Well, everyone around here has been writing awesome stories and poems. This community is amazing when it comes to being creative. So, originally I wasn't planning on joining in because my writing sucks in comparison, but yesterday I was somewhat inspired by an event that happened, decided to turn it into a short story, and then... somehow built up the nerve to post it here 0.o. It's written from Sqish's perspective.

Adrenaline, fear, excitement. I could hear my heartbeat in my head as I raced towards the idols, my legs carrying me as fast as I could go. They loomed above me on the hill, staring down unchanged as always. I leaped up the incline, feeling myself weaken with exhaustion, but I couldn’t give in, not yet. Sliding to a stop I knelt down, ripping up dirt as my knees scrapped the earth. This was the hardest part, the waiting. Every time I returned, it seemed to take longer. Ever so slowly, the tell-tale blue glow began. I squeezed my eyes shut in anticipation, trying to rest, trying to catch my breath, trying to ready myself for the next leg of the plan. Slowly the minutes ticked by, the birds sang, deer bellow and played, and I sat in agony, waiting for the moment to be let loose.
Waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting…
… Did I do something wrong? Was I not bowing low enough? Was I in the wrong spot? Was my plan to devious for me to-
The world seemed to explode around me, I could feel the warmth of the glow as I was blessed with a snow white pelt. A pelt of purity and beauty. YES! Victory! Or… half way there. With one last, deep breath, I pushed away from the idols, whizzing past my fawn companion as if I were on fire. It was momentum and good balance which kept me from tumbling head-long down the slope and into the pond, where my blessed pelt would have washed away. I shifted off to the left, moving to the side of the water as I listened for the call of my target. There in the distance, I could hear the ruffling. The bright blue glow consuming my head hid much of the forest around me, blurring and brightening everything I saw in what I assumed was a manner only the gods were meant to see. I stopped philosophize about the gods and their gift, focusing my mind on the target, a single pictogram shinning through the blurry lights around me.
He was standing, unaware, dumb to my plans. For a moment my heart skipped a beat; there was another deer with him. The doe 21 turned and looked at me with an amused grin, but she did not flee. I turned down my head, psyching myself up for the last push, the final charge that would hurtle me among my adversaries. With one great bound I landed between the two, 21 seeming unconcerned by the horror that was about to play out in front of her. I often got the impression she’d seen it all before.
The other one, though, my target, gave a great bellow of rage, running off as soon as my god-blessed glow stampeded its way into sight. I wasn’t going to let him get away, though, oh no. Mustering the last of my strength, I gave a few more bounds, catching up to him with easy. I slid to a stop beside him, turned my head, and let loose the magic.
What a glorious sound! The song of magic sang through the air, touching my ears and sending me into a peal of victorious laughter. The gods be blessed for making such a wonder pelt, for making a pelt which could be shared and bestowed upon any.
“Ah, Walter, I got you!” I roared, a silly smile on my face, my sides heaving from long minutes of running and leaping through the forest. “I got you, Walter! That’s pay back, you know, for, uhm… for…” Walter didn’t look happy. No, in fact, I would go so far as to say that Walter looked like he wanted to eat some fawns. Or perhaps, he wanted to eat an over-sized fawn, much like…
… me.
You know what? It ends up I still had a little bit of energy left. Just enough to run for my life. How very nice, eh?
I spun away from him, taking off and catapulting myself through trees and deer alike, forcing my jell-o legs to carry me just a bit further. In the distance I could hear the bellows of my left behind fawn companion, ignorantly wondering where I had run off to. Perhaps if I got there, I could sacrifice him to Walter and save myself.
The angry deer was hot on my trail for a good while, inches from my hooves. But as time passed, his chase diverted, and I took my chance to make a clean get away. The space between us lengthened, until at last I could no longer see him. I glanced over my shoulder, spying his picto on the horizon.
Before I knew it I found myself face to face with my poor, forgotten friend. The idea of sacrifice seemed a bit cruel now, but not entirely out of the question. Before I had to feel guilty about anything, I decide it was time to take my leave. I gave my friend a sad nuzzle goodbye, suggesting quietly to him to move away from the pond area before I sat down. I cast one last glance over my shoulder, trying to see if that picto still haunted my moves. But there was only the laughter and play of fawns in the sweet, warm forest sun. Would I dare try my luck with Walter the next time I awoke? Did I dare anger him again, and face the retribution like I had received last time I had played this game? Was I really that willing to tempt fate, to put my life on the line to play a joke on an old deer?...
… Next time I’d conserve energy for the get away >:3

I hope that Sqish's games haven't annoyed Verdalas to much...
Just wait until Walter's
But it's all fun. I know that people do it to annoy me, and it's hilarious to watch them scream and run in another direction when Walter gets cheesed off. >_>
Nice story. Teehee. xD

lol, ok, I didn't want to annoy you for real, because sometimes people get very upset when they're chased around, which is a bummer. I won't feel as bad about doing it now ^^
Sqish: all I have to say is: you're going down, Walter! After I figure out some nice places to hide >>
And thanks
Sometimes I do get annoyed
On Walter's behalf, he asks if Squish prefers to be boiled, roasted or minced?
