I feel sort of bad for posting this by itself, but it made me want to pull my hair out while I was drawing it, and now that I'm done I'm sooo relieved, and actually really excited with how it came out. My first pixel animation, and also the most shading I've done on a pixel piece.
Originally it was just going to be a simple dance animation with the one blink, but then it looked kind of stiff... So I added breathing, but only on the back. It looked strange, so I added the other breathing effects. Kind of looks like he's hyperventilating, oh well. But it didn't really help, which I should have foreseen after I tried the same copy paste thing with my 50 frame hello animation. So I partially redrew the hindquarters and shoulders on several frames, and added a tail flick. And of course then with so much going on, the ear looked kind of dead so yeah.
And then, being an overachiever or something, I drew a little pond for him to dance on! Only to notice how odd it was when the ripples didn't move or go away when he lifted a hoof, so I went through and tweaked every frame... ugh.
Ren, why can't your favorite activity be sleeping?!
