Some say I'm a rebel but my parents call me Anna

Time period 1854

They say my duty is to the farm, and that one day Ill marry. But first I must learn how to keep a house. They say the Indians are savages, but I disagree. I say they were here first. And they are somewhat wiser than us.You can call me a renegade or a rebellious girl. But some just call me Anna.
Im 16 and I live in Missouri on a farm with both my parents, and my two brothers Ted 9, and Mike 19.
We are not the only peolpe here. Some like us live in cabins along this countryside. Others live in the fort that is necessary for supplies. But the Sioux are also abundant in these parts, and they are the true people who own this land.

Chapter 1
A beginning of something Different
These days seemed unreasonably hot or was it because I was standing in ther open right under the sun? Who really new. Weeding was not a tough but a bothersome job to due. The sound of hooves pawing at the ground made me stop and look up. It was my black stallion Midnight causing the rucus. Wisping over to him I gently cooed him. " Easy boy its ok" stroking him along his neck seemed to ease him. I was curious as to what caused his behaviour but I knew the boy were fishing. And dad was gone on a trip with mom.

Puzziling as it was I soon found my answer as I looked the same direction Midnights attention was at. What appeared to be a Sioux boy around 10 was walking torwards me. I noticed a slight limp on his right leg indicating he was injured."Hello " I called out but I received no answer. Before the boy could reach me he fell on the ground. Running to him I put my hand on his forehead it was blazing. Taking both his arms I dragged him into the house, because he was to heavy to carry. I managed to get him in my bed, with some difficulty. I examined his right leg with care. Discovering something like a bullet had grazed his calf. I did not care what the reasons were ,but I knew I had to help him.I ran down to the creek to fetch some fresh cold water.Soaking some rags I placed them on his head. Now to disenfect ,and bandage that wound.Searching around she discovers some rags and some alcohol. At least hes asleep she thought as she applied the medicine to his wounds. Just as she was finishing up Anna heard the front door open.

"Anna"her name was called. Dang it "In here"it was her brothers. "Anna we caught plenty for..."Her older brother stopped in mid sentence.Apparently in shock at the visitor."Ted go back into living room he ordered as he closed the door. Sighing Anna faced her brother. The look was rather hard"What on earth is an Indian doing in this house Anna"he said ."He was hurt what would expect me to do" she said defencivly."Id expect you to behave like any normal woman would and runaway not help him." he yelled shaking with anger. "Just because your 2 and a half years older than me gives you no right to tell me what I should do. And any normal person would help someone, much less a child who is wounded'"she said infuriated haer cheeks turning red from the anger. "Well..."was all he could stutter."You know dad would have taken him in Mike, besides what harm could it do ?"turning back to the boy she exchanged the cloth for a fresher and colder one.

"We could all be scalped." he muttered as he turned to exit her bedroom. At these words Anna gave her brother a shut up look." Go...go skin the fish she ordered.pointing to the door. "No problem" he said ducking out the door.Gahh why does he haft to be so ignorant. Looking back at her unconscience patient she thought why must everybody thats different must be labled and treated this way, moving a lock of hair from the boys face.Going into the kitchen to cook dinner she saw that Mike was not there, probably in the barn she mused."When will dinner be ready " Ted whined. "In a few minutes "placing the pieces of fish in a skillet. " Who was that boy in there" he questioned. Anna smiled "He is an Indian boy that I found that was wounded." she explained." Oh...can I play with him ince he feels better"? Ted looked at her pleadingly."We will have to see"she said while placeing the fish and various vegetables on plates to be served."Go call you brother in,I need to see if we can get our patient to eat something"she bustled around puttting the plates on the table.Rushing to get back to her room.

Lightly shaking the boy"Wake up ,come on wake up"As the boy stirs Anna pulls a chair up next to her bed."Can you speak English?"she questions him."Yes"he answered simply eyeing her warily.Touching his forehead to chech his fever she said,"My name is Anna, you had a fever and you leg was injured so I brought you in the house."she sighed as she realized his fever was gone." My ,,,my name is Luta " he replied anxiously."Well Luta I imagine your hungry so here"handing him the plate of fish.Taking the plata Luta starts eating vigorously. Smiling Anna pours some water for him to drink. Once he finished eating Anna finally asked the question that had been burning inside her head ever since she found him."How did you get injured?"she questioned him."There were five of us hunting for deer. We came across some whites. They shot first" he confirmed. "Was anybody else hurt?" she questioned further.

"We retreated so no white man was killed"he said in a numb voice. Shaking her head "No thats not what I meant, what I meant was are your people injured?"she said with sincerity.Puzzled "Our warriors are not so easily killed" he said with a bit pride."good" she sighed with relief."Why do you care?'he asked hazily."Why shouldnt I ?"she retorted."Well I dunno its just dufferent he replied.
"you are going to have to stay the night here. And tomorrow we can see if you can move around on that leg,but why dont you get some rest"?taking the plate in her hands.Shaking his head the boy snuggled deeper into the covers.Tiptoeing her way out Anna tries to shut the doorquietly.Facing the room she discovered both her brothers were gone, probably already asleep she thought. Placing the on the table she heads out the door. The straw in the hayloft would be her bed tonight ,but she did not really care. She stopped to gently pat Midnight's neck before proceeding to the barn. All she could hear was the sound of frogs, and crickets chirping.A peaceful sound that she heard as her eyes slowly
closed.Ending the adventure to this day.

Lol thank you hope you enjoy it.

Seems like this could go

Seems like this could go interestingly, Anna seems like a very liberal mind for her time but I'm sure you'll make it work. One thing though, be careful with your punctuation, many of your sentences are lacking the double space between them and the following sentence. Makes it a bit hard to read.
Keep up the writing Faunet!

Thank you for the advice

Thank you for the advice Tera, I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment.Smiling

I like the direction its

I like the direction its taking so far! 8D In the third paragraph you suddenly change from first person pov to third though, and I agree with Tera for the double spaces. Eye
