Somewhere in a Blistering mind, the darkness falls, leaving naught but fear to accompany. He wanders here, caught in the tide of raw emotion that swings past the eye of indifference. All of THEM seem to him nothing more than gnats on an elephant. Distractions. He possesses them entirely, or so the young one sees. Mocking. Teasing. Accusing. All fingers and hooves marking the way to blame. And the blame rests on the little three-horned head. Eyes rolling in terror, he searching out that one that he has wronged. Seeing him - calling him. Receiving no response.

"I'm sorry!" he calls. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Hear me! I'm sorry!"

But the phantom walks even further and faster, as if running from his calls of remorse. Regret. Repentance. It was his fault the spirit became in the first place, and now again he returns to mock and harass and harm. Possessing the ones the three-horned one sees as friends. Kaoori with her beautiful voice and caring nature. Kaoori with fawn inside her. How dare he!? How DARE he accuse from inside one so sweet and gentle!

Threaten, rear, charge, scare. Anything to drive him out. See him bowing his head. See him cocking an eye. See him even winking and laughing. Laughing at the desperation. Laughing at the attempt. He will leave when he is ready. But he does. Eventually. Leave, and trot off, bellowing the nameless, soundless accusation of the former lover and mate. Bending more and more to his will. He makes the trees talk. He makes them become what they are to the pink eyes that stare to them. Mother. Father. Brother. Sister. More. Sinister friends, and cherished enemies. But then they are bark and branches once more...

But now he is in the Riddler! The storyteller. The friend whose name speaks only Silence. And he must chase him out. It is his task. Chase, Chase, Chase. Rear, Flail the hooves, attack! Try and drive him out, out, out! Watch as he flutters away, turned into a butterfly, to appear again in the guise of another. Again! Oh Saosin... Do you realize? You bear him again with you. Cannot bear to drive him out. Not where he belongs. Half-hearted bellow. Circling the darkness. Backward, forward, deciding... Running. Cannot face you with him inside. Cannot look into the face of friendship and see the fallen one. Cannot! Cannot! Cannot!

And Virgil too. Virgil. Sweet, caring, loving Virgil. He has the monster too. Oh where is he gone now? Can he not see the three-horned one is driven in circles... calling... looking... staring... floundering in his own guilt.

Why have the gods done this? Sent him back? Punished? Accused? Or is it the gods at all?
