*Twig's human updates

(August 9, 2009)

Well it seems that the Universe has given me another factor to dampen my playing of the Forest )x I recently got a job working from 9-5, which took away much of my playing time, and I was excited to get my laptop the other day, because it would make late-night playing easier and more comfortable. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the Forest runs significantly slower on laptops (at least, I don't think it's just mine).
I've been playing with the settings, and I'm having to sacrifice a lot of stuff I would rather not (namely the nature detail. I had to get rid of the treetops )x sadsad). Also, I had to set one of the sliders to "Show some other characters," which also makes me really sad. So, if Ette or Eros are acting strange or seem like they're ignoring you, I assure you that they are not! They probably just cannot see you, and they apologize in advance for any hurt feelings. And, even with most settings low, I'm still getting around 12 fps with no other deer around (before I was getting around 5, and 2 or 3 with other deer around).

Sigh. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I was hoping this wouldn't happen, since my laptop is an entertainment/gaming laptop and is supposed to have a pretty good video card. Ahh well. I guess playing laggy is better than not playing at all. No more spellspam parties for me, though )x And it looks like I'll never get to see an Abiogenesis, unless one occurs when I'm home from college and have access to the desktop.

(also, I'd like to thank the kind deer that helped Ette get one of her sets the other night. Unfortunately, I didn't get a screenshot, and I don't remember your picto, but you know who you are.)

Ette's biography, Finding trust and love....

... is not always easy to make.

(under construction. No picture yet. A couple lovely deer helped me get her set, then my computer crashed the Forest shortly after. Sigh.)

Name :
How to remember her picto : I really have no idea, sorry.
"Name" : Miette
(pronounced either my-et or me-et. She doesn't care, as deer don't talk like we do anyway.)
Gender : Doe
Age : Young Adult
Species : Roe Deer

----
Often seen : Everywhere. She loves to run! But her favorite place is on the rocks in the playground, playing with the birds and her fellow foresters. She also loves moonwalking. No one really knows why.
Set : Real deer mask, gray pelt, and either doe antlers or monarch antlers

----
Personality : Miette is frisky and fun, and she loves to make others laugh. She tries to avoid trouble, but will defend herself or another if the situation calls for it.
Her human "name", Miette, is French for "pearl," which refers to the pearl-colored patches on her body. Her usual pelt ingame is the gray one, though she is actually a piebald, or "calico"-colored doe. They do exist in our world, though it is highly uncommon and has only been seen in white-tailed deer. However, unlike most piebald deer, Ette lacks any other deformity.

a fool at heart - Eros' Biography

Eros

Name :
How to remember his picto : It looks like a backwards E, and there's a swirly that looks like an O.
"Name" : Eros
(pronounced like "arrows")
Gender : Stag
Age : Young adult
Species : Red deer

----
Often seen : Hanging by the pond; he tends to idle and nap under a willow tree.
Eros also loves dancing, and will do so any chance he gets, along with walking backwards in circles (he does this a lot when he's happy and amused).
He always tries to greet fellow deer with a bow, and occasionally a sniff. Likewise, he always bows as a sign that he's tired; if he does so and then runs away (or lays down) it just means he's tired and wants to take a nap.
Set : Red-stripe pelt, purple flowers on antlers, various masks.

----
Personality : Eros is rather socially awkward at times. He sometimes gets nervous around deer he doesn't know too well, but he can loosen up quickly with a little bit of positive reinforcement. He means well, and is generally very caring (though he does have his "don't bug me" moments). He hates fighting, and will run away if challenged (though he will play-fight. If he rears up or flashes his antlers at you, it is always followed by laughing, as a sign that he was joking).
His human "name" was inspired by the Greek god Eros, who is the deity of love, beauty, and lust. As stated before, he is very loving and compassionate. He assumes the best of others, adding naivety to his list of traits, and can get his heart broken easily.
