Purple flowers and fluttering butterflies [RP?]

Mariposa woke very early, one forest morning. She had fallen asleep in a patch of purple flowers, where she usually is always found. A butterfly interrupted her slumber as it landed on her cheek.

Mariposa jerked her head up in surprise and saw the butterfly fly away. She looked up and observed the butterflies fluttering all around her with a smile. Mari had always been fascinated how a butterfly could flit through the air, being with the air. Careful not to get in the way of the butterflies' paths, she got to her hooves. There were so many that scattered all around her! So many... Mariposa continued to watch them, getting dizzy from their circles and up-and-down pathways.

Then, Mariposa looked to the sky and was surprised to see that she had woke up oddly early than she normally would. The sun was barely shining through the trees and hills of The Endless Forest. Little flecks of pink and orange sprouted throug the sky, though was still dominated by the remaining shades of light blue.

Mariposa was going to go back to sleep, but decided against it because she was already wide away. With a yawn and a backward glance, the gentle doe trotted away from the purple flowers and the fluttering butterflies that she loved and treasured oh-so dearly.

The young doe moved through

The young doe moved through the forest with effortless silence, the faint impressions the only evidence her hoofsteps left behind. Her golden gaze was directed skywards, watching the birds flit from branch to branch and tree to tree as she, wraith-like, flickered from shadow to shadow.
She was fond of the early morning, so quiet, so still, and she hated to disturb it as much as she admired it. So it was that she had learned to move her feet as quietly as could be, to better observe the little things that moved about when no one was watching, to observe her newfound world unfold and sing its dawnsong as the glorious day blossomed.
As the fragile scent of flowers wafted up to greet her, her eyes dropped from the lofty boughs to admire the butterfly who'd drifted in front of her by chance. A gentle puff from her snout sent the tiny creature spiraling a little higher, and off it went; as she refocused her gaze to follow it, the figure of the other deer caught her attention. Startled, she froze for just a heartbeat to observe the stranger - but the other didn't look terribly dangerous to her, and so the brown and gray-furred doe relaxed, her ears pricked forward with curiosity.

Mariposa ambled to the bridge

Mariposa ambled to the bridge that was adjacent to the patch of flowers she was just lying in. Hesitantly, Mariposa took a step on the hard, stone floor of the bridge. Then another step and another until she was in the center of bridge. Mari turned and faced the pond. She enjoyed the pretty view from the bridge. She watched the gently ripples that spread throughout the pond. The willow trees' branches flowed from side to side in the tender twilight breeze. Mariposa could barely make out the little flares of orange and red, the colors of the koi that dashed to-and-fro in the water.

The doe inhaled the air of the early morning, an aroma that she had always found so sweet. Suddenly, she saw someone else who was up quite early. She cocked her head to the side with curiousity and wondered who the stranger could be and why they were up quite early.

She'd been spotted! The doe

She'd been spotted! The doe blinked a little as the other deer turned towards her and paused. A little half-bow broke her awkward stance, and a small nodd was thrown in as an afterthought. Both were motions she'd picked up from other deer, and she'd found them to be generally effective greetings when at a distance.
With nothing better to do, and her curiosity piqued, the brown doe continued her casual stroll, navigating her way towards the point where the river crossed the pond. She enjoyed the willows and the gently lapping waters, anyhow; they'd make for a more than satisfactory background to enjoy the morning in.
When she had drawn near enough to be heard without raising her voice, the doe offered a gentle "Good morning," to Mariposa.

Mariposa's ears flickered in eagerness as the doe approached. She nodded and gave a little bow to the new doe. "Hello," Mariposa said sweetly. "I'm Mariposa...and you are..?"

The brown one smiled softly.

The brown one smiled softly. Mariposa... That was a pretty one. "My name is Phaios," she returned in kind. She had considered just passing by on her way to sit beside the willow, but the promise of a friendly morning conversation seemed warm enough to warrant another pause in her strides; the doe stopped at the foot of the bridge, her toes safely within the grass before it faded into stone. Never know, with such strange objects... She'd rather keep her hooves firmly on the ground; a dip in the water was not high on her list of to-dos for today.

Mariposa smiled as she repeated the name, "Phaios...That's a lovely name." Mariposa walked past Phaios as she said, "I haven't seen you around the forest too often Phaios. Are you new to the endless forest?"

Mariposa was quite curious of this new person. She turned her head and looked at the doe.

Phai tracked the doe's movement with her gaze, head turning appropriately. "Thank you. Yes, I was a fawn not long ago." How long had it been? Days, weeks? It seemed like a long time and no time at all. "I try to avoid the more boisterous crowds..." And there certainly seemed to be a lot of them, of late.
"Have you always been here?" she inquired curiously. After she'd said it it seemed a rather strange question, to her, and she cringed inwardly but hoped the other doe wouldn't find it so.

Mariposa's smile faltered

Mariposa's smile faltered only slightly. She turned her head forward again as she spoke, "Oh..umm..No..not as a fawn. I was different, I was.." Visons and flashbacks lit up her eyes..she had faintly remembered..

Hot..so hot..A desert. Dry and endless. Thiiiirsstyyy. She was there for what seemed like an eternity...

And then falling..falling...falling. Forever. Unconcious. Away from her love...

Human.

And then finally..

BOOM!

She landed.

Here.

A deer.

"Rapunnnnzeelllllllll," a voice hissed at her as the visions flew by.
~

Mariposa blinked and the visions were gone in seconds. She gasped from the speed of it all. She didn't remember. She'd force herself not to..

Her legs were jittery now and her eyes were a bit watery. But she tried to compose herself; make it look like she wasn't in a panic.

"I-I...don't rememeber," Mariposa said, surprised that her voice was shaky.

Phaios looked baffled at the

Phaios looked baffled at the butterfly doe's reaction, but there was a sort of sympathy in her eyes. Maybe she wasn't so alone in her lack of remembering, then. "It's like that for me, too, most times. I don't remember much from before the first time I woke up here." Her ears flick towards the nearby willow tree, shortly followed by a quick glance from her eyes. No sense in standing around all day... A tilt of her head and a couple of slow, leisurely steps in that direction invite Mariposa to join her in the cool grasses beneath its limbs. "But sometimes there's a lot."
Bayleen's picture

"I suppose," Mariposa

"I suppose," Mariposa chuckled nervously. Mari walked beside Phaios as they walked to the willow tree. She slipped through the trees long, limp branches that drooped down like hair. Mariposa settle down on the ground; her extremely long black hair gathering at the ground where she lay. "I...I wasn't from here when I came to the forest," Mariposa said, gazing down at her hair. She stretched out a hoof and placed it over her hair, as if stroking it. Another flashback.

But this time she was in the forest, everything looked blurry.
She was running.
Trees and deer passed her. But she paid them no heed. Only running absent-mindedly. But...where?

Mariposa shook her head, ridding of the memory. A smile tugged at her lips. She looked up at Phaios. "I guess you could say I was as mad as a hatter back then."

Phai leaned forward, putting

Phai leaned forward, putting her weight on her fore limbs so that she could stretch her rear legs before settling to the ground and arranging her long legs neatly about herself. A hatter? The doe's brow furrowed as she wondered what on earth a hatter was, but she didn't ask. "From somewhere outside the Forest? It doesn't seem like there is an outside; the Forest is the whole world." If a place wasn't within endlessness, where was it? How did one get in and out? Those two questions had plagued her for some time now.
Bayleen's picture

"Well," Mariposa explained,

"Well," Mariposa explained, searching for the right way to put it. "I...was a human before...Do you know what that is?"

"A human is...very different

"A human is...very different from us deer," Mariposa said. Her ear flicked when a little bug landed on it. "I lived in a very different world from here. I lived in a place that was very high from the ground...So high, I could see over the land past the sea..." Mariposa's voice drifted off for a moment, remembering the puffy green trees that dotted the earth. She could smell the sea..

Mariposa shook her head once more and continued. "I stayed in that high place for a very long time. But I survived and managed to entertain myself with what was there. And then I met...someone. They were very special to me. My hair came in handy then, for I was not allowed to leave the High Place. But they would come to me." Before Mariposa continued, she paused to make sure that Phaios wasn't too confused with what she was telling her.

Phaios's picture

Phai blinks. Over the land,

Phai blinks. Over the land, past the see.... see what? She tries very hard not to interrupt the story with questions, but eventually she has to ask, "Your hair?" She wasn't quite sure how having hair would help in a high place, except maybe shielding one from drafts. "Why couldn't you leave?" shortly follows, since she's already butted in - may as well clarify!
Bayleen's picture

"My hair was very, extremely

"My hair was very, extremely long in this human world. It could reach the bottom of the high place. The High place was," Mariposa thought of some sort of comparison for Phaios. "It was like an extremely large, tall tree! Yes, very very tall. One could not get up there if you flew!...And I could not leave because my foster mother forbid me from leaving. She wasn't evil, but she was protective of me."

The doe frowned a little.

The doe frowned a little. Forbade her to leave? Well that wasn't very nice, now, was it. "So the other.. hoomin.. climbed your hair?" That sounded like it hurt. Surely they could just climb the tall-tree-place instead... or something.
...Deer don't climb.
Squirrels climb.
Suddenly, an image of these strange hoomins filters in: bright-eyed, bushy-tailed critters with long, long hair and who lived in tall-tree-places. What odd beings...

Mariposa nodded. "Yes. They could not climb it otherwise because there was nothing to grasp to help them climb. A bare, branchless tree. See, humans don't walk on four legs; they have two instead of four. And they have human faces, like I do."

Behind the trees was hiding silhouette. Silhouette of young stag.
He carefully slipped around the trees without any sound. The wind and songs of birds was hiding him from others. "A human face..." - repeated he in mind "that could mean only that...". The sun has shined his crying mask, and he carefully looked out of a tree.

"Only two?" The doe sounds doubtful. "They would fall over like a pinecone standing on its nose in the wind." She studies Mari's face curiously. It looked like a pretty normal face to her. Lots of deer had flat faces underneath their masks. In general, she was the odd one out, with her long, tapered snout.
With her attention focused on the deer beside her, the one hidden among the trees farther back goes unnoticed.

The deer has again disappeared behind a tree.
His heart beated very fastly, it was always difficult to him to communicate with others.
He made step out from tree and came out from shadow. It was young stag, colored in deep black color, on his neck was dark green old scarf. His golden fragile antlers shined in the sun. Long and soft black hair lied on his mask, hiding its half. Left side of his back was still hidden in shadow of tree. The stag really was afraid to show this "something".
-"I-i am sorry.. It isn't polite for overhearing... I..."Huh! What I am telling?! Thought stag, - they really think, that I am had overhear them.. "M-my name is Thanatos.. I am really sorry, I not want to disturb you.."

You aren't disturbing us; you're welcome to come and sit, if you'd like," she replied kindly. A dip of her head indicated the grass beside her - an invitation to join them.

It's a pleasant, quiet eve in The Forest. The trees sway in the breeze, birds put heat on their evening songs, squirrels start to sleep and frogs do their opera. The grass swings from side to side and everything is so peaceful and idyllic. A fawn, not wanting to sleep at all, steps around. She's in a strange mood today. Like angered, but happy and sad all at once. Anger-for wolves killing her family, sadness-for losing her family and happiness-this forest seems to be so peaceful and safe. Violet still remembers the horrible memories... She has a hard heart and tries to not think about it. But it recalls itself. Violet is confused, alone. Shaken, trembling, cowering. Only a few days after she came here. The female fawn is unsure about everything. She sees other deer, but doesn't even dare to talk to them. Violet goes in a lone tree-free meadow in the heart of The Forest. There are so many adorable flowers here. All, violet. Violet and beautiful. The fawn doesn't know her name, but feels very happy in the middle of the violet flower meadow. The fawn sees butterflies fluttering about, and she lies down. She lies down, curls up and dreams a bit in the tall grass. It seems safe again here. Now the moods are gone. She feels empty.

Mariposa was ambling beside the Crying Idol river, being a sponge to all the sounds from a chorus of birds. Her ears flicked this way and that, catching the sounds of the buzzing dragonflies and the ribbits of the frogs. She felt at peace beside the river. The subtle splashes of the water engulfed her in serenity.

The doe sighed with contentment and opened her eyes to view the world once more. She looked down into the river. There were mini ripples from the slightest touch to the surface. Mariposa grabbed a lily pad with a tiny pink flower on it and flopped it on her head. The doe laughed at herself and looked around. Her forest green eyes spotted a tiny fawn lying down alone in a flower patch.

Mariposa, having her obsession with fawns trotted over to the tiny fawn, nearly blending with the butterflies that fluttered around them. "Hello!" Mariposa greeted with a sweet smile.

The doe looked around for ideas.

"Like Riverheart or...Redtear or VioletPoppy." Then Mariposa shook the lily pad and it fell forward. She grabbed it and placed it on the fawn's head.

But, the fawn now, with the lilypad tilted funnily on her head (She had moved her head.) was picking the violet flowers along in the grass and entwined a lovely flower wreath. She did it quickly, like her mother taught. "Flower crown. Violet it is..." she mumbled slowly. She took the lilypad and put it nearby and replaced it with the flower wreath. Then, she made another wreath and placed a comfy 'flower crown' on Mariposa's head as well. It fit excatly. The fawn was good at it! "I love flowers... Especially these wondrous purple flowers... How about Violet as my name? I like roses too... Red ones, like my mother wore sometimes... Is it possible to have two names, Mariposa, because I would like to be Violet from my purple flower crowns and Rosie from red roses?" the fawn said. The little fawn was indeed a creative one.

Then, we take others and entvine them together. Like this. And you can tie them together like this, so they won't break and fall apart." Violet showed it very accurately. It is impressive how she did that. And the tutorial is very good to learn how to do these as well. When a lovely circle of grass was done, Violet showed Mariposa how to put flowers on it. She entvined it by talking how to do it, and soon, the flower crown was done. It was as adorable as the others. Violet said then: "Here. Now you try, I'll be right here, righting your wrongs, when you do it, but I think the tutorial was clear and good enough. This is excatly as my mother told me. Very accurate and clear."
