A Stranger to a Dead World

Under the cut

"What?"

Zera opened her eyes, waking up gently.

"What? Who's there?"

She sat up. She was in the forest - wasn't she?

No.

It was too dark.

There were no sounds.

No hoof beats.
No bird song.
Not even the rustle of leaves

Each tree was just a sharp splinter of wood.
Prickly and dangerous.
So much different to usual.

She got up.

"What's going on?"
A small whisper, but it seemed so loud in this place

Because...

...This place obviously wasn't the forest.

She walked.
The ground was bare but grew grass as she touched it.

Pity it withered and died as she walked away.

"Brother? Erza are you here?"
She called out into the darkness hoping to be heard

Even though she knew, in her heart, the hope was in vain.

"Hello? Is anyone there? Phion? Quad? Honeyfur? Spirited One?"
She called out the names of her friends.

Surely someone was here.

She was right.

In a way.

To her right there was a noise.
She turned.

"Spirited One! Oh thank the - "

She stopped short.
Something was wrong.

"Spirited One? Wha- "

The doe charged.
So shocked, Zera had frozen even though her mind was screaming for her to run.

The fawn knew she was going to die.
She had seen Spirited One fight

- And Zera was no match.

Her small frame cowered.

If her eyes had been open,
She would have seen the charging doe's own eyes glow red
She would have seen the charging doe falter
She would have seen the charging doe turn to ash.

As it was, her eyes had not been open and she had not seen any of that.
All that happened was that she opened her eyes to see the psuedo Spirited One gone.

Still immenely shaken by this, she fell to the floor, sobbing.

All alone
In a world she didn't understand.

"What is going on?"
She said through gritted teeth and salty tears.

I am.
A rasping voice from everywhere.

But also nowhere.

"Who is?"
Ever so terrified but determined not to show it, the fawn stood, ready to face the mystery being.

I am the light and the dark and the grey.

I am the sun and the moon and the stars.

I am your daydreams and your nightmares.

I am everything - but nothing.

I am everyone - but no one.

I am you

((NOTE - I know Spirited One has been "killed off", but I just needed a character that Z was fond of to create this effect. However, being dead had helped immensely - Not that Z acctually knows Spirited One is "dead". Also, this has nothing to do with Iugulare or any other TEF villian - even of it does sound like it!

Anyway, more comming later, will be posted as comments - there might even be a chance for some RPing))

Elsewhere, in the real

Elsewhere, in the real forest...

"Z? Z, wake up!"

Erza was getting worried now. Why wasn't his sister waking up?

He gave her a sharp nudge and took a step back as his tiny, fawn sister opened her eyes.

But her eyes weren't her eyes - well, they weren't her normal eyes.
The whole of it was milky white and light grey, the colours swimming around just as oil does in water.

Zera leapt to her feet and snarled a noise that Erza knew wasn't deer.
She reared and ran as soon as she hit the ground, the thunder of hoofbeats signalling the leave of Zera from her brother's life.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Inside the Psuedo Forest...

The whole place shook.

Trees fell, splintering into hundreds of pieces.
The fawn skittered back, yelping as she tried to avoid the sharp points sticking from the ground

"H-hey! Mystery Voice thing! Tell me what's happening!"

The shaking subsided

A bit.

The fawn managed to regain her footing.

"Talk to me! What in the Gods names is going on!?"

All she heard was laughter.

Deep, manic laughter.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Back in the real forest...

Erza was running.
He was looking for Z.

Z, the fawn that had ran from him.

Ran from her big brother.

He spotted another group of deer, and plucked up some courage.
(For Erza was wary of anyone other than deer he had got to know)
He ran to them, sketching his little sister's pictogram on the ground.

"Have a seen a fawn with this picto?"

When they all shook their heads, he said a wistful thanks and ran onward.

((That was longer than expected, haha ^^'

Anyway, there's no need to worry! Z won't actually fall out of Erza's life - I have a vague idea about what will happen Smiling ))

It felt like she had been

It felt like she had been there for days.

The voice she had aptly named Rasp hadn't spoken since the mysterious shaking, so Zera had gone exploring.

She found the playground made of sharp, perilous rocks which would kill any deer that set foot on them.

The Oak had fallen over, severing into jagged pieces.

The ruins were no longer ruined instead, a huge forboding building stood in it's place. The ugly sight of it made the fawn shiver.

She found half of the Twin God's Statue strewn on the floor, in seven seperate pieces and the other half had moss and ivy slowly winding it's way up it.

Worst of all was the Crying Idol. A crimson liquid was flowing steadily from it's eyes, filling the pond.

Zera was sure it was blood.

This was the thing that set the fawn off. She ran to the ruined statue and fell to the floor.

"Oh Gods! Save me! Help me!"
She called to the only beings who she felt could help her.

Then the voice finally spoke. It seemed to whisper so close to her ear.

Yet it was so far away.

No one can help you here

Zera stood and faced the sky.

"What do you want with me!? TELL ME!"
She yelled at the mystery voice, her anger drying up the tears.

Unleash potential

((The biography of "Rasp" is

((The biography of "Rasp" is here))

Anger still surged through her limbs.

She wanted to feel the grass and the trees and the light.

She wanted to see other deer and drink water and sit near someone warm.

She needed to see her brother.

You will never get out. I am you. I Am You. I Am You

The fawn turned a circle and pawed the ground gently.

Things were starting to make some sense

"You've said that before... Me? How can you be me?"

I know your pain and your sorrow and your fear.

I know your weaknesses and your strengths and your morals.

I know your victories and losses.

I know your life.

The Gods gave you something special.

Is it a curse or blessing?

Curse or blessing? Curse or blessing?

The three words whirled through her mind. She had heard them before.

Hex.

Really!? Kinda spooky... I'll have to read what you come up with ^^

Anyway, will probably set up the RP soon, but for now just more that properly explains what's going on Smiling

----- ----- -----

It was all falling into place.

Everything the voice had said, the shaking and this dark and twisted version of the forest.

She had been here before. She was sure of it.

Curse or blessing?
Unleash potential
Everything yet nothing.
Her daydreams and and her nig-

That was it! How could she not have realised?

Her nightmares.

Night after night her dreams were plagued by this violent psuedo forest
Morning after morning she woke up shivering and drenched by a cold sweat.

But how could Rasp have known?

Zera carried on thinking about everything Rasp had said. His ominous voice ricocheted back and forth off the wall in her skull until the answer came.

It was her. It Was Her. It Was Her!

Zera ran a small circle, laughing.

She quickly stopped when she realised what this meant.

Trapped in her own mind.

With no way out.

Zera was running. It wasn't

Zera was running. It wasn't really her, instead another conciousness that was as evil as it was mysterious.

She heard a noise and skidded to a halt. She turned and let out a low snarl, her cold eyes - the eyes that held all of her power - scrutinising the other deer...

Who she recognised.

Zera shook her head and snarled again.

"Z? Sister is that you!?"
The deer spoke, sadness gripped his voice, cracking it slightly.

"Zera! It's me it's your brother!"

Brother!

Her own voice - innocent and gullible. It called from somewhere deep inside her mind.

Brother, help me! Get me out!

She growled at herself to stay quiet.

"Z... it's not you is it?"
The deer laughed quietly.
"How could I have been so stupid!? Leave my sister ALONE"

((More coming soon, give me a couple of hours. Also, just noticed something - Z reminds me of Alphonse from FullMetal Alchemist in the way she calls Erza brother...? Not at all relevant, but hey! Smiling ))

Was taken off the computer

Was taken off the computer indefinately so I haven't finished this off (which is also why I haven't been in the forest or around the community - I've missed alot), however, I will give Z some relief soon ^^

Go ahead, it'll be interesting to see what happens ^^

((Sorry, meant to start this

((Sorry, meant to start this yesterday but had to run - anyway...))

The two were interupted by the sound of hoofbeats. They turned in unison and looked at the new arrival.

"Phion? Phion, oh thank the gods it's you. Something's got Z." The stag was relieved to see the other deer.

Meanwhile, Zera was just getting more and more frustrated.

Phion!? Sister get him to understand! I know you can!

The mind overpowering the fawn's growled at itself again. It knew this other deer - why did they keep appearing

Zee has got Zee. Phion spoke

Zee has got Zee. Phion spoke breathlessly to Erza before enveloping Zera in a hug.

I am going to fix this, Zee. Nobody but you can be in there.

Zera pulled away from the other deer with a snarl.

What was it talking about? Zera shook her head with a low growl and turned to go but something stopped her - Erza.

"Zera! Z listen to her!"
