Everchanging life.[Chapter III added!]

Chapter I: Unrecorded.

The night breeze was ice cold when it gently tickled the round doe resting underneath the starry sky. A tear that was running down her cheek got colder after every second it was there. The first tear was followed by many others. The doe had cleaned up a small area of snow before she had laid down there waiting for one of the lifes most precious miracles to happen. Her eyes were tightly closed to prevent tears from falling, her ears were pressed against her head to prevent herself from hearing the same hurtful insults over and over again.

The pain was unbearable but somehow even the smallest touch of a younger one could ease it up a bit. The muzzle of her first one touched hers gently as a sign of encouragement. Everything would be fine. Just fine. Her second one laid down beside the doe giving her a chance to lean on someone. The first one, the male, lifted his head up and scanned the environment and searched for possible threats. The second one, the female, nibbled her mother's fur trying to calm her down. It would happen soon. Soon would it be over.

The doe screamed, kicking the air with her legs while her daughter tried to keep her still. It was time. The male's ears perked up as he got ready for the arrival of a new sibling. Head first. Then front legs. Then the whole fawn was lying there with her eyes closed. It was unusual for a doe to give birth to a fawn during winter time. The fawn didn't have enough fur to keep herself warm and the mother was too exhausted to keep the little one warm. The elder sister stood up and gently placed the new born fawn between her mother and herself. It would be warm enough there.

As the male came closer to the new born to investigate her, he heard a crack not far away from the four. He turned his gaze to the direction of the sound and right there in front of them stood a massive male with his head held up high as he looked down on the group. His chest was puffed as he took a few more steps closer until he was face to face with the younger male, his own flesh and blood. The younger male was determined not to let him pass nor go anywhere near his new sibling.
The fawn who was lying contently between the two females had no idea that someone would already be after her head, willing to harm her for life. No words were spoken in the entire time, the two males stood there glaring at each other, both ready for their next move. The younger male had to back off when his father's antlers clashed into his. The weight of the older male was too much to handle for the young male. The both stubborn stags had concentrated only on one another while the females had escaped with the new born fawn, who was hardly able to walk just yet. Her older sister had carried her and her mother had kept an eye on her so that she wouldn't fall down.

From the distance the does heard a cry of an almost adult stag whose chest and face were covered with his own blood. His fathers antlers had cut him from several places. It was the pay back for preventing him from getting to the brat. The new born fawn wasn't his, it was someone else's but the mother of hers was the male's property. His only. To keep the position of the herd leader he would have had to get rid off the new brat.

Silence. The cry had stopped and only thing left was silence. Both of the females lowered their head with their ears pressed to their head, Reyes was gone.

Thumpthumpthump. Hoof beats echoed in the otherwise silent, empty forest. The large male was running closer, soon he'd find them and only God knows what he had in that mind of his. Ever since the doe's pregnancy became visible, he hadn't been himself. He had turned into something fully different. Frightening.

Only one look from the doe to her daughter and it was clear for her what to do. The young doe gave her mother a nod and a brief nuzzle before vanishing into the shadows. Coco wasn't able to see a thing in the deep fog, she had no idea of where she was going or where she even was. Determined she kept running until the air started to feel different. The scent became different. There was not much snow on the ground and the breeze was slightly warmer there. Some blue flowers were still viewable and the young doe placed the sleeping new born beneath them.

"Rest, Little one, rest. Someday I'll come to you."

A gentle kiss was placed to the fawn's forehead before the young doe went back to hide her scent marks, making it impossible to track the little one down. Only she knew where the new born was.

Chapter II: Reunion.

Late at night a doe colored in dark brown made her way to the forest she once visited, the time had come. She inhaled the scent of the forest, it was different from the one she had lived in. Everything in this new forest was different. Only one thing in the depth of it was familiar to her. One little flower.

The fur of her neck stood up as she tried to keep herlsef from fleeing and from screaming. There were wolves resting beside deer, other predators among the sheep. Her heart thudded in her chest and her instincts told her to leave now when she still had the chance. Her tail had been hiding between her legs ever since she had stepped her hoof into this place. After taking a deep breath she opened her eyes and walked forward, determined as she was. Not far behind her there walked a male, colored just like the doe in front of her. He had followed her to make sure everything was going to be alright. Coco froze again when she saw her baby sister sleeping among the blue flowers. Reyes, Coco's older brother, would have been proud to see how beautiful her little sister had become. He never saw that day.

Coco's eyes filled with tears, she had thought that this forest would have been better for her. At least she was alive. That was what mattered. The dark brown doe lowered her head and nudged the young one gently with her muzzle, hoping she would wake up.

Miyako's eyes opened slowly and a yawn escaped her mouth. Her vision was blurry but was able to see two dark figures watching over her. She had no idea who they were but the doe there seemed familiar. Like she had seen her somewhere, sometime. As her vision became sharper, she noticed that those two were not from here. She stood up with her ears flattened to her head and backed off a few steps.

The male took a few steps closer to the young doe. He was a new encounter to Coco, as well. He is the oldest of the offsprings, the one who was driven away just like Miyako was. Miyako and the male had the same parents, Coco had a different father than the two.

With a quiet and soft voice the dark brown doe began to speak. Her angel-like voice was comforting. Miyako was no longer threatened by the two strangers and soon she learned that there was her half-sister and brother standing there. She could not believe that she actually had a family outside the forest. In the end, her parents were not those who lived outside the forest. Djinn and Mortis were her parents.

Tears.

Laughter.

More tears.

All three of them had curled up together beside a tree as the sun was rising again, soon it would be time to go back to the herd outside the forest. Coco places a gentle kiss to her sister's forehead before she turned away to take her leave. She also placed a red feather in front of the doe. It was taken from her feather necklace. A gift from her mother. Coco was meant to give one of the feathers to their little one. Before walking away she glanced once more behind her. There they were her sister and brother side by side. Someone had to say to watch over the youngest one, keep her out of trouble. The male laid his head on top of Miyako's.

"You're safe now, Little Flower."

Chapter III: Death.

How would you feel if you woke up in a place that you had never seen before? The place would smell different as it looked different. The air wouldn't be as fresh as to what you had been used to. Even the soil wouldn't be the same, it would be dry and dust would fill your nostrils and make you sneeze.

But the worst of all would be when you looked around to see what had happened to you and you'd see your whole body covered with small cuts and bruises. Your face would be sore, especially your other cheek, your other side.

What if someone had dragged you miles and miles across the deserted ground and left you lay there alone?

A night before the doe had been playing with her mother and a stag who had only recently become something of a step-father to her. The joy of seeing the two as happy as ever made the doe herself content.

The worst mistake the doe could have done was leaving the two alone and isolated herself from them in order to get some rest. And so she did.

On the other side of the forest there laid a stag, who's instincts told him that everything was not alright. With stretching his limbs he stood up and sniff the air. The male trotted a bit searching for possible threats and the scent he caught belonged to the worst threat of all. It belonged to the same mighty male because of whom Miyako had been brought to this place. He had found the portal.

K ran to see if his sister was still safely resting like she had been only a few moments ago. He saw a tiny splatter of blood on the ground. He sniffed it and as he let his gaze search for more clues he noticed a trail going on and on. He pinned his ears backwards, snorted and began to follow the marks and soon the marks disappeared near the bush where the portal was. K lifted his head up carefully looking around to see if someone had followed him. There was no soul near by and then it was his time to jump through the portal.

The doe stood up shaking the dust off her creamy fur. Every single movement she made hurt her muscles. Her ears perked up as she tried to figure out what was this place. From behind she heard a low, low voice.

"Don't move."

And at that moment the doe froze. Only her ears flicked around and she closed her eyes. For a moment she did not even breath, she didn't dare to.

"Aren't you pretty little brat. No wonder why your mother told Coco to get you away from here. Away from me. "

The low voice continued after its source had taken a few steps closer.

"It would be a shame if I got my claws into you. Such a pretty face you have there."

The older male began to circle to the doe and then the doe was able to see the one who had been speaking to her. The stag was magnificent, his antlers were massive and white. His body was colored in black and eyes dark as the night itself.

The doe's tail hid between her legs when she felt his breath on her muzzle. It was cold, so cold. This was no new situation for the doe, he was not the first one threatening her and still she could not think of a way to get out of this. Could this be the end?

...

......

??!?!!

"Get the hell away from her, Vincent."

A loud growl-like voice snarled right behind the older male. K knew this day would come and this was his purpose of existent. This would be the reason behind his coming to the forest.

The older male was not expecting to see the other brat of Carla's. He had forgiven the doe once for giving birth to another male's child. He would not do it again. A deep frown visited the older male's face as if he was trying to tell the other one to back off, this was none of his business.

K did not bother to notice Vincent's warnings, instead he rushed right at him aiming his antlers straight to Vin's chest. Antlers clashing the older one dodged the attack and threw K in the air. He hit the ground harsh. Determined as he was he attacked again and again.

Miyako fled as she always did when she was threatened and someone came to rescue. Always fled. Her hooves hit the ground in an amazing speed, the doe had never ran so fast.

She had to stop when there was no longer sounds of a fight. It was death quiet. Her heart beated in her chest as she wondered if she should go back to see what was going on. And so she did. She made her way to the battle field slowly watching her every step. It was too quiet, she thought there was something horrible going on.

Her instincts were not complitely wrong. Something horrible had happened. Both of the males laid there unmoving, not even their chests moved up and down. Neither of them breathed. There was blood everywhere and the doe could not believe her eyes. The one member of her biological family who had become close to her was now gone. All gone. Forever. She could only stare at his corpse and tears filled her eyes in no time. She collapsed next to her brother and buried her face into his dark brown fur.

..

....

....

The sun was about to rise in the horizon and the first rays of the sun woke the doe up. She had spent the entire night next to Khaelh, her hero. Now there was one more member in the list of the creatures that have saved her.

The doe stood up trembling, nudged the cheek of the male.

"Goodbye, my savior. My brother."

With only a whisper she said her farewell to him, turned around and slowly started to make her way back home.

Bruised.

Broken.

Empty.
