Physical Description

Skull slightly domed, long and narrow, with scarcely any perceptible stop, inclined to be Roman-nosed. Jaws long, powerful and deep. Teeth strong and clean with a scissor bite. Nose large and black. Ears are small and fine in quality, lying back on the neck when in repose with the tips when thrown back almost touching behind occiput; raised when at attention. Eyes set somewhat obliquely, dark in color, intelligent but rather soft in expression; eye rims dark; inner corner midway between tip of nose and occiput. Clean neck, free from throatiness; slightly arched, very powerful and well set on. Shoulders sloping, fine at the withers and free from coarseness or lumber. Chests rather narrow, with great depth of brisket. Ribs only slightly sprung, but very deep giving room for heart and lung play. The back Rises a little at the loins in a graceful curve. Loins are extremely muscular, but rather tucked up, owing to the great depth of chest and comparative shortness of back and ribs. Bones of the forelegs are straight and somewhat flattened like blades, with the narrower edge forward. The elbows have free play and are turned neither in nor out. Pasterns strong. Long, very muscular and powerful hindquarters with well bent stifles; somewhat wider than the forequarters; strong first and second thighs; hocks clean and well let down; legs parallel when viewed from the rear. Coat is long, silky, flat, and slightly curly/wavy. On the head, ears and front of legs are short and smooth; on the neck the frill is profuse and rather curly. Feather on hindquarters and tail, long and profuse, less so on chest and back of forelegs. Also has a long Tail, set on and carried low in a graceful curve. Hare-shaped feet, with well-arched knuckles, toes close and well padded.

The Proud yet Sensitive Dog, The Picky yet Loving Companion

Due to the forest’s magic he obtains some amount of human intelligence. Though it’s still best to view him as an animal more than anything else. Another ability that he has is the ability to give and receive magic but only as much as the forest will allow it and his earthly state.

An independent animal with an athletic body structure, and contrary to that, a usually quiet personality. Having a gentle-spirited personality that ranges from serious and stately to clownish. When it comes to companions he is sensible, loving, and always showing respect towards them. Sometimes preferring not to be left alone for long periods of time. While for strangers a reaction ranges from aloof to friendly. Because of this and not having a strong sense of territory, he is not much of a guard dog, being rather non-aggressive and with no intention of domination. Still, he does not like his private space to be invaded and this may become a problem in case of touchy strangers. Despite that, he will risk himself to protect his family, loves and trust them unconditionally. When injured, ill, or under high-level of stress he will avoid interaction and company. Becoming obstinate to any help that tries to be given. Although, there can be an exception for a selected few. The amount of distance he puts towards another or scarceness depends on the severity.

In general a well-mannered dog but being a sight hound, using sight rather than scent, he is more than likely to chase anything that moves fast. Could be with a companion one moment and gone the next. Unresponsive to any incoming calls. This mindset lacks observant intelligence. It’s not often you’ll see him run into something or through a dangerous location. Unlikely the chase is with the intent to hunt but with smaller creatures it might just be the opposite. Not a high-energy dog despite his athletic structure. A quick sprint to long distance running or some play will make him more than happy to recline to your side. Becoming a couch potato in other words. He is more playful and willing to play with companions than he is with strangers.

Able to understand and learn things quickly he is rather intelligent as well an independent-thinker. This combination will cause him to become bored easily from repetition and quite stubborn. Even so, don’t let that fool you. He is capable of learning and understanding new things if pulled with the right motivation. Due to being sensitive a stern “NO” is good to tell him off if doing something unwanted. Anything else will through him off. Reasons why he doesn’t do well in some situations.
