Lapses in Judgement

If you know my writings well, you may notice a slight change in style. I was inspired by "An Occurance at Owl Creek Bridge" and attempted my own interpretation of realistic literature. I hope you enjoy it, this is one my few slightly silly stories. I also played heavily with words in here, especially with alliteration.

The first hungry thunder bellow of the year. A vivid blue ear flicked in retaliation, and the stump of the other remained in woeful slumber. In a larger aspect, there was a gradual awakening of feather, characterized with periodic yawns and groans. She drug her long limble limbs beneath her form. In sharp contrast to the event of gaining conciousness, the sky howled at her to rise. She complied with a skittering, tinkering tangle of limb that quickly found her standing startled in the soil.

On her rise, the sky rejoiced. Snow-laden eyes observed this plainly; little figures of lighting cavorting across the night and tossing happy sparks in celebration. However, the moment they ceased thier romping, the black beast of cloud thundered commands that the celebration continued. It made her lethargic lapse of thought cease its waves for a moment to bring about a suggestion of uselessness. Perhaps the sky didn't need her after all. But one could not be down watching the lighting dance daintly in the late winter sky.

Something stirred beside her, but did not rise. The lump of careless flesh hauled itself over onto its side to peer curiously into her wide-eyed visage. He stared solemnly; an amber concocture of weariness and concern. She broke the silence by purposely letting her color drained eyes search into his soul. Darcy looked uncomfortable under her stare, but she blamed him not. Her eyes, as previously noted, had lost every tinge of color and blazed an angry white. Vision hindered not but mind rendered hollow.

Rowan had become almost ghostlike. At lengths now she stopped and pondered over the smallest weed, and moments later forgot her intention in haulting anyways. One might dub her distracted, and it would fit like loose garment. One might call her mad, and, though the garment clung to her legs, it fit her not. She was, in contrast, not a miserable being of sorrow, either. In general she sacrificed emotion for fawnish joy, and when the time came for seriousness, she knew not where to direct her mind. To top it off, those shallow bladelike eyes would cut into the depths of one's soul and open wounds she knew not she caressed.

"Don't you hate storms?"

There was a pause, a drawling, lingering, fitting pause. At last, when he thought she heard him not and debating repeat of his inquiry, she replied, "What is hate?"

He was not in the mood for her mind-games, and sighed deeply. Resolution after resolution made him sigh again, and humor her awkward statement.

"Why don't you answer me that," he raised an eyebrow, "Row?"

Her long velvet display of feathers shifted and she made a nice pillow with which to place her face near his, so they might rest thier faces while they discussed nonsense.

"A lapse in jugdement?"

He didn't like her answer, but it brought about a thought.

"So you misjudged the storms?"

"No," she quipped quickly; almost in immediate response. "I hate them."

"But I thought you," he sputtered, groping in his mind for the bewildered words, "I thought you said it was a lapse in judgement. "

"I never said that."

He had a feeling she was playing dumb at this point, and stifled a somewhat amused grin.

"I hate you."

"That Sir," she perked up humourously, "Is just a lapse in judgement."

Your writing floors me every

Your writing floors me every time. I can't pinpoint what it exactly it is yet, but I die of happiness inside whenever I read it. I think it may be that your style has always reminded me of the old type of literature that one reads in English class. And for as much torture as it put me through (evn the shirt stuff like the story that you were inspired by, I actually twitched a little when you said the title XD, and The Fall of the House of Usher *creepy twitch*) I still love it to death.

I also like how it got a little humorous at the end..like a tiny little "oh snap" moment |D

Writing these useless

Writing these useless drabbles really comes quite easily to me. I get this feeling of pride from my work sometimes, and faithful readers like yourself reinforce my happiness. Writing is one of the few tasks I might call a hobby and to produce works that make my audience "floored" is really just outstanding. I really hope to further my practices in writing, especially dialouge and to alter my constant revolution around weather. It's such an interesting topic, nature. I can personify it however I like, it's really quite a thrill. :3 But I think my readers will soon get quite tired of it XD.

How you say you like to

How you say you like to "floor" your audience sorta reminds me of one reason I draw...I like to make people do double takes sometimes XD ....like how I sometimes hides symbols in stuff >.>

I don't think I'll ever get tired of reading about nature. Like you said, it's so vast and vague sometimes, you get to run wild with your ideas. Even if everyone else stops reading it I will XD

But yessss I love it too, it's gorgeous. Dying to meet up with Row in the forest again sometime. D8

If you slapped a monocle on

If you slapped a monocle on nature and doused it in Cato's artwork I might marry it.

Thank you so much Fayne :3 I love this soundtrack |D
