A Spark of Inspiration (Anjali Shortstory)

"I've been uninspired lately.", the stag spoke. He was bent down, praying toward the Twin Gods' statues on their hill. "I know it is much to ask for, but could you show me how to express kindness better to my fellow deer? Anything at all would be wonderful."

Silence. Maybe the Twin Gods were busy. He stood, his body radiating with the temporary white pelt from being a devotee. Anjali hoped they heard his prayer, but disappointed from not receiving an answer, he began to walk away.

He walked around, not really finding anyone close by. There were a few fawns but they seemed happy, so he didn't bother them. He moved farther, soon finding himself alone once again. Sitting in a soft patch of flowers, he took the time to rest and reflect, only listening to the sounds around him and the few thoughts that came to his mind. The sun was slowly setting on the land, the Forest becoming darker with each second that passed.

He opened his eyes, surprised to see something before him. A strange orb of light was floating a few feet away. The stag stood and approached the light curiously. As he did, he felt his body envelop in golden light. "What is this?", he questioned aloud.

"Relax, Anjali. Let us take you on a journey.", a voice spoke. Before he could ask who the voice belonged to, he vanished from the Endless Forest, shooting off into the sky within a thin beam of light.

He felt his body rush through the air, passing the land quickly. He could barely keep his eyes open, he shut them as the wind seemed to bombard his face relentlessly. He didn't know what was going on, his heart was racing. "I don't want to die!!", he cried.

Then the wind stopped as he spoke the words. "Relax, Anjali. Open your eyes.", the voice spoke again. He did so, and no longer was he on Earth. He floated past strange landscapes from other worlds. There were strange and wondrous lands he saw - beautiful green oceans, roaring volcanoes, alien trees, gigantic mushrooms (much larger than those that appear in the Endless Forest), glowing crystal caverns, lush waterfalls...the variety was unlike anything he had ever seen.

"These sights are beautiful!", Anjali cried with joy. He didn't understand why all this was happening, but the experience was breathtaking. He would never get to see these lands again.

"Express the feelings you are having at this moment to your fellow deer. Let them see the worlds you have seen with your kindness. Spread light to those who need it the most.", the voice spoke.

"Thank you for this, Michael and Auriea!", Anjali spoke with respect to the Twin Gods.

He sat up, looking around. Back at the Endless Forest, back where he was sleeping. He stood and stretched, remembering the beautiful worlds the Twin Gods had allowed him to see. It seemed to be early morning, so he must have slept through the night. Taking a deep breath, he walked toward the Pond.

As he approached, he saw a nameless stag drinking the water. "Mind if I join you?", Anjali asked the nameless one. "Not at all.", the nameless replied. The red-faced deer drank some of the water, and then asked, "Hey have you ever seen a giant mushroom?"

The nameless tilted his head, "Not really. I've only seen the little ones that make rings in the Forest."

Anjali smiled, "Well, I saw a mushroom as big as the Old Oak once!"

The nameless' eyes widened. "Oh! Oh please tell me about this!", he said with excitement.

And with that, Anjali's inspiration sparked into the mind of another. With each deer he told about the worlds he had seen, happiness and creativity spread throughout the Endless Forest.

That was cool! It fits

Laughing out loud
That was cool! It fits Anjali's personality perfectly. I think it is fitting for both Anjali and me, actually...I wish I could travel and see wondrous things like that, although I might only have to do so in my imagination.

Thanks for writing this, Quad! I like the song, too. ♥ ♥
