Maya modelling - Progress + Picture

UPDATE; There's a few things that don't look quite right with the mesh topology so that's what I'm working on right now. Overall this could be better but not bad for my first organic.


I've had a project swirling around in my head for a while now. A few years back I studied fine arts in college and then decided it wasn't really the career path for me but I still love the things I learned from my pre-university course and would hate to see those years and knowledge go to waste.

I want to model 4 different "TEF" deer inspired characters; The Stag, The Doe, The Fawn and The Adolescent. However if any of you are familiar with Maya then you know how notoriously unreliable it can be (crashing pretty much whenever it feels like it)

I'd love to see some concept art or suggestions to maybe make the classic TEF deer a little more interesting looking without going too far away from its original look. Also if anyone wants to join in and make their own version I would love to see it. I've already started on the stag but right now it's more or less a blob (lol...)

I have very little time to work on my own stuff these days mostly because of work and because I'm really sick, I also have 5 kittens I'm fostering until they find homes, they're 3 weeks old roughly (feral kittens) so very cute but a lot of work.

Anyway that's it for now, I'll post progress pictures of my deer models when I can.
