Jergens - (Deer open, Human open)
Faith - (Deer open, Human open)

The boy’s cheeks puffed out

The boy’s cheeks puffed out for a moment, feeling a bit insulted at it all, how dare this mere mortal not cherish the fact that he was telling him what he was.

His wings gave an annoyed flicker, stirring up a few small leaves.

”I’m two hundred and thirty four.” he smiled, moving ahead in that dainty way of his before turning around again.

”I knew that I was older” he laughed softly, spinning once again.

He would have been tempted to simply show his wings, but no, not with other humans about.

Hey, they said that seeing

Hey, they said that seeing was believing.

Jergens hadn't believed in talking deer until he had met Malware, and he sure as Hell wasn't going to believe that this kid was a fairy until he got some effing proof.

"Heh... Wow... Y'know, ya look more like an eight year old than anything else." he chuckled, not really caring whether or not he meant offense. Even with people he loved, he had always had a habit of being blunt.

He raised an eyebrow at the leaves. No... No, of course not. Fairies didn't exist.

Then again, creepy human faced talking deer didn't exist, either.

Neither did personified versions of countries and states.

...

Jeebas...

Another puff of the

Another puff of the cheeks.

”well fine maybe I’ll just leave!” there was a soft fluttering of air.

and he was gone.

Or so it seemed anyway.

”unless you would rather I keep you company, you could always say sorry” the tiny creature inspected its nails from its place upon Jergens’ shoulder.

”you seem like you could use help so here’s the deal”

He smiled, a now much more pointed ear twitching.

”you keep me safe and fed, and I’ll help you make money. I’m a decent theif you know”

Well I'll be damned. Kid

Well I'll be damned. Kid wasn't lyin' after all.

He wasn't all that surprised, really. After all, as it was said before, he had seen stranger. He twitched a little in surprise at the fairy's touch, but did nothing more, a sly smile already curling up his lips at the offer he was given.

"Money for food and safety? Kid, I need food and safety too. Money is just a too for that." he chuckled, a sly grin washing over him and he looked around the area, taking note of the people around them.

"Alright. Ya say yer good. Show me." he spied an ever-alert, rather paronoid old man strolling up the street towards them, his hand firmly grasped on his back pocket, a long golden watch chain trailing from his front pocket.

Oh, he'd do quite well.

"See that man?" he flicked his eyes over to him. "Wallet and pocketwatch. If ya can take em without getting the cops thown on yer ass I might consider helping ya." he leaned against the wall, a casual, more normal smile on his face.

The act was on.

The fairy smiled. It gave a

The fairy smiled.

It gave a small flutter of its wings, looking around, no more than a simple bug to anyone who didn’t look too close.
the Fairy seemed to think for a moment before looking around once more, flittering back with a small rock.

First thing first, that watch.
a small tug was given, then another, pulling it from its place and slipping the stone in as to make sure the weight and feel would not be missed.

And of course at the feeling of missing something that hand moved to check his watch, patting gently.
and it was then that the man lost his wallet to the clever fae.

It was hard to flutter back, the objects were rather heavy.
he sighed, flopping the objects in front of the red haired man.

”I don’t eat much” he assured.

The look in his gray eyes was one of deep concern. Something was wrong...wrong. What could it possibly be?
At that very moment, he tripped over the source of his worry. Normally, he was anything but klutzy, but somehow he hadn't noticed the other red stag curled by the Idol.
With an exclamation of sudden fear, the large red stag trips, managing just in time to roll out of the way and avoid crushing Jergens.
Laying on his side now, The Priest struggles to right himself, rather embarrassed but hiding the fact well behind a small smile.
"Jergens..." he murmurs, coming to a standing position. He offers a small bow in greeting, but freezes suddenly in mid-bow.
"Is something wrong?" His eyes are narrowed, watching. The stag had sensed something within Jergens.

This kid was good. Hell, he might'ove been able to teach Jergens himself a thing or two. He smiled, and lightly, very lightly pat the fairy's shoulder in approval.

"Yer good, kid. " he smiled. "Really, really good." he almost glowed in impressed wonder. It wasn't often that you could find a good child pickpocketer.

"Hm... I guess I could oblige then. I think we could both do good helping one another out. Don't ya think?" he tapped his lip in mild thought.

If it had been another stag, he probably would have laughed his ass off, The Priest was different though. The Priest demanded respect.

Respect from Jergens? That was almost impossible... Only a few deer got it, and the red stag that had fallen over was one of them.

He quickly unlatched himself from the idol's embrace, taking a few cautious steps forward, gently bumping his head into stag's neck.

"Dad... Would ya believe me if I told ya that I'm losing my mind? Because I am..." he faltered for a moment before continuing.

"I did some awful things yesterday..." he mumbled, the large scab on his head standing out now. Granted, his mask covered most of it up, but it was still unpleasent to look at.

Vanny~

He chuckled at that little gem of a remark. "Seriously, man. I may be an asshole, but I'm not an effing sadist. Don't worry about it. I could learn some tricks from ya, anyway." he smiled, leaning his head back against the wall with a content sigh.

"And if ya think I'd sell ya or somethin', ya got another thing coming. I'd rather steal my money."

It was true.

Jergens loved stealing.

"Of course I believe you, Jergens. I have no reason not to." The stag smiles in a fatherly way towards Jergens, motioning for him to sit. Few earned Priest's true affection, but Jergens was certainly one of them.
"Insanity happens to plenty around here when they find that they cannot handle reality any longer." He nods, almost to himself, frowning.
"Tell me where you got that scab and tell me about this insanity." He sizes it up, hiding a little wince. That was a nasty one. He hoped it wasn't another stag that had done it. That would make trouble.

He shifted himself over to sit next the stag, letting himself gently lean against him. He flicked an ear at his father's mini-speech, slightly nodding his head even if he didn't fully understand it.

"I did it to myself..." he mumbled, refering to the wound on his head. He said nothing more. After all, it would be explained soon enough.

"I can't explain it... cause' it dosen't want me to..." he wanted to slap himself.

(idontlikehimjergensmakehimgogogogo)

He flinched, shaking his head slightly. In his carelessness, a part of his mask had started to rip off. Damn...

"It." The word is said with such hatred and spat out. A fire glints in his old eyes and he grimaces.
"I knew that I sensed something that was not quite you, Jergens." The dark red hairs along his spine begin to bristle and he coughs, once, feeling a little ill. Dark things had that effect on him.
"I wish the forest had more healers, and I certainly know very little about it myself." He eyes the wound for a moment, then rests his head gently on Jergen's back.
He would kill whatever was harming his adoptive son, especially as it was dark, with bad intentions. A low growl came from the old man.
No, he wasn't pleased at all.

Seriously...

"Better yet, what do you like to eat?" hey, he cared about kids, and he still thought of the little being in his pocket as a kidm even if it was older than he was.

"I cannot just leave you alone when you are like this. Do not worry for me, Jergens, fight for yourself." Red fur along his spine raised and his gray eyes glinted, watching Jergens. For a moment, a hoof was placed on the curly red buck's side, then was removed as he watched.

He put his head on his neck, his lips near his ear. He couldn't heal his physical wounds before he didn't help him in his inside... he already didn't have much energy left. He softly pressed his lips on his neck and then started whispering calmly, maybe he could hear him in his mind... maybe.

About how they've met for the first time, how they've played and cuddled together. And he also told him about his sister, how cute she was, how lovable and how much joy she always brought to everyone. About all their other friends, dancing together, talking together... having fun. He sometimes placed his lips on him so even more positive energy could flow into him... trying to repress the nightmares and the shadows.

And in the end he reminded him of all the people who loved him for who he was.
"And I love you too...please come back big brother." this were his last whispered words before he fell asleep, too exhausted to continue right now. He sincerely hoped Jergens wouldn't be lost in the darkness for too long.

The sight of the red stag picking up the face covering, for some reason, made it twitch and squirm underneath his hoof, trying to get away. After all, the mask was it's weakness. The mask was the sanity. The mask was the only link back.

Shining blue fur travelling

Shining blue fur travelling along, a glistening light shining through in the night. Lightning internally illuminating him, and the path in front of him. The white shape hides from him. He looks into the bush in which it is hiding, his large antlers, clearing the way for him to get in close and see the little deer that is there. Fur as white as snow.

"Do not worry, little one," Kylar's voice carries a tone of gentle reassurance, that he is not there to harm him. He hopes that it will comfort the little fawn in front of him. "I will not harm you. My name is Kylar, what is yours?" He has found that calming the little frightened fawns of the forest is most easily done using the general chit chat of small talk.

There is something familiar in this fawn, however. He has not seen the fawn before. Perhaps he was once human and he knew the person? That had happened before in the forest. He figures that the answer will come to him upon learning the name of this fawn.

Mick~ ((Oh, hello thar

Mick~ ((Oh, hello thar x3))

Kylar? The fawn's ears pricked upon hearing the name. How many years had it been? Many, be he still remembered. The accent and the lightning illuminating the area was a dead giveaway, after all.

He said nothing, but took a few steps forward, red eyes locked to the stag's face.

"Hello Kylar, my name is Faith Bartleby. Remember? You ran away from me..." he said, an eerie tone of flatness to his voice. He wasn't angry, but he was annoyed.

"You never even said goodbye to me..." he murmured, lowering his head. He would admit that he had a certain soft spot for Kylar. After all, he was one of the few who had ever really gotten close to him. Still, he couldn't help but feel betrayed.

He knew that part of it was his fault, that he hadn't been so noble and foolish then Kylar wouldn't have ran away and left him to die.

As awful as it sounded, he couldn't be angry.

His golden hooves reflected the lightning that was cast, almost bouncing off of them.

"I'm sorry about that...I

"I'm sorry about that...I just...I couldn't...kill you," Kylar replied desperately hoping for forgiveness. It was things like that this that scarred him with their presence until the forgiveness could be granted. He knew that for some things, that would never happen though so he knew that some of the scars would be something he carried for the remainder of his life. He just hoped that this wouldn't be one of those things.

"I take it...you...died?" He asked in a whisper. "That's how a lot of people get here...I mean I only saw you like two weeks ago, but I know some people have huge time differences in their lives, from human to coming into here..." He wasn't really sure what he was trying to explain there. People came in at different times, that meant that things had happened to them, that had not yet happened in the world of Kylar, since he simply entered and left in real time.

Mick Kreiger: You Know You Love Me XOXO
GingerNut's picture

'Sorry?' Was he really,

'Sorry?'

Was he really, though? Maybe... Maybe not. Yes, part of it was his own fault, Bartleby knew that, yet his own selfish personality didn't let him forgive, much as he wanted to. After all, he often had a way with pushing people away from him, especially when he knew that he would have to watch them die.

"I... You left me to die out there, and you knew it. I wasn't forcing you... You didn't have to take it personally..." he lamely mumbled, staring down at his two front golden hooves. "I didn't die there... Jergens took me back, but I did die a few days later." he concluded, taking up a shining hoof to nibble at it, clearly uncomfortable.

He thought for a moment at Kylar's next question, wondering how to exactly word it. "I've been here for hundreds of years..." he tried to explain. "I've tried to kill myself, but my flesh always heals itself. I never age, and I'll never die." he looked back up the stag, tilting his head slightly.

"And you?"

ShadowsofLight's picture

"I'm visiting...I can come

"I'm visiting...I can come and leave as I please...no time passes for me in the human world," He said. He could spend days in the forest, and return to exactly the moment when he left. It had been a strange thing at first. Now though he was used to the time discrepency. Hundreds of years? That was a long time however. "Did..." He bgean, before stopping for a moment. "Did...you ever forgive me for running away?" He asked.

His tone had remorse for running. He knew that it wasn't right to have run away and simply left him there, he could have died. He died not that long after. "Why...why can't you leave?" Kylar eventually asked. He knew that most other people could in theory, leave by their own death. Some had died when he had been there. He knew it was rare that someone in the forest died. They could sustain a lot, however at the same time,, there were moments when the forest deer seemed to be as fragile as porcelain dolls, the slightest provocation and they would split apart.

Forgive? Visiting? As for forgivness, he had never given it much thought. Did he forgive this deer/human?

He didn't know.

So that was what he would tell him.

"I don't know." his tone was blunt. Bartleby wasn't good with people, and this was a perfect example of how socially awkward he really was. His tail flicked, and he lifted a dainty hoof, bringing it to his muzzle to lick and polish. It wasn't that he was vain, he just liked being clean.

"Hm... You live two lives, then? Odd... This is the only time I've heard of it, then aginn, I usually keep to myself around here." he flattened his ears to the back of his head, as if he were jealous of the stag in front of him.

He was.

"I have tried multiple times to commit suicide, and... I honestly don't know... Why I can't die... Why I'm always a fawn..." he paused, pondering it over. "Maybe it's supposed to be a reward... For physically suffering so much as a human. Honestly, I consider it to be more punishment than blessing."

He thought some more, tilting his head.

"I assume your... powers help you leave?" he finally asked.

He thought about it, but

He thought about it, but Kahlan could leave as well just by wishing to, so he doubted it was that. Perhaps the forest was as permanant or temporary as it needed to be. Kahlan and Kylar used it to see people, or to relax in times of great stress, however, he didn't believe that his powers had anything to do with that, since it was neither lightning or life force that created the doorway out. "I think that, we can just leave," Kylar said honestly but with a shrug of his shoulders to show that he wasn't a hundred percent certain.

"And...where do you think one would go after dying here?" He asked. He was curious as to the thoughts of this little white fawn that he had known so well in life. It was something that he was interested in. Where was the afterlife if one could die here. Were you reborn into the human world? someone completely different, with different thoughts and feelings, or were yoou sent into some other place, to go on forevermore, with different bodies upon each death? Perhaps from there you were sent to wheever it was that you needed to go, for it seemed that people who came to the forest, seemed to need to come there. They were all there for a reason, unless they were born there.

Most howvever it seened had come there later, either through running, or portals, or as was quite often the case, death. The forest then seemed to determain their appearance based on personality and interests, or in some cases, they appeared exactly the same, however that was the deer that had already been animals before coming to this house of deer. He was unsure. "I hope that, you can someday forgive me for what I did to you..." Kylar added.

"True, true..." He said, he

"True, true..." He said, he sniffed the air and perked his ears looking for something to eat, He noticed a frog hopping around and said "I'm right back" then he attacked the frog by snapping it up in his mouth. Making the blood dripp, he swallowed the frog and then licked his mouth from the blood.
Then he looked back at the stag waiting for him to say something
