The phone sat there on the table, with one single person staring at it. His green-yellow gaze kept flowing, contacting the blue cellphone with each passing second. He remembered what is friend had asked him the other day...
"Yoo gonna do id?"
"Yeah... Thinkin about it."
"Yoo shud.. I thin id wud mahk yoo happeh."
It would make him happy. But only if the answer was right. How long had this been going on? He couldn't remember, he hadn't been this distracted before. No, not since his last love. So short-lived, and always secret. Why couldn't he just love someone and have no one care about it? Maybe this was his chance.
He picked up the phone. He flipped it open. He typed in a few words. Those few painful words.

The quiet male stood up while repositioning his clothes and bag, staring hard at his phone and breathing slowly onto its screen. Maybe this wasn't the news he was hoping for; it was just a text, but his friend--his crush--sounded awfully nervous about it. He wasn't leaving, too, was he?

...Jun grinned shyly to himself and licked his lips to hide it. Thank God he was the only one that had been on the elevator, now getting off of it and flipping his phone to the keyboard side as he strolled down the hall and shouldered open the front doors.

Andy smiled, laughing in huge relief. After that long, he finally did it. He took a few minutes to shake himself out. It wasn't over yet, but he knew something would work out. He actually half expected Jun to be disgusted, but he always worried about that.
Okay... He took his phone again, typing more into the little screen.

He practically skipped down the stairs of the apartment building and out to his car. He hadn't felt this accomplished since... Since Collin, apparently. How long ago was that? Whatever, he couldn't remember Collin now. He stepped into his car, clearing the other seat of any junk that had accumulated over the days. Or weeks.
Start the car. Pull out of the parking lot. Get on the road. He couldn't believe how far he got without chickening out.

It took him a few minutes before he could actually snap out of it. This was ridiculous, he was in more control than that, was he? Maybe it's just been too long. He let out a nervous laugh, finally pressing on the gas pedal again and driving out of the parking lot, "So uh.. where did you wanna go?"

Jun came here a lot beings it was so near his apartment and he was quite glad they were going to a familiar place. Some of the workers even knew him by name when he came in as he was always so curious about how they lived. China being close to Korea somewhat made him feel at home. "Mine, too," he blinked. There was so much he didn't know about Andy now that he thought about it. So much he wanted to know..
He unbuckled his seatbelt and wasn't too careful about not grazing knuckles with Andy's hand in the process. A bit of pink came to his cheeks before he turned to open the door, hiding his reddening face.

Andy crawled out of his little car, popping up on the other side to see Jun from across the top of the car. He started walking to the door, looking back to see how close Jun was and rubbing the back of his neck in the process.
The door opened, they both went inside. The hostess seemed familiar with Jun, which got Andy's attention. But soon they were at their table. And nobody would realize what they were really here for.

Normally, he'd be excited to tell this news, but having to admit it to Andy wasn't enjoyable in any which way. In fact it started to sound like a dull trip he was forced to go on rather than an adventure he willingly accepted. This meant he'd be gone from him for half a year; shorter, if he could ask the captain. He could always stay behind or ask about Andy coming with him, but something told him it wasn't really in his taste to watch whales and have to journey through frigid waters.
Jun swallowed a sigh and braved to peer up at his crush for his reaction, shying away from himself in remorse.

He sighed. He knew he should've asked sooner. He poked at his menu, but he couldn't even read the words. "Well... It sounds like something you'd enjoy." Is that all he could say? No, he had to say what he wanted now, or else he would have to wait. For six months. And who knows what kind of people would be on that boat? Andy always had a fear of replacement. "Whales are interesting, I agree." He tried to sound enthusiastic about it, as if he was glad. That was one of the biggest lies he had to attempt in a long time. And so far, he was failing.

Dammit, he cursed, wringing his fingers into a fist and relaxing them before repeating the process to release tension. He took what he first saw, not much caring about food anymore. "Just a plate of fried rice, please." Andy, I love you, I love you; and I was so close to saying so...
He tried telling him with his eyes and by lightly pressing his knee against his under the table.

For some reason, Andy didn't look up. He didn't think he could, was Jun saying no? If only that waitress didn't interrupt, this was excrutiating. He felt so unsure, and so humiliated. As if Jun said no plain as day, even though he said nothing at all. He mumbled out something like "Chicken lo mein", which was enough to make her leave.
He finally felt the chance to lift his eyes up. It took a painfully long time... But when he finally met them.
"Jun..." He managed to squeak, but he didn't really know what to say now.

Not until he watched the waitress budge through a door to the kitchen did he say anything; and, beings both their hands were under the table, he slipped his fingertips into Andy's palms before finishing.
"Andy, I love you," he whispered.

It was happening. Andy tightened his grip on Jun's hands, staring into his eyes. It was all he could do to keep his eyes dry. He smiled.
"Jun, I... " He grabbed Jun's hands fully, "I love you too..."

Jun chuckled a single laugh--probably out of relief, or in amusement towards this whole situation. And then he started in on smiling. "Can't tell you how long I've wanted to say that," he muttered, taking a hand out of Andy's to rub at the back of his neck before putting it back in his love's palm. And then he had to sigh out the breath that was trying to start him in on sobbing, but if he did that then the waitress would only come back as was her duty to ask if everything was okay. So he'd have to suck it up for now and keep back hugging him until afterwards.
"I'm not going to go on this trip, either; not now that...you know. But I would love to be your sweetheart, yes."

Andy almost lost it. He wasn't going on the trip, they could be together. Finally. He could finally love someone. And now he wouldn't have to hide. Not like Betelgeuse or Collin, constantly hiding, keeping everything secret, no. He could finally be free. And no one could stop him now.
"You're serious? But I... I thought you wanted to go." He shook his head, "Well, if you want to stay..." He smiled, rubbing Jun's hands with his thumbs under the table, "I can't believe this is happening..."

Jun took a bowl of white rice and started sliding a bit of it onto his meal, proceeding to add soy sauce as he spoke. "I'm nervous I won't handle this right, though," he blushed freely. "I've never been in a relationship and I don't want to ruin it for you with my inexperience..."

Jun grinned while scooping rice onto his fork, raising it to his lips. "No, I didn't," he smiled, taking his bite and repeating the process.
They were a couple. He had permission to kiss him now; after all those dreams he'd had, it seemed only a dream, but now they were allowed to do so much they couldn't have before. Not here, but eventually... He was growing quite giddy where he say, not used to this kind of thinking. "Hey, Andy? I don't know where you live," he realized, sitting up to blink at him while reaching for his water.

And to think that Andy lived only blocks away from his apartment. All this time he could have walked up to his door, knocked, and asked the same question Andy'd given not even two minutes ago and went on with life. Funny how the littlest things end up impacting in the largest ways.
To cut things short, they eventually finished their meals, both being all too anxious to start their lives outside of this building as new sweethearts. Jun stood first and did the paying uncomplainingly and pulled his mate out the front doors.
