Cerelia sighed. Today was very warm, the snow seemed to melt a little more every day. Mud was showing up in big patches, and everything just seemed wet. She was lying on her orange, decorated back, looking up at the clouds. They were interesting today. She loved watching the clouds, ever since she was a little girl.

Mercutio trotted up to her, "Cerelia, Cerelia... How long must you gaze up at the sky uselessly?"

Cerelia shot him a look, then huffed, "Thou must try it, brother, perhaps it would bring thee some inner peace." She rolled over to sit normally, and continued the conversation with her brother for a few more minutes. Before long, he left, leaving Cerelia all to herself.

An Argus-pelted stag watched Cerelia from a distance, his almost-black eyes focused on her. He was resting among some ferns between two trees, hoping that noone would bother him, that noone would make him abandon his little comforting "nest". However, he did plan to leave it soon.
Tybalt wanted to speak to Cerelia.

Cerelia caught sight of one

Cerelia caught sight of one cloud, in the shape of a long-faced deer. It made her smirk at first, many deer had either long faces or a long-faced mask. She watched it slowly move by, thinking of all the deer she knew with long faces. It didn't take too long before he landed on him. He had a long face, too. She didn't notice it often, only when he was right next to her brother, or some other Montague. Her white pupils twinkled against the black of her eyes.

She yawned. Enough of this, she needed to do something more useful. She flopped back onto her side, then climbed up onto her legs. A breeze flew by her face, carrying various scents. One was very familiar. She turned her head, spotting two towering antlers in the distance. She smiled, a faint blush coming to her face. She was rather glad Mercutio left.
---

Tybalt's dark eyes

Tybalt's dark eyes brightened when Cerelia stood. He, too, rose to his hooves, standing majestically a distance from the doe. He wasn't sure whether to be the first to move, or to keep his pride and wait for her to come to him.
Tybalt half-smiled. He hadn't changed.

Cerelia smiled, scuffing a hoof slightly. She knew he noticed her. A devilish look came into her white pupils. She lifted her tail slightly, and trotted away, over to the Crying Idol. She passed through the tall grasses and poppies, and finally met the idol.

Cerelia padded down into the water, shivering slightly at its cold touch, then dove into the two streams. She hadn't bathed in days. It felt great to wash all the dirt away. She looked to see if the stag had come closer, and continued to bathe, taking in deep breathes of fresh air.

A frustrated look came over Tybalt's face as he watched the doe trot away. His head and tail rose automatically, and he followed her quickly, eventually stopping at the river, and looking down at the doe.
"Good morrow, fair Cerelia." He murmered.
His usual greeting.

The doe raised her head

The doe raised her head slowly, her back turned to him. She smiled, but it faded slightly when she turned around. "Ah, Tybalt!" She looked around and shuddered a little, "Oh, do excuse me..." She crawled out of the water, climbing onto dry soil. She shook out her fur, shaking out her small mane a little longer. She threw her hair back, keeping most of it out of her face. Then she turned to him, smiling warmly. "What bringest thee to this area of the forest?"

Tybalt narrowed his eyes and turned his head away as a few droplets of water splashed onto his long face. He studied Cerelia's features for a few moments, silent, then snapped out of his almost-trance-like state and answered her.
"T'would seem my gaze was drawn to thee." The golden-brown stag frowned, tempted to simply blurt his feelings out to the doe and be done with it.
However, words could not truly explain them for Tybalt.

"Thy gaze?..." She looked up at him, a faint, unviewable blush forming on her face. She scuffed the ground again, "H-how interesting..." she muttered. Her heart seemed to speed up a little. The Forest seemed brighter for a moment, but she didn't really notice. All she saw was him. What was this? She remembered this kind of feeling from long, long ago, when she was still human. She couldn't even remember who it was for. She knew not to be too overtaken. "How fairest thee this day?" Was all she could find to say.

Tybalt pawed the ground for a brief moment, turning his antlered head away from Cerelia. His heart was racing, and he wishes that it wouldn't; the thumping was starting to irritate him.
"All seems well...But how hast thou fared?" The stag tilted his head, once more looking at Cerelia's eyes, which reminded him a little too much of Mercutio.

Cerelia smirked at his shyness. She knew he wasn't normally like that, she found it rather cute he was trying to be more polite around her. Or was it something else? She knew with other does he acted normally, what made her so different? Maybe she could find out... "Ah, the days have all been the same. I cannot keep track of what happened when!" She looked into his eyes, and noticed he was doing the same. But there was an aire of pensiveness. Oh, blast those eyes... "Art thou worried about Mercutio? He is not here, thank the heavens. He just left to feed..." She turned her head slightly in the direction of the Ruins, where she and Mercutio usually grazed.

Tybalt snorted at the mention of his rival, and Cerelia's brother. He, too, looked in the direction of the Ruins for a moment, and the light breeze carried a familiar scent to his keen nose.
"I pray he does not return for now." The stag muttered, glancing at the ground. He dipped his head, but looked up at Cerelia with his eyes.

Cerelia chuckled, as if she wanted Mercutio to come. "Indeed... He can be a bit of a bother sometimes, but..." She blinked, seeming to remember something, "I wouldn't have him any other way..." she said, almost in a whisper. Cerelia flicked an orange-tipped ear, her brow furrowing only slightly. "Pray thee, Tybalt..." She turned to him, "Why dost thou and he fight? What happened to make the two of you rivals?" She already knew, but it was from Mercutio's point of view. A story didn't mean much with only one side, at least to her.

Tybalt's ears flicked for a moment, and his head rose slightly, his tail doing the same. He'd automatically become defensive, but answered Cerelia's question despite this.
"...Mercutio hath long been an ally of the Montagues...And of course, Romeo had offended me; what could I do but challenge the fool to an honourable, fair duel?" He hesitated, then continued. "But when that time did come...Mercutio...Interrupted, and he and I both sparred and fought....Until..."
He was quite sure that Cerelia knew what had happened.

So, 'twas not originally meant for you two, but this Romeo person instead? And the consequence being.... Mercutio's death..." Her eyes seemed to glitter, tears forming in their black corners. "Was is intended?..." She looked up to him, "Didst thou slay my brother on purpose?" she pleaded, wanting an answer. What would it make him if it was on purpose? A brute, a murderer, someone she had clearly mistaken... She prayed for him to deny it.
---

She didn't want to look like a fool in front of Tybalt.

Tybalt lowered his gaze, his ears drooping. He then looked up, tilting his head and moving quietly to Cerelia's side, looking sideways at her. The stag frowned; was Cerelia weeping?
"Forgive me, fair Cerelia."
The apology was very quiet, almost timid. Tybalt rarely apologised for anything at all.
But the pain he knew he'd caused her...It made him feel...guilty.

She let out a soft smile, "Let us forget the matter, 'tis a grim topic for such a beautiful day..." She looked around for a moment, "Shall we go for a stroll? I'm actually quite famished, perhaps we could stop by the blueberries..." She shrugged, smiling.

It wasn't long before they found the blueberry bushes. Cerelia sighed happily, trotting over to one side of them. She dipped her head, chomping up a mouthful of blueberries. She chewed, raising her head happily, waiting for Tybalt to make the next move. Tybalt was acting very strange now. More than he was before. There was something there, she knew. And she felt like she felt the same.

Tybalt looked nervously at Cerelia, watching her eat the blueberries joyfully. He slowly lowered his head and nibbled on the berries delicately, the fur on his neck hanging down. His antlers caught on a few of the stems of the blueberries, and when he rose his head, they were twisted around the intricate ivory bone. Tybalt frowned and attempted to shake them off. He didn't want random fawns or birds trying to chew his antlers.

Cerelia laughed, taking off, looking behind once in a while to see if he was still following. They ran for a few minutes, but Cerelia caught one hoof in something and tripped. She toppled to the ground, skidding slightly to a halt. She lay on the ground for a moment, then let out a soft groan as she picked herself up. She saw her daffodil was crushed and torn on the ground before her. Her heart sank a little, but something caught her eye. She slowly looked up, to find Mercutio directly behind the shredded flower. She gasped quietly, then sighed. "Oh... 'Tis thee, brother..."

"Aye, 'tis me. Art thou alright? That was quite the..." Mercutio's eyes trailed up, to see Tybalt not too far behind. "Cerelia... is this one bothering thee? That's why you were running, is it not? Fear not, I'll drive him away." He spoke angrily, stepping front of Cerelia defensively.

Cerelia glared at him, "No, brother, do not lay one hoof on him!" She stepped in front of him, shoving him to the side slightly.

"Please, do not hurt him, nor fight him. He is not what thou thinkest."

"I do not think, I know. And I know that he is a lying, bloodthirsty hound." He scowled at her, "He has clearly entranced thee as well! I will not trust one who has taken my life!"

"'Twas not his fault!" She shouted, glaring. She calmed down a little, "It was... not his fault. 'Twas only an accident..." She backed away from him, going towards Tybalt.

"Why do you defend him? Thou art putting him infront of thine own family! What parasite has taken thee so?"

Cerelia only looked at him with pleading eyes, hoping he would calm down and understand. Why was he so irrational? Was it so hard to look from someone else's point of view? She continued to back away, until she was almost next to Tybalt, but still a little in front of him. Mercutio's ears lifted, and he began to breathe heavily. He didn't quite know what to feel now.

Tybalt flicked his ears

Tybalt flicked his ears absentmindedly, his dark eyes fixed on Mercutio, though he was aware that Cerelia was close to him. He didn't want the two to quarrel so; it would only make things harder for everyone, including himself.

Mercutio didn't say anything. What could he say? Tybalt wasn't even doing anything. That wasn't like him at all. His furious glare turn to an almost fearful gaze. His black eyes were wide, expanding beyond the holes on his mask. He took a step back, unsure of what to do.

"Brother..." Cerelia came over to him once more, and leaned her head on his. "We've all been given another chance at life. Is this not what should be done? Forget the past, we are here now. Perhaps it is time to make ammends."

Mercutio, staying still while Cerelia spoke, immediately backed away from her after she spoke. "Ay me, sister, 'tis easier to be said than to be done. As for this, I might understand some day. I have not seen thee grow, and therefore I should not assume. But do know, Cerelia, he may just turn on thee. And when he does, I'll be ready." He turned around, scratched the ground a little with his back hoof, and took off.

Cerelia lowered her ears a little, then turned to Tybalt. "I apologize... I did not want thee to see that... Mercutio can be..... Well, thou knowest already..."

He gave no reply to Cerelia, but merely bent his knees and rested on the ground near her, but not as close as...
As he'd liked to have been.
