Fanart-a-thon #2!! Suggestion post!

RE-POSTING THIS SO IT GETS MORE VIEWS. Sticking out tongue

Alright, so I'm deffinately going to host a new fanart-a-thon sometime in the near future.
But first...
There are a few things we need to iron out, that caused hitches in the first, trial one. (:

So this post is made for people to post their idea, on how to make the fanart-a-thon work more smoothly.

FOR THOSE THAT DON'T KNOW...
The Endless forest fanart-a-thon is a giant exchange of fanart! Each person that signs up, gets assigned one week. Each week, all of the other participants, draw a fanart image, for the person who's week it is. Get it? Got it? Great!

This time around things will be a bit different:

1) Only people who have been ACTIVE members of TEF for 2 months will be alowed to join. Yes... This knocks alot of people out of the running, but it's important. Last time quite a few people joined who dropped out, or ran off.

2) If you drop out or run off, without a good reason, (Example of a good reason: A shark ate your drawing hand) then you will be banned from participating in any other fanart-a-thon events. Sorry. ):

3) If you have not completed all of your art for the weeks that have passed, you will not be eligible to recieve your own week, until you have caught yourself up. The people with the best track records will be the most likely to recieve their week earlier than others.

4) I will be capping off the number of participants this time. Between 10 and 15... You guys vote and let me know what number you think is appropriet.

5) UPDATE: I have taken down the voting, because all the votes so far were yes! This fanart-a-thon WILL allow participants to submit written art, as well as digital, and traditional art forms. (:

If anyone has other rules to suggest, please let me know and if they're legitimately important, I'll add them to the list. (:

Alrighty guys, let the suggestions begin! .Community Events

I think the new rules are a

I think the new rules are a good idea.
I hope you make anoter fan-art-athon, Im interested in joining.:]

Three months is a lonnng

Three months is a lonnng time...I can't say I like the idea of an 'age limit' but I understand the logic behind it. Perhaps lowering it to one month? Most people have decided if they're going to stay by then, and their deer has grown up so they usually have a character design in mind.

I thought briefly about

I thought briefly about lowering it to one month... But I just don't think that's long enough. I might drop it down to two months... Now that I think about it, three months sounds a bit long. I'll lower it to two month of activity.

And see how that goes. Sticking out tongue

I would like to see writing

I would like to see writing included.

I feel the fan-art-a-thon prevents many users who can't draw from getting fan-art because the artists of the site are too busy trying to chase down and draw for each other for this event.

If it were a separate event it would just fall apart and have no participation because all of the artists would have to be trying to draw for both the 'fan-art-a-ton" and the "fan-gift-a-thon". It can be hectic to try and keep up week by week with one event, but trying to juggle two in a hectic schedule? impossible.

Er..hope you get what I'm saying here?
Some of us want to feel included too, but we just can't draw at an acceptable quality to ever be considered as a participant to this one.

fff I fail for not including

fff I fail for not including this in my original comment, but I too would love to see writing included in the A-Thon. I really can't think of a reasonable reason why it couldn't be included.

I see what you're saying. I

I see what you're saying. I guess I'll put your vote down, for a yes then. Sticking out tongue

I just don't want to make the descision myself, and dissapoint some people on both sides. I want this to be a democratic, and fair vote. (:

oo that would work, and save a lot of hassle with two people organizing instead of one. I'm happy as long as writing gets to play a roll in something :B

I actually think 10 weeks is

I actually think 10 weeks is long enough. One fanart a week, for 10 weeks, is a long time. If you open it to writers, it becomes even more daunting.

I'm going to vote yes on the extending it to writing. Here's why:
Fanart-A-Thon is a relatively popular staple here on TEF. If we make a Write-a-thon, just for the writers I doubt people will join.

1. From what I've seen, most of the people here don't seem very confident in their writing skills. I'm not sure why this is, but it seems to be what I hear a lot of.

2. Most of the writers want to join fanart-a-thon because they want art. I'll admit it: I do too. If there's a write-a-thon, then it's just writng. No art. I've got enough writing. I've got writing to spare.

Day4 - Keep an eye out for

Day4 - Keep an eye out for the sign-ups post. It'll be in the next few weeks for sure. (:

Bylah - Yeah, I know it's a long time... I'm just trying to allow alot of people to participate, without drawing it out too long. I might cap it off at 13, because that rounds it out to about 3 months.

I'll put you down for a yes to writting, I'm glad that people are reacting possitively to the writting thing. I just didn't want to add it in without making sure it was okay with the participants. (:

Personally, I think writing

Personally, I think writing is a lovely form of art, so I think it'd be nice if it could be up to the artists about what kind of art they submit. I know that many people would be just as happy with a story featuring their deer as with a picture. Each takes a lot of thought and consideration, and I almost think that a story or other piece of writing takes even more thought. It is very easy to throw a sketch together, but there isn't really a 'sketch' equivalent for writing.

To sum it up, I definitely think that writing should be part of the fan-art-athon!

I think it'll be a few weeks. There are still a few people submitting last minute works for the first fanart-a-thon. (:

You can run it seperately if you'd like. Sticking out tongue

But it looks like the second fanart-a-thon will include writting. Nobody is opposed to it so far. (:

I would be intrested in

I would be intrested in joining (:
I allways seem to have to ask my friends are there any deers with really nice designs I can draw, because I just can not decide!
i would love to join, I have so much free time on my hands!
Thanks - MuffinBerry !

Mick - I get what you're

Mick - I get what you're saying. But Bylah made a good point. Alot of writters don't get much fanart, because they can't draw anything in return. It's usually artists drawing for other artists to get art from artists... Combining them like this really gives people who need art, but can only offer writting, a good chance to get themselves some nice pictures. (:

I think 10-12 people would be

I think 10-12 people would be appropriate for the number of participants.

It sounds like an odd number but I would like as many people as possible to be able to participate and I figured an even number would work better in the long run. That way you could balance out both writers and artists in even sides. Smiling
Doe's picture

After seeing ya'lls

After seeing ya'lls discussions on the other post of this, I think I'm going to limit the number of people who are only, or mostly submitting writting, to 2-3.

That way they can be involved, but won't overwhelm the event. (:
