The Moon Fawn

A long time ago, in a forest far, far away, there lived two fawns. One was the lustrously dappled Sun fawn, who brought the sun in the morning and put it away at night, ready to be brought out again at the dawn of the next day. Then there was the Moon fawn, a hidden, timid creature, who was said to have a pure essence of moonbeams that shrouded her in white dusk, yet she had never been seen before by any adult deer, only fawns could see her. Her job, naturally, was to bring the moon at the dusk, and send it away at dawn, allowing her sister Sun to grace the world. However, there was a single fawn whom she adored, yet he was a normal fawn, and they were forbidden for the Gods to take as mates. So the moon fawn crept into his cave at night, and gazed down at his sweet face, with the bold eye markings and the collection of proud dappled spots that adorned his back. She stayed for every night, ignoring the pleas of her sister to return to the Gods kingdom and pick her mate from them. The fawns grew day by day, and eventually, the Sun and the Moon fawn grew to be beautiful siblings, their beauty sung about by the deer, and passed through legends. The Sun deer had kept her dapples, and her beautiful antlers curved up around a ball of pure flame, matching the fire that streaked through her amber coloured pelt, glinting russet and gold. The Moon deer had grown to be a beauty that outshone the sun, her snow coloured pelt merging into her antlers, which were adorned with deep blue ribbons and curled around her mystically. Her tail had grown like a horses, and flowed down into a pool of silver moons that writhed around her, highlighting her oceanic blue eyes, the colour of the sea at night. Enough about them now, and onto our young warrior, Kali, the beautiful male fawn Moon had gazed upon.
