Fan-Art-A-Thon Writing Entries

Week One
Doe

“Mama..what’s that statue?”
The large cow raised her head to follow the gaze of her new calf to the apex of the bridge.
“Hm? Where?”
The calf took a few nervous steps forward and gestured again. “Up there.”
She raised her head higher and smiled weakly.
“Ah..that is no statue. That is Doe.”
The calf frowned and studied the large antlers perched on the beast. “Shes a doe?”
“No. That IS Doe. Why don’t you run a long and go say hello?”

“Won’t um…he just come down if he wants company?”

“I doubt it. He barely moves now days.”

The large calf frowned and nervously approached the towering beast before it. It was like no creature he had seen in the forest thus far. Wings…strange markings..It still appeared as a statue to him.
It gave him a nervous bow and stood waiting.

“Child.”
It whimpered softly and whispered. “H-Hi. I’m Marcaello.”
“Hello Jolly Roger.”
“I said my name was Marcaello.”
“I care not what you think your name is.” The large creature cast one scrutinizing eye on the small being and let loose a spell from his sitting position before turning his gaze back towards the koi.

The young these days with their names and such. He would have no part of it. The koi and flowers…he knew where he stood with them. The forest changed around him and they continued to stay in their allotted place. He did not have to force his aching muscles in order to befriend them. No.
They waited patiently for his return and on his leave barely noticed the departure. In their own little world and he was happy to join them.

Apologies for how short it is.
Doe's only biography was under construction and lacking information.
Did my best.

Week Two
Draum

Dreams were a funny thing really.
One day completely mundane, the next an exciting adventure unfolding before his eyes.
Was it that the dreamer dreamt a wonderful story, or did the wonderful story merely nestle into the first unassuming mind it crossed upon.
Regardless, the dreams of the forest were his for the taking and he took them without a second thought.

A malicious act?
No.

Dreams were frivolous lucid things in that regard. He could pluck the thoughts from the head of a new-born fawn and the next free wheeling fantasy would take hold of the child's imagination. Only the slightest furrowed brow and shifting expression alerted him to the minor discomfort of his actions.

Draum raised his head and listened intently to the forest around him. He tossed his head and tore his gaze away from his full dream catcher to check his surroundings. He had not heard any intrusion, but the shape forming at the corner of his eye on the back of a slumbering deer was enough distraction. Seldom did he set eyes on a dream taking hold, but it was always an event.

To find a dream not tainted by the imagination of a dreamer...

It was like chasing and catching a fallen star.

Draum approached the forming dream and leaned forward to whisk it away. Instead of placidly weaving itself into his dream catcher it formed into a tiny blue fawn which stared up at him in confusion.

A dream...fawn?

Draum leaned down his head to give the fawn a curious taste.
It tasted like a dream.
It did not look like a dream.

And as soon as it appeared it took off into the forest leaving him once again alone and puzzled.

A dreamt deer with a dream catcher name.
How puzzling.

Draum turned his attention back to the sleeping deer and waited silently. An empty mind was the perfect trap for the wayward thoughts of the forest. He would collect them all eventually.

He was ancient as it were and patience as the ages.
He could not catch that dream fawn yet, but some day it would make a misstep.

Week Three
Kita

Kita, as it were, was less than impressive by forest standards.
No large wings, no intriguing patterns, nor sordid past.
Mundane.
Tiresome.
Plain.
Easily over-looked.

While the rest of the forest ran about with their large skull faces, horrible pasts, strong antlers and constant drama she distanced herself.

Life had been hectic lately.
Troublesome.
She had these roles thrust on her by others, and she slowly started to feel ashamed.

Why couldn't she be that girlfriend that they both desired?
Mother? How was that a name for her?
Could she even be called 'friend' by Reed any more?
What was happening to all of the calm companions she had grown old with?

Kita furrowed her brow and looked across the pond where the dreamt deer and a few younger fawns played.
She wouldn't abandon them of course, but sometimes her friends were so troublesome.

They freely gave their hearts to her and she naively took them without a second thought.
And now...
It was all falling apart.

"I wish..that I could just go back to before I even knew what love was..."

"What is love?"

Kita jumped at the sound of the voice and relaxed as she realized it was only the dreamt stag she had seen around the forest.

Maybe two weeks ago she could have told him. That fluttering pulse, the feeling of walking on air, the complete and utter fascination and longing for companionship. Yet now it was all so confusing.

How could she tell him what she did not understand?
She looked out towards the forest again and saw the small fawns chasing after their mothers and the close friends playing.

Ah.
Yes.
She gestured towards where Basil and Atvana sat silently on the bridge and then to where Sasha and Rhys were chasing a small frog.

"That is a part of love. Accepting one another's faults. When people truly love each other they will remain friends no matter what foolish or hurtful things they say to each other. They do not have to do anything special together other than sitting or talking to be completely happy. They give advice and take criticism from each other and know that the other will always be looking out for their best interest."

The dreamt deer seemed to consider this for some time before he smiled faintly and nodded

"I see...what is a fault? What is accepting? what is friends? What is foolish? what is special? What is happy? Advice? what is that? What is...

Kita gave him a good humored smile and sighed softly under her breath.
This was going to take a while, but his eager questions were a welcome distraction.

Week Four
Dewydd Rhys This week was mine.

Week Five
This week was skipped.

Week Six
Terpsichore

"...What are you doing?"
"SHH!!! You'll give me away. Watch this watch this!"
"Okay okay what am I watching?"
"See that deer over there on the bank? Watch this-QUACK QUACK QUACK!"
"Dude that totally sounds fake! "
"SHH JUST WATCH!"

Terpsichore's head snapped up at the sound and he slowly scanned the reeds on the edge of the pond. He knew it was out there somewhere. The ninja duck. He had been stalking it for some time and now he seemed closer than ever. He could hear it out in the reeds, not the normal scattered quack here and there but a robust taunt. It was laughing at him.

He lowered his head again and pretended to graze at the discarded pine cones while he plotted his plan of attack. He had followed the source of the quacking to behind the log across the pond..but how to get to it?

A full frontal charge would just make it disappear in a puff of smoke again. He had cornered the duck in the reeds weeks ago but when he went to finally capture it the stealthy fowl had transformed into a log. It was a master of ninjutsu and he was only a mere novice. No, he had to be just as clever as the duck.

"QUACK QUACK!"

There it was again! He slowly backed away from the Pond's edge and started a slow backwards trot towards the bridge. Yes there were deer there. He could dance with them and pretend he wasn't after the duck. Then when it drops it's guard he'd pounce!

"Dude let me try.."
"Shut up you can't do it right!"
"I can too! QUACK QUACK!"

Another one?! He had hit the mother load! He must have stumbled on their secret ninja duck training grounds. He steadied himself on the edge of the bridge before dropping down into the reeds. Two small fawns were ducked down here in quiet conversation.

"Where'd he go?"
"I dunno...Hes gotta be here somewhere..."
"Are you guys looking for the ninja duck too?"

"Er..um..."
"Ha ha I don't know what you're talking about there's no duck here and we havn't been making duck noises or anything or uh..yeah wanna dance?"

What adorable little fawns! He was happy to oblige them with a dance though. He enjoyed searching for the ninja duck, but not as much as he enjoyed prancing with others. He had all the time in the world to find the mysterious duck, for now he only needed friendship and dancing.

Week Seven
Tails

"da na na na na na na na na na na....secret Asian man! Secret Agent deer! Showing pinecones..what for and...yeah I got nothing."

Tails furrowed his brow and lazily scratched his antlers against a tree.
"And you say this is a song from the human world?"

Finata landed by his side and peered out from behind the crying mask.
"Yes! I heard Rhys singing it a while ago when he was telling this story about a guy named Johns Bond. Apparently he was a really cool secret Asian man who drives fast cars."

Tails gave him another perplexed look before laying down.
"what...is a fast car?"

The younger stag seemed to stumble a second in his explanation and promptly made up an answer on the spot.
" Weeellll...You know when deer fall asleep and their bodies slide all around the forest? It's that. They move really fast. I bet Johns Bond just jumped right up on them and went all aroun-oh crap its Dad bye!"

Tails smiled weakly and laid his head down in the grass again as the elder stag took off after his child. It was strange how many odd stories the child brought to him. A deer riding a sit slider..? What a strange concept and yet...
He paused and raised his head as he watched Virgil speeding sideways across the ground.

A car.

He had to try it.
Tails got steadily to his feet and bolted after the sliding deer. He couldn't catch it with speed, no, but trickery. He hunched down by the reeds and made a flying leap the second the blurred pelt sped past him, causing it to abruptly stop.

There was a few moments of confusion and struggling before the larger stag raised his head to give his aforementioned rider a hard look.

"What..are you doing?"

Tails scurried off and stumbled over his words.
"I ah..Being a secret Asian man..?"

The other stag raised a brow and got to his feet before lumbering into the forest.
"I..see."

Tails stared after and sat down in confusion. Riding in fast cars and being a secret Asian man was suppose to get him a lot of does. Hm..maybe he was not doing it quite right.

He flopped back down by the pond and reminded himself to consult his younger friend about it later.
For now he was just content with being Tails: Lazy sunspot deer.

Week Eight
Dehy

Running, screaming, the sounds of pads against the underbrush. She thought she was past it all but in those split seconds as she felt the jaws nipping at her heels and woke up with a start it seemed all too real.

Dehy raised her head weakly and looked around the empty trees. She had been having these nightmares again for some time and it rested heavily on her mind. She was able to banish the thoughts in those short times she spent with her lover, but as he left her side to scour the forest for food they crept back into her skull.

For the first time ever she felt alone and the eerie howling from the depths of the forest did nothing to comfort her reeling mind. She tried to remind herself that it was only the god's doing. That it was only sounds, and there really were no wolves out in this forest. That small voice in her heard, however, reminded her that it could be. They could have followed her here. They could have tracked her scent, and she was far tastier in this new bo-
No.

Dehy scrambled into her feet and took off into the fog after her mate. She was tired of these thoughts. She might not be able to keep up as well with him, but she would rather be a safe burden than a patient coward any day.

Doe's Bio is always under construction... xD

You got one of his moods pegged though, good job. Laughing out loud
He doesn't really have much of a RP personality, because he kind of represents me in a way.
But I like the Jolly Roger part, it made me laugh, that's tottally something he'd say. xD

It doesn't matter how short

It doesn't matter how short or long it is really. The most important is the content and the message. I don't know Doe (as a character) very well, but I did like your story (: Can't wait to read more.

OMFG I laughed so hard! That's Terp all over. The crafty ninja duck turned into a log! This is absolutely fantastic! Poor Terp, if only he hadn't danced his brains out as a fawn... At least now I know where the quacking comes from, right? They should have a duck mask...
