13/01/09 - Morag's Diary [imagey]

I woke up gently, but quickly noticed the absence of my brother from my side. I looked round - still hidden under the rocks of the playground, he had left me safely sleeping...he had probably gone to find friends or chase something.

I got up and, feeling thirsty decided to head own to the pond for a drink - my progress through the forest was slow. Unlike my brother, I was content just to walk through the dappled trees, pausing now at then to look around. I neared the pond, but stopped - I could hear movement, far too loud to be the normal forest sounds...then a deep booming call. I stopped behind one of the older trees and saw them, all gathered between me and the water.

My first instinct was to run, to get away from the huge crowd of deer; most of them were adults, and I could see the huge racks of antlers from my hiding place. I wanted to run away, fear chilling me all over and freezing me to the spot...then I could see one laughing, and a few others began to dance. It brought back memories; Mother dancing with Murchen, Father laughing as my brother toppled over, his long fawn legs tangling. I stood and watched, hardly breathing so as not to reveal myself. I needn’t have feared - the crowd was too happy, enjoying each other, dancing; they didn't notice me. After awhile, my legs grew heavy beneath me and I sat, still watching.

Then one approached me; I had barely enough time to register the figure getting closer and closer before I scrambled to my hooves, my back arching and my legs shaking. I thought I saw the deer bow, but I was too scared - I ran. Turning and pelting away as fast as I could. I kept running until the pond was far behind me...so rude, the deer probably thought the worst. I circled around, looking for the Twin Gods statue so I could pay my respects and calm down. I approached the statues and froze again - another group of deer, just over the hill!

I was so focused on them that I was oblivious to a fawn walking up; I felt the tingle of magic and turned, seeing the fawn - before I knew it I was running again.

I was so witless by this time that I hardly knew where I was going, which is how I ended up near the ruins - a place I try and avoid id possible. The skeleton of the old building sends shivers through my skin just being around it. I paused to watch some deer spell-spamming, then trotted off towards the old oak; I thought about curling up inside the cosy trunk of the tree and calmed down, walking away from the creepy ruins slowly. I paused as I passed the poppies, seeing a lone deer sat beside a tree. She was so still, so quiet that I was barely scared...I watched for a moment, before heading away towards the oak.

Far too many deer! I sighed, watching them for a moment before returning to the ruins to watch some of the groups antics - they looked as though they were enjoying themselves, and I wished for a moment that I could join them...

Then I got a littel closer, thinking maybe I might be able to screw up the courage...but close too they only looked larger and scarier. Something in me just screamed; I'd get trampled, or swept up by antlers, or kicked, or chased off..my head hurt from the fear.

I shook the ache from my head and started to leave, thinking I would go and sleep in the playground or by the crying idol [somewhere my brother would find me quickly] but stopped when I passed the lone doe again. She had fallen asleep...I hesitated, then crept forward; circling wide around before lying on the other side of the thin tree, a let out a wavering sigh - she had not woken. I yawned tiredly and, with a final cautious glance around and at my unwitting companion, I lay down to sleep. As I drifted off, I could hear her breathing...it is so much easier to sleep when you're not alone.

[first foray into diary-age...they'll be plenty more, seeing as i'm backd up with piccys of her brother Murchen. Sad I didn't get a piccy of the deer to approach me today, chased me all the way to the playground at one point! XD]

[EDIT : forgot the screenie i took by the oak ><;; silly person i am]

Aww, he's just like Lemon is/was. :'(

She was really scared of everything, especially the ruins. Now she has less than a week to go before she's an adult, so she's slowly getting over her fears. She still can be quite nervous around strangers, at times.

Aww, sounds a lot like my stag (which is odd 'cause he's full grown with huge antlers and is still scared of other deer XD.) I love the second picture, you got a great capture of the body language. :] I hope Morag will shed her fears soon.

Aww... Tiki likes fawns and would have been very kind towards little Morag. (He was the brown stag with the fan antlers and tiki mask at the old oak. Tiki was getting a tad nervous around all those deer was well. He's blind so can't see where everyone is or going, though he never gets lost in the forest since he can 'talk' to trees, lol..
He really likes being around fawns more then adult/teen deer since fawns seem to not care that he's blind or made of wood...
