A few days passed by, and everything became almost back to normality. Skokey became reaquainted with his friends, and Fulu ended up making some new ones. Most of Skokey's friends seemed to like the young doe, she was a lot like him. She was shy around other does, and especially shy around other stags. She met Vipin again, Darcy, Yorres, Seele and Saan, Ammy and Melinda, and Reetno, who had recently grown a lot older. Fulu seemed fascinated with Reetno's beak, which made him a little uncomfortable. Skokey tried to remedy the situation by telling a stupid joke, which made
him uncomfortable.
Vessel barely moved from his spot. His injuries had grown a lot more painful since the other day, mostly because he was sore. He had some trouble breathing, and the days seemed to be prophesying rain. Grudgingly, Skokey managed to carry Vessel over to the Old Oak. And just in time, a few hours later, it started to rain. Vessel thanked him heartily, and wasn't surprised to see little animals surrounding him again. Skokey tried to shoo them away, but of course, they wouldn't leave.
Everything seemed right, but Vessel felt something was wrong. He told Skokey about it in a dream, but he seemed to shrug it off. Vessel couldn't help but feel that the humans weren't finished with them yet.
***
The next day was sunny, without a cloud in the sky. And because of the earlier rain, it was nice, cool, and a little misty. Skokey decided to take a little walk by himself. Oddly enough, he found himself going towards the edge. Fenqua managed to catch up with him and started to prod him the other way. They heard a rustling near the edge. Skokey stood alert, keeping Fenqua behind him.
The three humans from before appeared out of the thicket, each of them holding guns. Before the deer managed to do anything, one of them shot at Fenqua. The bullet grazed her shoulder, causing her to flinch and bleed. Skokey found no kindness in these humans, and something rare was boiling up inside him.
"Fenqua, run. NOW!" He ordered her, but she stammered. He looked at her, his eyes glowing with rarely used anger. Fenqua paused, but soon fled back the way she came.
The other humans propped their guns, and Skokey scraped a hoof on the ground before lowering his antlers. Newly attached poppies delicately dangled from the tines, not prepared for what he was about to do. Skokey charged at the one farthest to the left. It managed to shoot him in the neck.
Blood poured from the wound as he rammed the human into a tree several times. Large red petals floated downwards from his antlers every time he hit the tree. Skokey ignored the wound as he kept pushing and driving the human into the tree until he was unconcious. The human farthest away from them shot, making another wound in his neck, and another in his stomach.
Skokey wheeled around and charged at the human who shot him, ignoring his wounds once again. The pain only fueled his rage. He rammed his antlers into the human, knocking it down. More blood spattered the ground as the enraged stag beat the second human with his front hooves. Until now, the third human was petrified by fear. But now he had come to his senses and raised the gun.
Two more terrible thunders were heard. Skokey stopped beating the second human and winced. A bullet was lodged in his rump, near his hip. Another went straight through his top right knee. Skokey limped for a few seconds while glaring wildly at the third human. Blood was starting to come out of his mouth from the two neck wounds. The second human managed to grab his gun and shoot at Skokey again, but he missed. He managed to break off one of the wings of his mask.
Skokey ignored the second human, and charged at the third. He hit the third human, who was caught off guard. He flew through the air for a second, then landed with a heavy thump. The two humans clammered to their feet and grabbed their unconcious companion, and ran.
"COWARDS!" Skokey screamed as they became smaller and smaller into the distance. He knew they couldn't understand them. He still screamed to them, "Fulu was foolish to trust you!!"
Skokey soon calmed down enough to cry out a little in pain. The five gun wounds finally came to his senses. He limped weakly back to the Old Oak, hoping Fenqua was alright.

Fenqua was standing behind the Old Oak, where she had come from. She stood there for several minutes, listening to the awful thundering booms coming from that direction. She almost couldn't breathe when she realized that the gunshots had stopped. And when there was no sign of Skokey, she tried to hold herself together.
Fulu stood to the side of the tree, hiding herself from Fenqua, but sort of spying on her. She had become worried. She knew those noises were gunshots. She wondered if they were shooting Skokey for taking her back home.
Fenqua saw a figure in the mist. She squinted, and saw that it was Skokey! She smiled, but it soon faded when she saw his wounds. Blood seemed to be pouring from his wounds, making a small dotted trail of where he was. Fenqua ran up to meet him, and he looked at her.
Skokey smiled, "Don't worry, I took care of them. They went running like the little cowardly worms they are."
Fenqua could tell he wasn't thinking straight. "Skokey, you've lost a lot of blood. Please, come into the Oak, you'll be safe there."
"Nah uh, I'm not going in that death trap."
"You just came out of a death trap! And you think the Oak will be as bad as that?"
Skokey winced again, he was starting to curse. Skokey never cursed unless he was under the right circumstances, and this wasn't one of them. Fenqua knew that. She was getting upset.
"Skokey, come on, you have to get in there, it's the only place you'll be safe!"
"I told you I'm not going in there! I hate it!" He coughed, causing more blood to spatter out of his mouth. "I'm... I'm afraid of it..."
"It's okay, you'll be fine... I'll be sure of that. Please go in..."
Skokey wobbled a little and fell to the ground, and cursed again. This caused Fenqua to shout out his name and sit down next to him, trying to pull him back up.
"Fen, if it's alright with you, I think I'll take a little nap right here..."
"No, Skokey, in the Oak. It might rain again."
He wasn't listening to her. "Just tell me if those humans come back for her... I'll send 'em running again... You can be... sure of that..."
Skokey passed out on the ground. Fenqua pushed and poked him, pleading for him to wake up. She tried her best to hold herself together, giving each push more force. She soon gave up and started to whisper to him sadly.
"The humans are gone Skokey... You can get up... You and Fulu are safe..." She rubbed her face against his, mixing tears with blood. "Please... get up... The humans are gone... Get up, Skokey... Get up..." She felt his breathing become slower and slower. Her pelt started to become saturated with his blood, and her face was red on one side.
She rose her head and looked at him.
Skokey seemed to draw his last breath...
