The Two-Way Challenge [Artists/Writers]

Alecsander's picture
Now that I have finished my example piece the challenge is ready to be revealed.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to write or draw a piece based on the content of another user.

But what does that mean!?

ARTISTS: You must choose a piece of literature written by another community member and 'illustrate it'.
WRITERS: You must write a piece inspired by a drawing or screen shot submitted by another community member.

Obviously we have to have some rules so they are as followed:

ARTISTS:

You cannot illustrate your own piece. The point is to give someone a gift of art for the written piece. That is somewhat senseless if you just gift yourself.

The piece CANNOT already be illustrated.
In-Game screen shots do not count, but if they are manipulated or edited they do count as art.

Biographies only count if there is no other art present on it. I would, however, prefer you do not just draw someone's deer and be done with it.

You do not have to fully scene by scene illustrate. If there is a lot going on in a piece you can choose to do only one moment or a particular passage.

It can be any type of writing. Role-plays, poems, prose, stories, etc. As long as it is a written piece then it is fair game.

Take as long as you need. This is not a race.

The writing must have been posted to the community site. This is for ease of my linking and also keeps the challenge within the community.

One person per story. This goes for writers also and will be repeated. Only one person can 'claim' a piece of writing. When you have decided on what piece you want to illustrate then leave a comment and I'll add your name and the link to the inspired from piece. When you are finished your name will have an accompanying link to your art.

Screenshooting/acting it out count. Feel free to dress up however many deer are in the piece and 'reenact' the writing. I only ask that you somehow document it with screenshots or record it. I am sure the writer would also like to be present during the performance.

You must note the source. Link to the inspiration piece in your blog entry.

You can only 'call dibs' on one piece at a time. This prevents one user from taking on too many pieces and lets everyone have a chance at getting one they really want.

-------------------------x---------------------------------------
WRITERS:

Your task is to write for a piece of artwork created by another community member. This can be a screenshot, edited screenshot, picture, concept, fan art, sketch, whatever.

You cannot write for your own artwork. The point is to feature/gift another community member.

I would prefer you write about the character in question if one is featured. For example: The piece I picked was an edited screenshot by Lurvis of their deer Draum.
I wrote the story from Draum's perspective.
You may have your deer in the story, but don't make it revolve around them.
If the picture does not involve a named deer than please somehow incorporate a 'nameless' into the story.
If it is just a landscape then you can do as you wish.

You cannot write for art that already has a story/poem. If the piece already has some sort of writing that accompanies it then please do not use it without the expressed permission from the artist.

Write however you want. If you feel inspired to do a poem, then write a poem. Did a story jump out at you? write a story! The possibilities are endless.

The art must have been posted to the community site. This is for ease of my linking and also keeps the challenge within the community.

One person per artwork. This was repeated above for artists. Only one person can 'claim' a piece of artwork. When you have decided on what artwork you want to write for, leave a comment and I'll add your name and the link to the inspired from entry. When you are finished your name will have an accompanying link to your piece of writing.

TO ARTISTS AND WRITERS:
If you 100% do not want a writer or artist using your piece for inspiration in this challenge than Please comment and I will make a note right here that your work is off limits.

The following community member's submissions are off-limits for this challenge at their request.

Serenai

TO ARTISTS/WRITERS:
Do one. Do both, I don't care. Just don't over-exert your muse. You may have ONE writing and ONE art piece reserved at a time.

----------x--------------
My example:
I choose this edited screen shot Entitled Catching Dreams by Lurvis featuring their deer Draum.

Here is the inspired writing by me:
Dream Catcher

---------x-------------
But but..I don't write OR draw!!

Can you praise?
Can you read and look at art?
Do you appreciate the efforts of the community?

Then I think you are a great candidate for a spectator/commenter!
You hold the very important task of supporting and raising the moral of all participants.

-------x--------------
New-added for clarity
TO ARTISTS/WRITERS:
A piece that another community member has called 'dibs' on is only off limit until they submit their finished work. Once their entry is added here the inspired piece is open to be used again up to 5 entries.

This isn't to stunt your creativity, just to ensure we don't have 6+ people gift bombing the same user's picture/writing since it gets a bit monotonous after a while.

Participants and their pieces
All pieces listed here with [Pending] in the name are taken and OFF-LIMITS. This is done on a first-come first-serve basis so if you know a particular piece you should sign up early.
You may participate as many times as you want.
If you decide to drop out for whatever reason you forfeit your inspiration piece.
and we will all be very very disappointed in you.
