"Oh...hey, thanks."

Picked up on a now-familiar scent while going on a sprint out of sheer boredom. Followed it and found Lats'vel alone (or so he thought; didn't see a sleeping Kaeltiir at first). Took this as an opportunity to personally thank the boar for his help the other day, and to apologize for being an ass. His apology took the form of a clumsy bow because let's face it, he's awkward enough as he is, but the boar seemed to get it and was pretty welcoming. Watched in confusion as Lats'vel began to stomp the ground, unsure of what was going on. Was it a threat, a warning or something else? Stared uncertainly like an idiot, finally getting it when the frustrated boar plopped down and back up. Ohhh...right, yeah, knew that all along. Finally settled down, embarrassed but at least Lats' was satisfied. Felt a little annoyed with himself for taking orders, but A) Lats'vel is freaking huge and scary, and B) he owed the boar that much anyway for looking out for him. Feels a twinge of, gasp, respect developing for Big Bacon, though yeah he would totally never admit that. Pffright.

Almost instantly felt bored just sitting. Scoped out Anonymous off in the distance and went over to check him out. Erratically sniffed and rubbed experimentally to see how macho and menacing he could make himself out to be (and mayyybe trying to show off for Lats' as well but lolyeahsure dream on kid), but Anon only seemed confused. Meh, oh well. Decided the stag was interesting and tried to get him to romp/spar. Anon couldn't quite seem to get the hang of it and soon wandered off. Allllrighty then. Huffed and plopped back down near Lats' again. Itching to spar with a tree, but wondering if that would annoy the boar/make him wonder if he was trying to bust his head open again.

Spazzed a bit when a few deer came crashing by; twitchy weirdo mode initiated. Smacked a tree and refocused attention on Anon, who had wandered back. Messed with him a little more, then started a staring contest. Getting really creeped out by that mask. Basically everything resulted in the two trying to out-weird each other. Stared warily at Rajih when he appeared, contemplated, then went in for a couple of sniffs. Satisfied when the Thing backed up. Returned to his former position by Lats' after Anon left again and when he got fed up by random deer shenanigans. Later sneezed/spat at by Rajih, too stunned to do anything except watch the Thing leave.

Sat stewing for a bit, not wanting to let that go. Hell no. Finally got up and followed Rajih's scent back to the Old Oak. Hesitated when he saw that the Thing was sleeping near his equal. He had no intention of fighting, but seeing as how the Things seemed close to Lats', he might as well try to make peace. Rajih stiffly got up and mock-charged, but the buck stood his ground. Made a couple of friendly yet wary gestures and got a sniff in. The Thing seemed to loosen up at this, and to Hannibal's surprise he invited him to sit. Did so, stiffening when Rajih nuzzled him but took this as a good thing. Didn't expect everything to be forgiven so easily, but hey, works for him. Was tense for a bit, but soon relaxed when Rajih showed no signs of changing his mind. Decided that he really needed to stop being so paranoid all the time (good luck with that, bub).

Tiny hooves carried the

Tiny hooves carried the little one as she pushed past bushes and leaves. It wasn't to easy for someone her size to try and squeeze around when she wasn't strong enough for such tasks. Thunk The fawn fell on her face, making it past the foliage. "Ouch . . ." A single sniffle, but she didn't have time to cry now. She was on a mission. Bouncing slightly, a figure was not to far ahead with the strange mask on their face. A haa. Just who she was looking for. Quickly, running a bit to fast; the little one was heading right for the stag she had met before. Hannibal. Ungraceful stop, standing before him with her legs in the air and face on the ground. Another ouch, but her sniffles lead to watery eyes as she was in front of the stag. Looking for attention, she was sure he would give it to her.

[She is so adorable~ ;u;]

The buck had been taking a rare moment to completely space out, staring towards the pond from the treeline. He wasn't exactly lost in thought, no; he just had a little nibble of mushrooms today and so he was feeling pleasantly relaxed. He could hear his hair, but eh, no biggie. Wow that is one shiny pond... Who knows when was the last time he blinked. The fawn's thunderous arrival was what snapped him out of it, and he finally blinked in surprise as he looked down at her with a tilt of his curly-haired head. His pale, freckled face peeked out from between the jaws of some strange, fanged creature, the eye sockets of its skull dark and empty.

It took him a moment to register her face in his memory, and when he did a wide smile presented itself. "Hey there, kiddo! I remember you. What's up?" he asked pleasantly, then glanced over his shoulder behind him, eyes narrowing. "You're not being chased, are you? Don't worry, I'll scare the fur off of 'em. You're safe with me!' the buck exclaimed with a determined nod, tail flagged and chest puffed out with confidence.

Carry's picture

Looking up to him, a goofy

Looking up to him, a goofy little grin appeared on her face. He remembered her, yay. Tail wiggled and she moved to stand back up seeing as she had fell down. "Oh . . . noo, no one chwased me." The little fawn sometimes struggled with words, but was getting better and would soon speak probably with time as she grew. Looking behind her from the direction she came when the stag looked. Nope, she just wasn't being very careful; but she was sure that he would. He didn't look like he was afraid of anything at all. "Ummm . . ." Tiny body shook, stray leaves fell of her, " . . . up?" Bright eyes lifted up to the trees above their heads; confused till she realized he wasn't asking what was up.

She giggled softly. "I'm bored . . . so I ran. And fell . . ." Not something she was proud of for sure, "What are you doing?" Tilting her head slightly, looking around them both. To the pond and the trees, before back to him. Examining his 'headgear' once again with curiosity. Not many others had stuff on their heads or faces . . . nether did she. That baffled the little orange fawn.
Salka's picture

The buck relaxed somewhat

The buck relaxed somewhat when Dulcie claimed that she was not being chased, but that didn't mean that he wouldn't keep his guard down. As he had seen so far in his time in the forest kids were a popular target for the local crazies, and he did not dig that one bit. Nope, ain't cool at all. For once he'd like to see those slathering, predatory morons pick on someone their own size. Pfeh.

Wait...up? Hannibal glanced up as well, saw nothing but the canopy above, and then looked back down at the little one with a puzzled yet amused look. "You alright there, kiddo?" he chuckled, then listened intently when she spoke up again. Another chuckle when she explained the excitement of her day, running and falling. Well, he could definitely relate to that on some level; he tended to be a little clumsy sometimes.

"Oh...what am I doing? I'm, ah..." He paused to think for a moment. What was he doing? And how long had he been staring at the pond? Another chuckle, the skull pieces rattling lightly from the vibrations. "I have no idea, to be real with you. I guess I'm bored too!" the buck said with a grin. He then noticed that she seemed fascinated with the skull, which made him a little uneasy. After all, it was what he stole from that creature who cursed him and made his antlers fall off. But eh, oh well, what's done is done. And it looks awesome.

With a small smile the buck dipped his head and shimmied a little, using one hoof to tug at the band that secured the skull in its position. Carefully it was removed, and he placed it on the ground before the fawn, shaking his curly headfur. "I, ah...I have no idea what or who it used to be, but it's pretty cool huh?" he asked with a proud grin. He was about to suggest that she try it on, but quickly realized that she probably wouldn't be able to lift her head. It would totally be awesome, though. And hilarious.

The little ears of the fawn

The little ears of the fawn perked as he spoke; so he was bored just like her? Childish grin crossed that young face. Being like an adult was always a goal for the little one. She wanted to be a grown up so badly; but that will be for some time from the look of her. At the moment, she noticed that he was removing his mask from his head and set it down before her. Mouth hung open as she saw it and just how big it was compared to herself. Wow. Standing up. she walked around to get a better look at it. "Yeah . . . very cool."

Lightly, she touched it with a tiny hoof before she pocked her head closer to it and stuck her face inside the 'mouth' of the skull. "They must have been wreally scary . . . big teeth." As she was pulling back, bumping her head and finding she had gotten herself stuck. A slight panic, she struggled and as she pulled back the empty head didn't seem to wish to let it's "catch" go. "Ahhhhh, it's alive!" Dulcie let out a tiny cry, falling onto her tiny rump with Hannibal's headpiece 'clinging' to her face.

Salka's picture

Ah great, he was starting to

Ah great, he was starting to space out again. The buck not-so-inconspicuously shook his neckfur to snap himself out of it, and it was then he saw that the fawn was peeking into the skull. He couldn't help but chuckle as the tiny fawn dared to brave the jaws of the long-since-dead predator, or whatever it had been. Big teeth, indeed. If she ever asked what it was, he would totally have to wing it and make something up; no way he would admit that he did not know. Maybe a fierce dragon that he took down himself, and...and that was how he lost his rack! Yes, yes good. That could wor-- Oh.

The fawn was now flailing around with her head stuck in the skull, and at first Hannibal was amused at her exclamation that it's "got" her, but then he became worried when she fell over with a cry. "Whoa, hey...you alright, kiddo? Gotta be careful, that thing's heavy," the buck mildly chided as he moved over to her side. She was fine, however; no bruises or scratches to be had, just some understandable panic. Chuckled briefly at how ridiculous she looked, and then carefully removed the skull from her head with his teeth and hooves. His work being done, he half-grinned down at her and shook his head. "Eh, my fault. I should've known you'd be curious enough to totally go for it," he said, then helped her to her hooves by gently lifting her up by her nape. He then plopped down on his rump in front of her, tilting his curly-haired head. "What's your name, kiddo? And why are you out here by yourself?"

Carry's picture

Once freed, she shook her

Once freed, she shook her head quickly. That felt so strange; little Mohawk of hair was a mess but seemed to bounce back into place after she wiggled. Odd. Looking straight at the skull, a tiny glare was on her face. As if staring it down. She wouldn't forget what that headpiece did to her and she would most likely hold a grudge against it as if it intellectually bite her head. "Thank youuu." A bit embarrassed about what had happened, but the faun shook it off. Sitting herself down just like him in a mimicking manner.

Her name? "Hmmmm . . . ." She knew this one, she was sure that she did. What did someone call her once? It was stuck on the edge of her tiny tongue. "Du . . . l . . . cie. Yes, my nwame is Dulcie." Sweet. Someone said she was small and sweet. Dulcie. Glad to remember what she was called, but who could blame the dear. Now many called her bye her name anyway. Tho, his second question wasn't hard to answer, shrugging a little. "I just am . . . I always have bween, from wwhat I can rwemember." Frowning at her over used 'w' in her words; that sounded funny. Tiny ears twitched as she stared up at the buck; now eyeing the golden ring but quickly focused back on his face. "Do you have a nwame . . . nww . . . name?" Head just titled slightly to the side.
Salka's picture

The buck watched with great

The buck watched with great amusement as she glared daggers at the skull and then plopped down as he had done, garnering another chuckle from him. Oddly enough, she seemed to struggle with remembering her name. Briefly he wondered if he should be concerned about that, but then he realized his attention span was probably not much better than hers. He tipped an ear as she slowly sounded out her name. "Dulcie...interesting name. I like it!" he approved with a grin, which quickly melted as she went on. Always been alone? Well that just wasn't right. Then again, it was not an uncommon phenomenon in the forest and other worlds like it: children appearing out of nowhere, born from no mother and sired without a father. Sometimes he believed that he had a similar origin; after all, his childhood was devoid of parental supervision. Good load of help that's done him.

He softly grunted as he mulled over this new information; he didn't quite know what to say in regards to the fawn's predicament. Dulcie's attention seemed diverted, and he realized that she was looking at...hm. His golden hoop? Well, it was pretty shiny; odds are that was exactly what she was fixated on. Oh, his name. Right. Rolling back his shoulders, the buck tipped his head up with that same friendly yet mischievous grin. "Sure do! Name's Hannibal, but call me whatever you want kiddo." Paused for a moment and then shook his lean neck, making his hoop swing about and glint in the sunlight. "Nifty, huh? I don't even remember where it came from. Pretty weird, but hey, ain't complainin'," he announced with his signature grin. Paused again, nibbling on his bottom lip in thought. "Do you know if you're from here, Dulcie?"

Those soft round eyes of hers

Those soft round eyes of hers different again as sparkles danced on the golden hoop. So very pretty. On her ear, hung a blue feather with darker blue stripes. Now, she never really paid much mine to it herself; seeing as she paid more attention to others. As the buck said her name, the tiny fawn took that moment in. He would be the many few . . . and she meant few, to call her by her name. Most dubbed her fawn or little one. Easier probably for the adults. "Hann . . . nnn . . . ible." Testing his name, but would in the end give him another; something easier to say. Even tho she was 'new' and young, a set little personality seemed to already grow in her. Hopefully she won't turn out to bad once those legs grow longer. ". . . where else would I bwe from?" Seemed like a silly question, a confusing question. Thoughts worked around, unsure where else would she be from.

This forest was indeed a strange place, but young Dulcie has yet to understand just how strange it could be. Those tiny ears twitched as her eyes fell onto something else around them; mind easily distracted. It wouldn't be til he spoke up, would she focus back into him.

my plans for dulcie aren't as thought out as my other characters.
booo, I'm a bad character 'player'. x3x

Salka's picture

Just as his golden hoop had

Just as his golden hoop had caught her eye, so did her lovely blue feather with his. Pondering, he wondered what kind of bird it had come from. A jay, perhaps? Or maybe it wasn't from a bird at all; maybe it was part of a headdress that she had found. Or maybe even she plucked it from the scalp of a fantastical beast...nah, that'd be a bit much. Then again, he had thieved his most prized possession. Who was to say that the fawn didn't have sticky hooves herself?

The buck snapped back to attention as Dulcie attempted to annunciate his name. and chuckled in good nature. "Yeah sorry, it's a bit of a mouthful I guess. I can't even remember where it came from," he mused. Indeed, he genuinely wondered. Perhaps a little too much. Trying to remember his childhood gave him headaches if he dwelled on it for too long. It was beginning to seem that the fawn had a lot of trouble remembering, too.

With a half-smile on his face, he shook his head and stood back up. "Eh, forget I asked. It doesn't matter, I guess." Paused for a moment and stole quick glances around him, ears swiveling. No one was looking at him...cool. Turning back to Dulcie, he grinned and pounced into a crouching position, tail flagged and flipping about. Somehow that very grin seemed to grow wider and he gently tapped her with one hoof and fluidly leaped off to the side. "Betcha you can't catch me!" the buck challenged, making a playful face as he jumped up onto a tree stump and posed.

[Awh, no, you're totally fine! It's totally okay to just go with the flow with a character; if anything, it tends to work out better than following a strict personality map. @.@]

Blinked again when she mentioned the skull, and then chuckled. "Oh, this old thing? No big deal, it just belonged to a big bad monster who was no match for yours truly," Hannibal announced proudly, flicking his tail up and puffing out his chest. Paused, then deflated and looked off to the side dejectedly. "Nah, I just, uhm...I found it. But it totally used to be a monster," he said in a hushed tone, then straightened up again with that same infectious grin. Yeah, he could never lie around kids. Zash braced himself beside a tree, watching the fireflies dart around a flower patch. There was something about them that was far more interesting to watch than the butterflies. Maybe the rarity of seeing them was what was interesting. Maybe because he remembered being young and being dragged out to catch them with Abby. [I will definitely keep an eye out for him! Looks like he's around Hannibal's age now, that's awesome. c:]

As it happened, another individual was enjoying the change in atmosphere, albeit a little gingerly. He had arrived in the forest from another world that was similar to this one, but unlike his world, this forest did not have a typical day-to-night transition. It was almost always day-time, and it tripped him up. He was already a bit of an insomniac, but that didn't prevent his internal clock from getting all screwy, and consequently his head. Maybe he was simply stressed from the concept that time held no meaning in this place. Yeah, that could definitely be it. But now that it was nighttime, or so it seemed, it came off as a relief. Finally, a change in scenery. And those glowing bug things were pretty nifty, he decided as he whacked a few out of the air gleefully and chased then all about in a lilac patch. So engrossed was he in engaging in madcap frolic that he almost didn't notice the buck standing off to the side, and upon realization he immediately froze and assumed a serious stance. And by serious, he actually appeared to be completely awkward and slouched. "Uh...hey. How you doing?" he called out sheepishly after a eternal moment of embarrassed silence.

•••

Poppy

Foreign, foreign...what did that mean, again? Why did that slip when he couldn't even remember what it meant? Well his head was still pretty foggy, so he hoped it had something to do with that and not premature old geezer syndrome. Ah, now he remembered! "Foreign means from another place other than this one," he replied with a flick of his tail, a little too proud about remembering something so simple. Hm...was she from another place? She certainly didn't look like any other deer he'd seen.

Ah geez, she called his bluff. Now what would he do? His credibility was flinging itself down an already steep, slippery slope...but that was assuming he had any credibility to begin with, which he did not. Probably not ever. "Ah, well..." he began haltingly, shifting from hoof to hoof and glancing off to the side, cheeks flushing. "His head was, ah...pretty small for his body. Huge, hulking body of sinew and muscle, but a tiny nobby head. He wasn't very bright, which is probably why he ended up as just a skull." Well, this was probably true. He had no idea what the skull once belonged to, after all. Only the original owner would know that, and there was no way he'd ever go back there to ask lest she take some even more precious to him. Undoubtedly the one thing left that identified him as a male. Oh man...

A dark blue figure rested alone at the base of a large tree, it's old roots sprouting up from the sodden earth and acting as a little nest for the doe. She had nestled herself under one of the larger roots that had grown upwards and then come back down, and it looked like a small den. The long and silver mane that grew from the young teenager's head cascaded down her neck and back, a bit messy with small flowers tangled in here and there. Her emerald green eyes peered around, searching for any predators, as she seemed to be a main target lately.

After finally relaxing, the doe had grown quite tired under the blanket of twilight that had been cast down on the forest, and her head gently lolled to the side as her eyes drooped. She shook her head though, swearing that she would not fall asleep, as a predator could be just around the corner. A snap of a twig caught her attention though and she froze, staring straight ahead, ears pricked and alert.
"W-Who's there?" Came her gentle voice, almost inaudible as she peeked out from under the large root.

The overpowering feeling of humiliation dissipated when the buck noticed that the other male was limping. He looked more closely and tilted his head at what he saw: three legs instead of four. Oh... Quickly the buck averted his gaze before the other noticed, rolling his shoulders back with a nervous chuckle. "I guess the answer to that would be pretty obvious. Guilty as charged," Hannibal replied with a grin, the flush in his cheeks not quite as prominent now as before. Paused for a moment, watching the fireflies flit lazily around his head. Odd, they didn't seem to move outside of the flower patch. Hm... Okay, this silence has gone on for too long. Gotta break that ice some more. "So, you got a name, witness of my shameful glee?" the buck asked with a soft grin.

[No worries at all hon! Sorry if I posted too late; I'm pretty ADD tonight and I'm doing a bunch of things at once skjldfh @.@]

It was a typical day (or night, as it were) like any other: unable to sleep as per usual, Hannibal had become restless and set out for a long walk. He felt as if he always needed to move, and it was frustrating. Sure, he could sit still if he needed to, but not for very long. It helped if he had company, but he usually didn't. That was fine though, he didn't mind as long as he had a tree to beat up. Which was exactly what he was looking for now.

The buck was picky sometimes: he didn't fight the same tree twice. Every sapling, elm and birch was a potential target, a fresh opponent that picked the wrong day to be a tree. Ah...here was one that may prove to be promising! The freckled buck trotted up the tree, on the other side of where the doe was hiding. He didn't even think to check for occupants, really; all he could focus on was draining all of this energy that was giving him the shakes. The trot turned into a gallop, and with a swift jerk of his shoulders the buck turned himself around and delivered a sharp kick to the thick trunk. Ooo yeah, right in the bark! Grinned as a chunk of the bark crumpled off, exposing the scrapes beneath. Nice, still got it.

Ah, alright! I try to go for

Ah, alright! I try to go for longer but I get tired sometimes. Or my muse just pulls up a blank.

The Gray pulled his attention back to the other male, realizing he had zoned out staring at the fireflies. The smile that had flickered on his face returned a bit, his brown eye settling on the other male.
He responded as he rose, giving an awkward half bow, "I am Zash." He grew off balanced as a firefly zoomed too close past his eye, the gray's head jerking a little bit as he pulled himself out of his little half bow. Butterflies and the bright flashing of their wings he was accustomed to; the slower moving fireflies with their single light, he was not. At least, not when they all liked to wander across his face. His smile had faltered after that, returning when he regained his balance to look over in the direction of the other buck, "What's your name?"

[Awh you really don't have

[Awh you really don't have to; I honestly don't mind responses of any length, just whatever the poster is comfortable with. c: My muse is constantly pulling blanks, like tonight lol gahh D;]

The bow was acknowledged with a nod, as Hannibal wasn't quite into the whole fancy bowing thing. He "got" it, but he believed that if he too bowed then he would feel out of place. It was also a strange feeling when others bowed to him; it gave him the impression of being important, but he didn't want to feel that way. It was too much pressure, too much expectation. But hey, he always accepted it; no way he'd be a jerk about it. Luckily, thusfar no one has taken offense to his mere nod in exchange. With any luck, this buck wouldn't mind either.

Zash...that was an interesting name. He liked the sound of it: it was strong and to the point. Definitely memorable. "Nice to meet ya. Name's Hannibal," the freckled buck replied with a polite incline of his head. It was a little concerning to see Zash stumble about on three legs, but the buck seemed quite used to the fact and regained his composure quickly. Hannibal let a long moment pass between them before taking a couple of steps toward the other male, casually flicking his tail, though for whatever reason he still felt a little awkward. "So...live around here much? I mean...you know, here. The forest. Are you from here?" Wow, that sounded dumb coming out. Oh well, can't be helped now.

Zash's smile faded as he

Zash's smile faded as he watched the other come closer after giving his name, making note of it. Hannibal. He didn't seem as terrible as the name suggested, but looks could be deceiving. Or...or not. He just seemed like an awkward kid.

"Originally?" he trailed off, "Technically I am...since...I wasn't born anywhere else before I died...but...I had a past life, if that's what you mean?"

The air around the doe had grown silent, and she thought that maybe whoever she had heard had left. That is, until a sharp crackling noise rang through her ears, as hooves connected with the other side of the tree. What the hell?! The poor little doe thought, sinking back into the large roots of the tree, hoping that if she didn't reveal herself that he'd go away. Would he? Slowly making her way out from under the tree, her large emerald eyes peered over her shoulder, hoping that whoever it was didn't notice or smell that she was injured. Could she run from it in time? She stared, wide-eyed at whatever it was, sinking back into the ground. I'm dead. I'mdead, I'mdead, I'mdead, I'mdead, I'mdead.

Waning-Sun Awkward was

Waning-Sun

Awkward was definitely an understatement, at least for the most-part. Hannibal talked a big game most of the time, but when he got caught off guard...well, it's all downhill for his credibility from there. Most of his energy and time is spent desperately trying to convince others that his lack of antlers doesn't make him any less tough, but he now felt that he didn't need to prove that to Zash. The other buck was welcoming and didn't seem very judgmental at all. And besides, the two had something in common: they were both missing something that made them whole. Hannibal took some comfort in that, and found himself admiring the stranger all over again.

Whoa, wait...died? The buck's eyes widened as he did a double-take. "Come again?" he gulped, scanning Zash's face for any suggestion of jest. There was none. "How...um, how did you...pass on?" he added after a moment, and then instantly regretted it. That was way personal. "I mean, uh you don't have to answer that...ah, sorry. Er...well you look really alive to me." An awkward half-grin accompanied the observation. Smooth, he scolded himself. But really, how do you react to an announcement like that? Curiosity burned within him as usual however, and a part of him hoped that Zash would be willing to share.

As per usual, the buck was quite oblivious with the task at hand. For a short while he continued to turn about sharply on his heels and deliver kicks to the trunk, each blow varying in velocity and power. The muscles in his back legs and haunches were surprisingly strong despite his lean, if not a little too skinny, frame. There was a wide grin on his face; he was exhilarated. After a moment he ceased kicking and switched to a crouching position, ready to proverbially headbutt the tree and show it who really is boss in these parts. It was then that he finally noticed the doe hiding in the roots, and he immediately froze, tail flagged. Admittedly, he was startled, but quickly regained his composure and tilted his head. "Oh...hey! I didn't know anyone was here. Um...are you alright?" She looked scared... Cautiously he stepped a little closer, offering an apologetic smile. "I won't hurt you. What's your name, little lady?"

[No worries at all, take your time dear! ♥]

Ariana watched as he

Ariana watched as he delivered a few more kicks to the tree, almost gasping as he crouched down to headbutt it. But then, he finally noticed her. "I, um, I- yeah, I'm fine," The doe replied almost too quietly, her frame tensing up as the stag stepped closer. She eyed him with curiosity, noticing that he had a human face. She slowly picked herself up, not really wanting to look vulnerable in front of this stranger. I won't hurt you. What's your name little lady? His voice rung in her ears, and it took her a while to finally get at what he was saying, shaking her head lightly. "S-Sorry. Um, I-- my name is Ariana. Who are you?" Once again, the doe's voice was just slightly above a whisper. She kept her emerald eyes locked on him, tail flagged just slightly, her head tilted whilst her silver hair draped over one shoulder.

[No problem at all hon! I really don't mind any type of post length, whether it be a sentence or a few paragraphs. Post what you're comfortable with. n_n]

A frown melted the buck's grin. Fine...yeah, she looked anything but fine. Poor girl looked scared out of her wits. Not only that, but she seemed a little too banged up for comfort. Seeing her tense, he stopped short and inclined his head, smiling warmly at her from between the jaws of his skull. The doe really looked out of it. Hm...maybe this would help. Carefully he removed the skull to bare his pale, freckled face. Hopefully now he looked much less threatening, if he did so at all to begin with. Well, kicking the ever-loving crap out of the tree didn't help him out much here, but what more could he do? In any case, she didn't look like she was about to bolt. So far, so good.

"Ariana..." he echoed thoughtfully. That was a pretty name, but he refrained from saying so out-loud; he was naturally awkward with giving compliments as it was. Took a moment to look over her hair, amazed by how long and sleek it was. Odd, given that she did not have a flat face like him. Flat-faces usually had hair, not the long-faces. But hey, he had seen much stranger sights in the forest. "I'm Hannibal, but you can call me whatever you'd like. I don't even know where I got my name," he admitted with a chuckle, rolling his shoulders to show that it was no big deal.

Erari nodded slowly. "Ok.

Erari nodded slowly. "Ok. Not know if from other place. Woke up alone. No one around. Not sure if came from somewhere else." The fawn shrugged.

The fawn listened intently as Hannibal tried to explain himself. "Well... okay. Doesn`t seem right, though. Why would big thing have small head? Maybe made for fight, not thinking? But how did get skull? Take time for thing to turn into skull, right?" The fawn wrinkled her nose slightly. Deer did have skulls under their heads, but how actually did those heads turn into skulls after a while?
