yelling at his new body to move but all it did was shift ever so lightly to get the weight off of his injured back leg. Swallowing hard he lowered his head and ears as he could feel his fur stand up on the back of his neck.

"Yeah," he said weakly as he watched the other closely before he looked away from the other as he watched the other's larger hooves circle around him. "I guess," he muttered as he tried to move away from the other but didn't. " I think I'll leave you to do, what ever it was you were doing." he said as he tried to take a step forward slowly.

Crire huffed an amused sneer.
"Leave me to my practising, eh? Well too fucking bad, you broke my concentration, mate." He grinned maliciously in that thick, lower-class British accent of his.
"Besides, I don't think you could get away from me even if you tried!" He said, still with that carnivorous grin on his lips as he gave Orin's damaged leg a sharp nudge with one hoof.
He could heal that easily. His healing powers were apparently "good" in the eyes of the angels, so they had remained within him. But he wasn't about to do something like that purely out of the "goodness" of his heart. He'd begun doubting if he even had a heart, which brought him a perverse sense of glee every time he reminded himself of it. For now, he was going to have his fun...

Orin was going to try to limp

Orin was going to try to limp off and out of trouble. But at the comment he winced and lowered both his ears and head as he looked at the other worried. He was in trouble and this time it looked like there was going to be no way for him to escape from it. That was made certain by the sharp push on his injured hind leg.

Orin gave a gasp as he tried to hold back a yelp as he struggled to remain standing as he looked up at the other male who was now looking hungrily at him. "But I can still try," he commented as he suddenly darted off though it was a struggle as every time he tried to push off with his hind legs. He only made it a few yards out of pure fear before his leg gave out forcing him to the ground and to look back for the other.

Crire merely observed the other as he attempted to run away, laughing loudly as he inevitably fell to the ground and sauntering over to him casually with a light spring in his gait. He hadn't seen anyone as terrified of his as this for ages now, and it was continuously stroking his already massive ego like a giant hand to an even more giant cat. He was almost purring when he spoke again.
"Really? That was your try? Peh, you're even more pathetic than I thought." he said, standing over Orin and effectively pinning him down.
"You wouldn't even make a proper moving target..." He grumbled as he remembered the days he'd shoot fireballs at random people just for fun and target practise, when an insidious thought snuck its way into the back of his mind, making him smirk ominously.
"But maybe you have some use..." He purred, looking down at Orin's wounded leg hungrily.

Orin tensed up as he watched the other walk up to him laughing. His heart was beating quickly and he was starting to shake. Being pinned to the ground Orin looked up directly at the buck and swallowed as he lowered himself to the ground not wanting to have himself hurt if he could avoid it. Blinking away the few tears that came to him he swallowed hard and tried to calm himself.

It never failed to have other males hate him and his crying, even when the times would of been normal they hated it. "What are you going to do?" he asked in a meek voice as he noticed that the other was looking down at his leg hungrily. Was he going to be chained up again? A shudder passed though him he didn't want to be chained up once again he hated being chained to one place. "Just let me go please,"

He hardly got to finish his

He hardly got to finish his plea for mercy, though, as Crire unceremoniously interrupted him in a flat voice.
"You want the leg healed, don't you?" He asked curtly, an almost professional, business-like edge to his voice. It'd been ages since he'd last done this, although he vaguely remembered being just as rude and snappy about it back then too. Humans tended to catch on way too quickly if you applied the whole "dark temptation"-routine to a demonic bargain.

Orin was expecting this to

Orin was expecting this to play out like of his past. He was trapped and there was someone else bigger, meaner and ready to hurt him for the simplest mistake. Yet unlike all the other times before he was asked if he wanted help or not. He opened his eyes and blinked a bit as he looked at the grass clump before him for a second before looking up at the buck who was standing over him. "What?" he said quietly as he slowly lifted his ears as a confused yet worried look covered his face.

He was still shaking but his eyes went down to his injured leg and swallowed before looking up at the other before he gave a shaky nod. "I do." he said as he watched the other not sure what to think of what was happening to him.

Crire had anticipated the confusion. Most people gave him that reaction when confronted with such a question, considering the given situation. Or the fact that being an asshole was his equivalence of a polite "hello." Smirking, he looked Orin deep in the eyes, a distant, ominous flame burning behind his pupils.
"I could easily heal it for you, you know..." He said with that hypnotic stare that demanded the other's attention. It kept him in place, forced him to not move an inch... It didn't feel like he had much choice at all, more like Crire was herding him like a sheep towards a butcher's enclosure.

Orin wasn't sure what to say as he looked up at the buck above him. Slowly his shaking started to fade and he simply watched the other not sure what to say as he looked up at him. Crire scoffed

Crire scoffed disapprovingly.
"I just said I could." He simply said sharply, that gaze of his still boring directly into Orin's skull, smouldering and burning. That was not the answer he wanted. Crire was obviously the kind of asshole who could sit around for hours, waiting for the "right" answer, like a brat in a tree house with daddy's keys who wouldn't let him have them before he promised him a trip to the fair and a jumbo ice cream.
Orin had to say the right thing, or the bargain wouldn't work. Saying "please" and "thank you" wasn't enough, he had to promise him something. Something most people were generally rather attached to. But language was such a flexible medium, and Crire was an expert at exploiting it.

This brought an instant smirk

This brought an instant smirk to Crire's thin lips.
"Deal."
A shrill note flew through the air as it crackled with black and blue energy, a shape forming out of nowhere next to Crire's grinning face. It spun around as it materialized and soon formed completely, revealing it to be a pure-white violin with corners scorched black from what could only be assumed to be fire. Intensely hot fire.
It twirled in the air, plucking its own strings twice as the bow separated from the violin itself. Crire smirked, the fire in his eyes wilder than ever as the bow turned in mid-air and flew straight at Orin's injured leg. It embedded itself deeply into his flesh, causing a world of pain to shoot up his spine while Crire still held him in place with his penetrating stare.
But then... The pain subsided. The area around the bow began glowing faintly and then rapidly healing! It cooled his flesh and smoothed out the skin before the bow subtracted, making a long trail of back, tar-like, thick liquid follow it before the hole in Orin's leg closed up completely, the tarry substance sealed behind his skin, presumably.
The pain was gone.
And Crire was chuckling ominously.
"You're mine now."

Orin had no idea what he had

Orin had no idea what he had just done more or less what he had just said as his eyes widen at the sight of the blue and black energy that came out of no where before turning into a violin. But before he knew it the odd glowing violin had changed shapes and was floating right above his leg. Before he knew it the bow had shot it's self into his leg.

He shouted, no more like screamed in pain. This was worse than the time that his last owner had broken his arm for him merely reaching out for food. He wanted to push the other away and run off but he simply couldn't do so. Withering in pain he gasped and moved weakly as he started to feel a cooling feeling spring up from where he was stabbed at. He tried to kick but failed at doing so and was soon laying on the ground panting as he looked up at the other.

This time though there was a pained look on his face as he swallowed and nodded. He didn't want this to happen again. He didn't want to be tied or chained to another but it seemed that it had happened again. Why it always happened to him he would never know. "Okay,"

Crire scoffed and rolled his eyes.
"Oh, don't be such a bloomin' baby. Now get up." He commanded briskly, stepping aside for Orin to get to his feet. He wanted to see if he'd done it right; it had been a while since he'd last contracted anyone, much less healed them. This was needed practise, although he was too much of a perfectionist and egotist to ever admit he'd botched something up. He kept his eyes on the now neatly-healed scar on Orin's leg the whole time, partly admiring his own work, partly scrutinizing it for any mistakes.

Orin was quiet , and at the comment he lowered his head and slowly started to stand as he was finally able to move. At first he was slow to get up, he wasn't sure if he was going to be in pain by moving the leg or if it was going to suddenly give out on him. Taking a deep sigh he slowly started to put weight on it and smiled lightly at the fact that it didn't hurt for him to stand on it.

"So what now?" he asked as he took a glance at the other before he looked off to the side not sure how this new owner was going to treat him.

Crire smirked with a pleased air about him as Orin put weight on his leg, showing the stability of his handiwork. He'd done perfectly. Perfectly, as always. Heh, as if he could ever fail, he thought to himself.
"Not much..." he said, still looking at the leg, observing its every move.
"You've willingly given your soul to me in exchange for a healed leg. I don't ask much of you, only that you obey my every command and follow me blindly whenever I call." He said all this with the same cold, professionally casual tone he'd used when informing Orin he could heal his leg. And when he finally looked him in the eyes again, he was smirking.
"Lucky for you, I don't have time to keep the company of peasants." He spat, though there was some hidden insincerity to his words, as if that superior façade was nothing but just another mask he put on when the situation called for it.

Orin waited as he took

Orin waited as he took glances over at the other deer to see what he was going to say more or less do. Nodding his head slowly he was glad to still have some kind of freedom. Though he wished that he knew what was going to get into before he asked for this deer to go and heal him for his soul. "Alright," he said not too proud to their agreement but listening. Then he noticed that he was looking right at him and was smirking though he shot a hurtful comment at him making him pull his ears back and huff.

"Alright then, but how am I suppose to know that you call or something if I'm not going to be around you the whole time?" he asked not trying to be smart but wanting to know just how things would work.

Crire gave a bemused huff and relaxed himself, doing the deer-equivalent of cocking his hip.
"Easily." He simply said, conjuring the violin once again and plucking those two exact notes he had right before he'd plunged it into Orin's leg.
The effect was immediate; a powerful, tugging feeling nestled itself inside Orin's chest, calling him closer, forcing his legs to move while those two, little notes kept echoing inside his head. His blood seemed to move unnaturally in his veins, as if something was moving against the stream of it, working itself around his body and manipulating him, all the while Crire just kept smirking calmly.

He had tried to fight it but he slowly and stiffly started to walk up to the other before giving a bow to him. As Orin bowed before him, Crire smirked in satisfaction, the aggressive fire in his eyes somewhat dulling.
"Very good. Don't try and fight it." He purred gruffly, making the violin vanish and releasing his mystical hold on Orin's chest, although he didn't ask him to stand again. He was too fond of the sight of someone bowing to him. He hadn't been shown proper respect for ages. His ego had been damaged massively since coming to the forest, making him consider thoughts he'd never before... which was probably the reason for his next actions.
"Tell me your name." He suddenly demanded. Normally, he couldn't care less about the name, personality or life of his slaves, but the forest had changed him. Whether he liked to admit it or not, he was... Rather lonely. Isolation from his previous peers had left him longing for company, even where he'd usually dismiss it. Maybe it was the angelic blood in his veins acting up, but he felt like this buck had been through enough. He could already tell he'd lead a submissive, maybe even abused life. Besides, Crire had never been a cruel master. At best he'd only ignored his slaves and subjects unless they consciously tried to fight him. He demanded complete obedience. In return, he probably left them alone for the rest of their life, unless called upon to do his bidding.
So far, he'd only ever called upon one person in his entire life.

Orin tried to pull himself back up to stand but he wasn't able to stand up like he wanted. Yet he was told that he shouldn't fight it and sighed as he was able to feel the grip on his chest finally release him. Giving a sigh and a huff he slowly shifted to get comfortable though he was slow to let himself out of the bowing form and slowly backed up as he tried to keep his head lower than the other.

Orin gave a sigh and nodded his head. "It's Orin." he said as he looked off to the side. "Is there a name I should call my new master?" he asked as he looked at the ground not looking at the other. How could he even fall for this trick again?

"You may address me as 'Crire,' Lord of the Thirteen Armies, Seventh Duke of the City of Tar and Flame and Prince of the Adversary's Unholy tunes." He puffed out his chest as he spoke, feeling the pride that came with his old title well up inside of him. That is, until the angelic blood in his veins doused his fire and made him hiss in annoyance.

So it had been worse than he already thought it was. It wasn't a simple demon he had found while he was in perhaps purgatory but he had found a demon with so many titles and was now linked to him all because of his leg.

"Alright then," he muttered as he gave a small bow as he turned to leave. "I'll just come when you call then." he sighed as he started to head off his tail and head were held low as he started to head off as the sky was now starting to get darker as the last rays of sunlight was fading from sight.
