Roe paces back and forth
a sway of breath shudders each solid footfall
paths merge, and with it company
lines in steady pace
parallel lines find a way to transverse
one is nudged this way and the other that
pairs of eyes- together -track the horizon
finding Velocity, solitary, dignified
attempts at magic
lead an identity crisis to its peak
that line studied its parallel now jagged and ghastly
Roe haunting Velocity, gasping misjudged
that line acted, casting out magic
making Roe into something it was not, and now is
returning to its march
that line followed a while longer, casting again and again
newer and shinier, muted then blinded
sloughing off at tree brush and river crossing
till it was born again.
