No development grant for Phase Four

Our request for a grant to develop Phase Four of The endless Forest (or The endless Forest II as we are starting to call it) was denied by the Flanders Audiovisual Fund. As you may be aware, any major expansion of the game at this point requires remaking the underlying software in a new engine. The VAF have a rule against creating remakes that they invoked to reject our request. We tried to explain that the purpose is to expand the game and that remaking it is simply a technical necessity to be enable this. But to no avail.

But we have not given up, and are planning to run a crowd sourcing campaign to gather the necessary funds. As we are moving towards a completely non-profit status, however, we will need to wait a bit before we do that, for fiscal reasons. We're hoping to run the fund-raising campaign in Summer or Fall of 2016.

In the mean time our gratitude goes out to those of you who generously contribute to the maintenance of the game's server thanks to which you can all enjoy playing together. Please consider joining them.

That's really sad news considering I thought the grant was in the bag. Wonder if they would accept it if the expansion was presented to them not as development but a new game.

Although I'm new here (fawn

Although I'm new here (fawn with the orange flower), I've come to adore visiting daily and as often as I can. I care take the land we have here..the deer, turkeys, bob cats, racoon, possum, skunks and what ever is here. I'm out daily with the animals and have done many in depth research on birds and deer..learned a lot of communication and was able to become part of a "herd' of deer. They preened me and I them and even would warn me when I would venture into the deeper water. This game has captured a lot of what I have seen in them. I think i'm rather addicted to it and have come to recognize a lot of the others I see in the game. Tons of questions lol, but taking time to learn. Sad to hear that the funding hasn't come through yet and i'm glad you're not the kind to give it up and move on. Hope to see this one be with me for many years to come. How does one login to the game itself rather than the forums? I'm logged in on here but I can't seem to login in game.

Deerskull, is your account

Deerskull, is your account fully registered? They should have sent an email confirmation to the email you signed up with. To log into the game, you must confirm the picto using the link they sent you. There's a workaround link to do this but I don't have it at the moment.

If you have already done that, open the game and press ESC on your keyboard or click the coloured dot in a box that appears at the bottom left of the screen. This will open the menu for the game. Click on Network, and you will see a login box.

Your login information is case sensitive, so you will have to type your username and password exactly as you did in registration, minding all capitalisation and lower casing.

Sadly, often too much

Sadly, often too much emphasis is put on novelty, when not just innovation but preservation as well must work hand in hand to sustain and expand what has been put forward. The forest is an oasis of beauty, calm, excitement, humor, and virtual transcendence of our everyday forms and experience that allows me to look at my everyday life just a little bit differently, both for it's freedoms and it's limitations.

So glad to hear of the upcoming plans to update the Forest. I have enjoyed it, and been a contributor, for many years. Disappointing about the grant, but I foresee great success with the crowdfunding effort. I look forward to doing my part, and am so grateful to hear of your plans.

Weird thing to say, but just

Weird thing to say, but just today i had a dream of seeing a news page on my feed stating you succeeded to add several additions to game including new actions, locations and items.
The dream was extremely vivid and i do even remember some of teaser action icons.

Too bad this was just a dream. And even worse is that fact i have came here after a long period to see this.
I am totally participating in the fundraising campaign. I hope to find a job or some kind of income source to help.

I saw this just now, and that is a shame. But I'm happy to hear you haven't given up! Perhaps an official kickstarter or donation page would help you fund it, I'm sure everyone who enjoys this game would be willing to contribute in some way.
Personally I absolutely love this game and would definitely consider helping you fund this for a Phase Four.
