Thank you both, but it is pretty difficult... I keep trying to paint but I think it is called 'sketch' for a reason. Plus being unable to look at it zoomed out until the end is tricky. But I like the physical media look of it and restricted tools and pallets can be fun to play with because of the challenge.

And you're completly right about the colour layers I think it's like for a realism effect; when we put too many layers of paint on a paper, it becomes slippery and impossible to keep drawing on.
@wanderer- I don't think your set was failed.
I didn't have to use a mouse so it was a lot easier to work quickly. And I have used programs that are similar before for many hours- tegaki e, artpad, iscribble. Plus like... 10 years? (wow, urgh) of drawing digitally + some art training to help with composition and so on... so... please don't be too hard on yourself. With time and practice you will be able to surpass what I am doing now easily.
