Random Silence drabble writing. Apologies for the humaness of it all! Do not hesitate to tell me if you wish for me to take it down~
I don't mind in the slightest. C:
Sorry if you don't understand the context, it's not really related to anything.
Esperanza = Silence's old assistant personthing. Yeah. >>;

"Get off of me!"
A voice, crying out into an empty hall, void of no reply except that of sweet silence.

Silence.

A figure illuminated by the light of only the moon, which so eagerly indulged in filling the pale room with its shine. The man, only barely holding his own weight as he leaned against a wall, lay with beads of sweat trickling down his forehead. His breath was staggered, closer to exaughsted gasps rather than wrinkling cries. He was alone, no soul to hear his empty cry. Besides, the criminal he intended his words to reach was long gone anyways.

The magician, having retired for the evening, had somehow managed to drift into slumber in an unused dressing room. Simple wooden flooring, dark and earthy in its tones, walls painted a simple white with paint chipping in various dark corners. And then there was the window, which lay dead center across from the room's entrance.
He loved windows.
Yet spited them all the same.

He briefly tried to reaccount his time spent in order to cause him to wake here, leaning against the pale walls in the shine of the moon. Everything was pale here, even his skin.

The man had never much access to sleep, insomniactic tendencies driving him mad to the point of utter frustration. How he came to a slumber in such a secluded part of his theatre had yet to surface.
And to wake to such uneasy state. This nitemare hadn't occured in years. A sigh escaped his dry throat as the figure closed his bright fire-tinted eyes, welcoming the darkness against the paleness which surrounded him. He propped a leg upwards, resting his head and arms around the limb, cradling it for support as he continued to try and recall the nitemare.
Or possibly his visit to hell. He wasn't really sure.

Muttering inaudible words in spite, he quickly rose from the floor, flashing open his lids. Pupils, once so dilated, quickly morphed their shape, adjusting themselves as the magician approached the lone window. Gently, gloved hands tugged on the aging wooden frame, sliding the window open with little effort. He was greeted with little other than a quiet skyline, occasional cobblestone streets druming from hoof-beats. If he hadn't been so absorbed in relishing the chilled night air, he'd surely caught the sound of the door creaking open and light footsteps on the wooden floor behind him.

His entire body shook when a delicate hand was placed on his left shoulder. His drowsy awareness quickly escaping him as he turned sharply, shoes clattering.

"Silence. Forgive me, I didn't intend to frighten you."

A sigh of relief.

"Ah, but my darling Esperanza, little do I find that to be your intention."
He paused, breathing to calm his nerves. He'd been indulging in enough startling emotions as it was.
"Why aren't you asleep?"
His voice was deep, raspy from ill-use save for his outburst he'd had but a few moments ago.

"I heard you shouting."
Her hand slipped from his shoulder to join the other infront of her, fingers lacing together.

"Oh."

And eerie quietness passed between them, the magician glancing past his assistant and to the open door.

"Are you alright?" Anxiety laced each syllable.

The man chuckled, brushing his fingers through his hair, trying to straighten the unruly locks. "Little nightengale, In the next valley-glades: Was it a vision, or a waking dream?
Fled is that music:—Do I wake or sleep?"

Esperanza almost tilted her head in light confusion.

"Darling, a dream. Nothing to worry about."
A smirk crossed the riddlers face, before he turned back to the window, breathing in its cool air as it continued to seep into the warm room.

"You'd best get some sleep yourself. I can assure you, your paycheck will never reach you if I am killed during an escape act from mere tiredness on your part."

The brunette smiled.
"Picking locks isn't a tough feat."

The magician spun on his feet, facing the woman once more.
"Then let the locks you pick be that in our act and not the door to my safe, hm?"

Quietness lingered only briefly before they both chuckled, the tension clearly nothing more than a joking banter.

"Get to sleep darling, nothing is amiss. Until morning."
The man upheld his grin as he patted the smaller frame lightly on the shoulder before wandering past her towards the door. Just as his footsteps managed to escape the door's frame however, did he manage to hear a voice cry out at him.

"Wait."

He paused, crossing his arms as he turned his head around to spot Esperanza gently leaning on the windowsill.

"Hm?" His voice became quieter, almost purring in its tiredness.

"Your riddle. What binds two together yet only touches one..." A confident grin crossed her features.

"The answer is 'a ring', isn't it?"

A sultry chuckle was his only reply as he strode out from the room.

@Kaoori- Pfff.
I just don't want to spam TEF with Silence's human tidbits.
And I can't really write nearly as well as some members of this site. Most of the time it tends to scare me, as other's stories always seem far superior.
Dunno. Rambling, I guess. But I do thank you for your kind words. C: <3
