This is a direct sequel to
"Home Away From Home" (as if that wasn't obvious |D).
There are references to
"The Fence Proved No Match" and

He was looking at the pictures on the mantle as he thought over what just happened. That had been an...interesting conversation. Suiren had decreed she "supposed he could stick around if he wanted to since he was Touk's brother and they had an extra room." She just expected him to help out around the house while he stayed there.
Well, that was alright. It would give him something to do instead of just sitting around all the time.
His eyes moved between the photos -- most of them were more current, while a few were obviously older. One in particular caught his eye -- of a teenaged girl with a deer on either side of her. He recognized the girl as Suiren, smiling openly from where she was kneeling instead of wearing that poker face that had unnerved him. He was paying more attention to the other subjects in the photo, however...
A gray reindeer calf, antlers barely more than fuzzy bumps on his head, was laying down behind her with a blanket draped over him, his head rested on her shoulder as he looked at the camera in dazed curiosity. It looked exactly like a younger version of Toukan. Tundra looked closer at the ice blue eyes so similar to his own, not sure what he felt at that moment.
Breaking the spell, he pulled his eyes away to study the other deer that the younger Suiren seemed to have dragged over and was restraining from running away if the arm draped across his back was any indication.
The human face was uncovered, allowing a clear view of the wide sky blue eyes. Fur a golden shade stood out brightly, broken up by brighter gold and darker brown markings with a head topped by tiny antennae. Tundra blinked, recognizing the face despite its rounder, younger appearance.
The exact deer he had caused to fall out of a tree the other day when he had run into it!
He frowned.
..bright gold fur...sky blue eyes...
...!
The other guy that lived here! What had he been called? ...Kinsha! His hair was the same gold, eyes the same blue, face the same shape... That other deer had to be him!
...that explained the looks of curious suspicion he'd been given during the introductions.
Oh boy. Maybe he should just do that "concentrating" thing to become a deer again and head back to that weird magical forest. He suddenly wished his brother had stuck around instead of claiming that he should head home...
"That one was taken a week after Touk got here."
!?
Tundra whipped his head around, staring like a deer caught in the headlights at the blond that had seemingly snuck up on him while he was out of it.
How long had he been there anyway?!
Didn't even hear...
A brow rose, reminding him that the other had made a comment and he should probably respond.
He blinked. "Hm?"
Yea,
that was a great response.
Was that a crinkle of amusement? It was gone too fast for him to tell. Kinsha jerked his chin towards the mantle. "That photo there. He was...still kind of out of it at the time...but Sui wanted to get a photo when he started improving..."
Improving? Oh, right! The leg! He turned back to the photo, realizing that half-dazed expression and blanket partially covering him.
"...a portion of fence was also found broken after that day. It was...assumed he jumped it somehow and ran into the woods..."
He frowned as he pictured the scars on his brother's leg. How badly had he gotten tangled in that fence?
"Anyway..." The reindeer-turned-human blinked, looking back as Kinsha jerked his head past his shoulder, motioning towards the doorway behind him. "Sui wanted me to show you where you'd be staying." There was a kind of reluctant awkwardness to him that made Tundra think the girl had forced him into this, when normally he wasn't too social. Tundra could relate to that.
Realizing a response was required again, he nodded his understanding, the shorter man taking that as a cue to nod and head for the door.
Before he could pass the threshold, Tundra wanted to clear up something that was bothering him, catching the blond's attention. "Um..."
Kinsha paused, peeking from the corner of his eye curiously, but holding a sense of being on guard.
Yea, that was a bit unnerving, but all the more reason for what he was doing. "About that time...in the forest?" He saw the other's brow furrow in thought. "When I...accidentally made you fall from that tree?"
Recognition filled the other's face, the corner of his mouth tugging down for a second. "What about it?"
Eep. "I...never really got to apologize for that." He bowed his head a bit, squeezing his eyes shut as if afraid of what might happen. "Sorry."
...
He heard a sigh suddenly, and looked up to find to his relief, that that guarded expression had vanished. Kinsha waved a dismissive hand. "Yea, don't -- don't even worry about it. I'm pretty clumsy on my own anyway," he said with an embarrassed smirk, if that was even possible.
He'd teased himself. Not just assured Tundra it wasn't a big deal, but then joked about it! He blinked at that.
"So anyway..." The blond continued clearing his throat awkwardly. "About showing you around..." He turned, picking up where he left off in the start of his "tour".
Tundra smiled to himself. Yea, he definitely didn't mind the idea of staying here for awhile.
