{...and without a name, she wonders...}

Hum.

And I thought that this forest is endless daytime! How wrong I was. Look, see the blue moonlight, see the dark sky, see the bats that flitter... See these pretty flicker-flies, dancing with me in the stead of butterflies.
It's lovely. I surely hope this won't be the last time I am able to experience night-time.

I wander hither and thither in the dark forest, and I find myself walking toward the pond... Hum, I wonder what the water looks like, bathed in moonshine. Beautiful, to be sure!
I see many deer gathered there, perhaps with similar mind. Who's that? A deer with candles on his antlers?...

He is sitting all alone at a cliff-top. It seems like he wants a bit of solitude but I, believing politeness comes first, curtsy to him from a distance. He bows, returning the greeting, but my! How he shivers! I want to go over and comfort the poor thing and assure him I am only a harmless middle-aged doe that's going a bit on the plump side, but I decide it's best to go elsewhere. Poor thing. Perhaps we'd be friends, someday, when he isn't looking so solemn.

In the distance I see those strange lights flashing and singing their odd music. I cannot help but be a little frightened of them still; they are the most bizarre things I have ever seen in my life! Hum, really, I am being silly. They do no harm, those lights, so I should get used to them by now, I should.

Who's this? A doe with bones adorning her pelt? Interesting. Perhaps a little macabre. And another stag laying beside her, with a starry pelt and huge red antlers. Hum. I curtsy to them both and the bone-doe rises, acknowledging me with a curtsy back. Together we look out over the lovely rippling pond, watching the moonlight dancing. Oh, how blessed I am to be able to see this beautiful sight with sharp, clear vision!

For a moment, just a moment, my eyes blur. It is odd, hum. Everything fuzzes out and swims before my usual vision returns. Perhaps that was just me. Yes, surely it was. Nothing serious, to be sure.

Hum. I think I'll look about at the other areas of the forest, now.
Well, I never! How had I missed this part of the forest through my wanderings? The grass is especially lovely. Achoo! It makes me sneeze, though. Pity, for it's so very pretty, all the muted pinks and maroons...

Oh! Is that my friend Queze? Hum! I think I shall go and greet him, to be sure. How is he, I wonder? Enjoying the night, no doubt.

Together we play around the ruins and broken walls of the old church. But where are his feathers? The lovely green ones, just like the ones stuck into my hat? In their stead he has brown antlers! My! Hum, I can't help but feel that the feathers were much more fitting, really...

All of a sudden Queze begins to act slightly odd. He paws at the base of a tree, nodding and bowing and asking me if I can return his feathers. Me? How could I do such a thing? He sees me, puzzled, and rubs a tree, quickly eating the pinecone that falls to the ground. I am staring curiously at him when a golden light bursts from his head and surrounds me in a deafening crash of musical sounds!

Oh, horrors! Oh, what is this?! What has happened to my HAT, my lovely lovely violet hat with its turned-up rim and delicate green feathers!! My head feels so odd, so heavy, I cannot bear this, what has happened to me?! I see in a small pool of water the white branches stuck into my head. What are those?! A strange hat! A hard, curly hat made of bone, stabbing into my head! How horrid!
I find the urge to sneeze, and when I do so, the strange white heavy thing disappears from my head, returning my precious hat. Oh, thank the stars! I cannot imagine myself without my hat, my lovely hat.
Queze rushes up to me, stuttering furious apologies. He explains that that was the magic nearly all can cast, and he had been wondering if I would do so to him. Seeing that I did not know how to work the magic, he had tried it on me, but luck had been fickle and given me the huge stags' antlers! Well, I never!

All is forgiven and instead a spontaneous dance party emerges with the appearance of an unnamed stag. I begin to work up the courage to try this magic on poor Queze, seeing as he misses his feathers so dearly. The long-tailed stag is excited when I finally step towards the tree and rub it, the pinecone falling with a thump... I take it in my mouth and chew it slowly, immediately sensing when I am ready to cast.

Hum... Casting a spell really feels quite lovely. It's a rushing, tingly feeling of power through your body, spreading throughout and bursting out from your pictogram in a flash of bright golden light. Hum, and to think I had assumed this was some special god's power only some could bear!

After some time green feathers finally appear on Queze's head. Joyfully we prance around in the fireflies, laughing and rearing. To be sure, Queze is only Queze when he has his green feathers! But soon I am tired, and seek a bit of time laying on the ground. Hum... I suppose I am not as young as I used to be.

The night is peaceful and beautiful, moonshine flickering in rays in the distance. The faint chirping of crickets and frogs is soft and lulling... I think I am fond of the bats, too; such sweet harmless little creatures, snatching up the mosquitos. Are there mosquitos here? There is a pond, indeed, but perhaps none of those nasty little biters. Then what do the bats eat?... Oh dear. Perhaps I am looking into this far too much.

My eyes blur for a moment again. Everything fuzzes out like an old painting. I blink and it is gone. Perhaps there was something in my eye... Yes, surely... Hum, but this is odd...
Rested, we stand, and continue to frolic and wander through the night forest. After some time we come across the figure of the candle-laden blue stag, his bird beak a-shining. But again! He cowers and shivers, my my! Poor thing. He says his name is Corvus.

I spend some time with Corvus and Queze, but sadly they both say they must go. Hum, but I made many memories today, indeed.

Sleep is easy and washes over me, carrying away the worry and anxiety of my blurring eyes...

{...and without a name, she breathes...}

I'm really sorry for skipping out on the events with Corvus and other deer near the end of them meeting. I forgot to take screenshots around then and this was getting really long so I had to cut it out. D8 The Hat Lady is happy to have made a new friend, however!
And I'm sorry this is so late. These actually take quite a while for me, as I don't have a lot of time every day for the Forest...
