Inspired by Quad sitting with his friends at the Ruins as well as my own experiences.
-----------------------
The stars have mottled the sky. We can see them from here, through the old pillars and bricks of the Ruins. The Moon is full and bright in the distance, barely escaping the treetops in the distance.
Some of us have fallen asleep, dreaming their dreams without any cares in this Forest. Others are awake and alert tonight, staring into the blackness, worrying of any danger that comes near. I am staring up at the sky, my eyes on the stars. Thinking...dreaming about them. They flicker down on us like souls trapped above us all. Those who dream tonight take the stars for granted, while those who are wary of the danger at night underestimate the protection the heavens give us all. They also forget I am here with them, the light itself to drive away the dark.
I then move down to the Moon, my eyes adjusting to it's bright and glorious light. I can feel the night circle calling to me, I feel it's beautiful body pulling me toward it. If I was not bound to this land, to this Earth, I would be swept away to the Moon.
The lunar glow illuminates the land beautifully, and even the fireflies play nearby, their own lights a beacon for anyone who has lost their way in the dark. Rest your weary souls tonight, my friends. Dream your dreams. Let your bodies ease their burdens and pains. The land may be dark, but the light is never far away.
This was beautiful, Quad.
The part about the moon was a
I had to wrap my head around it that the Moon is a massive sphere circling around the Earth, that it's thousands of miles away, and yet it's big enough to see these beautiful details. I literally felt like I was being drawn toward it, like I would lose my footing and fly into the sky to land on it.
Anyway, Quad wanted to share a similar feeling in this writing. It's funny how he may be afraid to fight with the muscles and antlers of his body, but when other, intangible threats loom nearby, he has the perfect gifts to fight against them. When realizing this, we discover that when all of us are working together, nothing can harm us. And that goes for us as human beings as well.
Anyway, thanks for the comment. I wanted to write something tonight and this came to mind.
That's a really interesting
