Where Madness Lingers (Violence)

Zergarikiaka's picture
It's been almost a week... I'm sure the entire forest knows already. I killed Wesker.

I found him, defiling Laghodessa's grave again. Laughing and ripping apart the soil that covers her remains. I charged from the thick of the forest, and slid between him and her grave. Other deer had gathered around us, taking seats all around to watch our 'show'. I lowered my head, aiming my brow tined toward his heart as I stood over the grave, protecting it from further damage.

"My, My... Some things never change. You put such faith in a grave." He mocked. We continued in a short exchange of taunts and growls, until I finally had enough. Our fight had begun. Antler locking, biting, bludgening of hooves, roaring, and racing. I suppose calling it a show would be appropriate after all.

In the darkness around us, I could clearly see dozens of spirits lingering around us. Lagho was among them, though her presance had faded some from the disruption and disrespect at her gravesite. Why can she appear to any deer she wants to, he questioned? I know why...
It's our bond, and will to communicate dispite the absense of her body, that keeps her spirit here... Even when most of the other spirits give up shortly after death, and dissappear from most eyes.

We battled threw the night, and well into the next day. As the sun rose, we continued to clash antlers before the ruins. The crowd had dwindled to nothing. The spirits continued to watch however... Though did they even have a choice? I snapped off Wesker's mask, leaving his face bloodied, and though he claimed I'd pay... He'd pay for defiling the grave, with the shedding of his blood.

The madness soon took over, or perhaps it had taken over early on without my actual noticing, painting the world crimson and black, and drove me further than usual. He broke away, and I began to laugh hysterically. I chased him away, over the river and into the playground, laughing like a crazed beast. The grass had become as green flames, occasionally licked with purple smudges. The trees were nothing but black pillars and waving black tenticles, dancing in the misty red air. The smell of metal filled my senses, mingled with the scent of my enemy.

I persued him up the large rock in the playground. I could see him growing desperate, fatigued. His blows were growing weaker. He began to slump over, though he insisted on continueing to fight by continuing to lower his antlers. I reared, and smashed my hooves into his antlers, cracking off tines a bit at a time, until they were weak enough for me to break threw. He resisted, and soon I stabbed my single antler threw his heart. Dropped him on the stone and followed up on what I declaired I would in our past conversation...

'When your spirit seperates from your body, look down at your corpse. I shall be devouring it.'

Hnn... It was a satisfying meal. Not just in the sense that it ment the end of my foe, but in the sense that I had been starving for the last few months... I had not taken as much as a bite out of another in a long time. I watched his spirit depart from his body, and roared victoriously. This was the fated outcome that we had set for ourselves. It all came down to this fate - his fate being to be nothing more than a meal and a burning memory.

Looking away from the remains of his corpse, I noticed Absjorn running away. There was also a faw, cowering nearby. I grinned. They both knew what I was capable of... though I do hate to have to strike fear into a doe.

I soon left the playground, cracking up with every movement, completely drunk on Wesker's blood. Soon I made it to the lake, and washed the blood off my fur, then drifted into a difficult slumber.
Twisted dreams crossed my mind. Wesker's spirit, madness, laughter... Cries of pain from more mouths than his. Does hiding fawns away, then throwing challenges. Antlers growing like great bushes, into mighty forests, into mountains of bone, stretching out and all around. Black ivy growing over white bone. Antlers and vines blacking out the red sky. Tendrils shooting from the vines, grabbing all around... pulling, ripping... maggots falling to the ground in place of drops of blood. Thousands of accusing eyes opening in the sky.

Then nothingness... blackness. A voice.
Murderer.
Demon.
Evil.

Another voice.

Thank you, and good riddance...

I awoke the next day, and took to taking a walk in the birch forest. My mind still burned with insanity, but it wasn't as bad. The peaceful air had enough of an effect to bring back some clarity. The smell of blood was still trapped in my snout, leaving a sweet smell. My ears twitched. I heard the movement of a doe. Turning around to face her, I bowed respectfully, and was suprised to see her lowering her butterfly antlers.

"Kaoori?" I questioned. She began taunting, roaring, raising, and lowering her antlers. She was threatening to tear me apart. I was stunned. I lowered my head and sighed. "No... no... I won't fight you." I insisted. I backed away. She continued to taunt. With a sigh, I turned and took several steps away from her, though keeping one eye on her. She knew I was the one who killed Wesker...
I never thought she was friends with that beast though... I tried to not look like I saw her, but I knew she was there.

I sat down, and closed my eyes, trying to ignore the taunts. If she were a stag... I would not stand for this.

-----
A fawn skipped energetically at the side of a massive stag. His brilliant red antlers spread out like great wings, his pelt was a beautiful array of golden swirrels, and his face... both stern and handsome, and long like that of a 'real deer', though his eyes were akin to that of a human. A deep hazel, in color. The fawn had only the start of red points over his brow, and his pelt was bronze, with the start of golden swirles. They had the same facial shape as well.

The great stag was speaking, and the fawn asking questions... but what were their words? Yes... they were words that were not to be forgotten, though the listener was more intent on venting energy.

"How'd they get here? Did the gods use some cool magic to make them? Can we use the same magic? Why do they exist?" The fawn asked in rapid succession. The great stag chuckled, and looked down at the prancing fawn. "Orion, if you want awnsers, you'll need to ask one question at a time or they'll be missed." The stag laughed. His expression softened slightly, before he spoke again. "I actually don't have all the awnsers, but I can tell you this. It doesn't matter how you view other stags. They are our brothers, our cousins, our distant family... however you want to see them. Does however... you must always cherish them, even if you don't understand or agree with them. Never lower your antlers to one, not on your life. Never allow yourself to show even a trace of aggression toward them... they're more wonderful than any magic of this world." he spoke. The fawn stopped bouncing for a moment, looking up at the stag. "... Yes dad..." he stated quietly, then resuming his energetic bounding.

-----

I opened my eyes again, and snorted uncomfortably. She was still roaring and taunting. I stood and slowly walked toward Kaoori. She began to back away, lowering her antlers again. I shook my head. "I won't harm you." I repeated. "You killed Wesker! How can I believe you won't do the same to me?" he challenged. I hung my head. "Don't judge before you know what happened." I sighed, then laid down in front of her, keeping a full gaze on her. "I know you're mad... Strike if you must, but I won't retaliate." I weezed. She started backing away, hanging her head. She seemed confused. "Really. Go ahead." I insisted. She eventually walked away. I returned to the lake, and was soon met by Bastilion, and Tamberline. I could tell Bastilion knew what happened, and that he dissapproved of murder... His stare was enough to get that message across. The lake had grown crowded, and left Tamberline and I without any peace. Stags tried to crowd us, and follow us. Others instigated us, and pushed Tamberline into fighting.
It really was a fusterating moment in time. I wanted to join in, and beat those deer off us, but I've already caused enough damage this week.

The next day I returned to the ruins, and soon noticed Virgil, as well as other deer hanging around. A nameless had chosen to sleep on Lagho's uprooted grave, but I chose not to grow angery. It wasn't harming her... Instead I chose to lay in the poppies until Virgil was a bit closer. I approached him slowly, but he began to back away when I came too close. I grew fusterated, and eventually tore away from him, running an aggrivated lap around the forest before returning to the forest. Walter had joined Virgil after I departed, so I kept a distance while they spoke. Virgil left. I started to walk off, and was intercepted by Walter. I bowed to him respectfully, and we sat together for a time. Eventually he led me to the lake, and we crossed over.

Walter then engaged in a fight with Anko... I stood there, unsure as to wether I should have joined or left... eventually settling on sitting and watching.

Hnn... I still don't know the point of that.

I simply shrugged it off and fell asleap again.

The next day I woke at the Ruins. I wonder if this was one of Aves's tricks again... moving me in my sleep. Hrnn...
I started to walk toward the lake, hesitating when I noticed Virgil in the distance... running around with the devout pelt on. He ran toward me, and right past. I shuddered.

That pelt... it's like a virus.

I decided not to let it get to me. I made it to the lake and sat, allowing myself to relax dispite the other deer that had gathered.

I wasn't long before my skin felt like it had been struck with a bolt of lightning. I sprung to my feet and saw my reflection in the water. The DEVOUT PELT... It was on me!

I screamed in rage, and sneezed it off as quickly as possable. No, I couldn't wear that pelt! Lagho's murderer wore it... It would insult her memory! In a blind fury, I ran out of the shallows and to the highest point of the lake. I shuddered desperately, grumbling to myself.

I couldn't wear that blasted pelt...
Never.

Virgil soon approached me. I turned my head, then faced him fully, offering a bow. He didn't bow back. Instead, he began to taunt, and lecture. I backed up in suprise. Yesterday he wouldn't even go near me, now he was letting his anger out. I sighed. "Virgil... really, don't judge before you know-" I was cut off. He lowered his antlers.
That normally being a tick for me... I tried to resist my nature... "Hnn... I -know- murdering is aweful... but... Hnn... Sorry. It was unavoidable." I sighed. He calmed down. We sat for a moment, before he led me to the playground.

Led me to the rock where Wesker's corpse still remained. He bowed to it and morned, then looked at me. He demanded I do the same. I bowed and sighed, but I do not regret my actions. If I let him live, he'd have killed me. How could I explain this to Virgil? He finished his chastisment, and finally traded a nuzzle, I suppose to show that we were still friends. We sat together for a while, until The Fawn appeared.

I greeted The Fawn, but dissappeared shortly after. When I returned, I was met up with Scarecrow. I let myself slip into madness, and lept around with him. We laughed and shook the forest at its roots. Soon The Fawn found us, and I ran to her and her friend...
Who happened to have been Walter's opponent the previous day. The Fawn seemed frightened by Scarecrow... I nuzzled her and told her he was alright, and soon we were all leaping around the playground, laughing like hyennas. Amary soon joined us, and in time we left for the birch forest.

Hnn... it was peaceful there, but there were more deer than usual in the forest. A stag with a peacock pelt and trumpet horns, and skull mask, stalked us with two fawns. He stayed away, and seemed frightened. The Fawn seemed uncomfortable, and we all began to just sit around and occasionally stand guard to keep her safe. Eventually a fight began to break out between our stalker and Anko. The fawn began to get upset, and after some work trying to prevent further fighting, she demanded to be alone to think. Anko didn't seem to get the message, but I did. I stood between Anko and The Fawn, giving her time to leave... but Anko soon persued her. I gave up, said goodnight to Amary, and took to rest.
