Naturespark (shortstory)

Inspiration, and a little from this too

He stood before the world, staring deep with newborn eyes. The land was scarred, burning, withered, and dying...

Things were much different, a long time ago. The land was much more beautiful. What had happened was unknown to him, but he lived in the consequences of so many terrible choices.

"Mother...", he spoke, "How could it come to this?"

"It's our burden to bear, my son.", his mother replied. "None of us were the cause, but all of us must suffer."

"It's so unfair...", the fawn said.

"Nothing is ever fair. We live in times where those who live to serve and protect are cast down by those who only care for themselves...", the doe sighed. "Not one soul will ever give itself to save the others."

The words touched her son. He looked upon the crying land, and with deep confidence, spoke to his mother, "I will."

The doe looked to him in shock. "No, my son! You haven't lived your life! You should not be the one to sacrifice for the mistakes of the world."

Her fawn smiled just slightly, "It's okay, mother. I would give my life to see a beautiful world than live in this one."

And as the words were spoken, he rested his body on the ground, closing his eyes and speaking, "Let my life save the world." He drew his last breath and collapsed, his very life drawn deep into the earth. His mother watched as all around him sprung green grass and wildflowers. Trees seemed to shoot up, growing rapidly and digging deep within the soil. The land was transformed within a matter of moments, what would have taken years to do happened before the doe's eyes in an instant.

The naturespark slowed as things seemed to be set in place once again. A lush forest covered the barren land, and soon many other animals arrived to bask in wonder.

The mother herself held her head proudly. She even doubted her own son, and before her was nature that once would not grow. He was all around - a whisper in the breeze, a kiss of the mists, a playful sway of the leaves, a warm caress from the pure sunlight.

The fawn was with her in spirit. He was the one to set things right.

This one has a couple of

This one has a couple of hidden messages in it, but I wanted to write my own life goal in a different way. I've written this kind of story before (probably overused the theme of rapid growth over desolation), but it was just another idea I had that needed to be written down.

Thanks for the comments.
