Echoes in the Mind

[EDIT] Dammit! Cato cannot spell at all >:C I'm sorry for bumping this, but I am VERY anal about spelling, I just had to go back and fix it. If you already saw this, or don't want to, then please ignore it, it was just really bugging me once I noticed XD

pfft.....screw it. Adel is too fun for me to work with. He acts so emo and grumpy, but he really isn't. Human Adel is easier to work with for me, and I need to get used to how he acts as a human for later. And since this is the only place I feel comfortable with writing.......I annoy you guys with it :3

Features all three of my boys and Darren, the random thing that "followed Atiq home"

If I feel like continuing in someway, I can include others, if they ask, and........yeah. BYE.

OHOHWAIT.............Adel said he likes this song: Echo - Trapt and it also goes along with him too well X3.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was just another normal day, nothing uneventful seemed to be happening on the busy street. People walked by bundled up in their coats and scarves to keep off the November chill. The tall buildings stood as high as they did every day, and the apartments had the same tenants running in and out like a hive of bees. The halls of the apartment building were quiet and empty, until you came to a certain one, where yells could be heard within.
"WHERE'D THE TOWELS GO?!" Came a muffled yell from behind a bathroom door.
Atiq turned around in his seat and answered, "Lier's washing them. I thought Darren warned you not to take a shower until they were done?"
"Oops,"came a murmur from a corner of the room.
Atiq shot Darren an annoyed look. "What a memory you have. Well Adel, just get dressed anyways."
"ARE YOU INSANE? Do you know how hard it is to move around in wet jeans?"came the disgruntled answer.
"Well then just stand there and air dry or go around in the buff,"Atiq turned back around in a huff and went back to reading the newspaper.
About ten minutes later, Adel came out, hair still dripping with water and shirt sticking to his wet back. "What's taking Lier so long with the wash anyways?" Adel inquired as he scrounged around for his coffee mix.
"Hmm, good question-"
The two were then interrupted by what appeared to be a walking load of towels struggling through the door. An ash-blond mop of hair peered out from behind the load with aqua eyes and said, "Sorry guys, I dropped the quarters under the machine and had to fish them out." Lier then continued to carry the towels to the bathroom but tripped on a corner of the rug, which caused the towels to land in a heap all over Darren.
"AHH! TOWELS ARE RAINING FROM THE SKY!" Darren hurriedly kicked them off as if they were infected with the Plague, and clutched his heart as if he had a heart attack." I knew it would happen one day....doom by laundry." Darren gave his left eye a twitch and went to pick Lier up off the floor.
"Very graceful, Lier. I give it a 9.5," Adel remarked sarcastically while pouring some freshly brewed coffee into a cup. He carried his drink to the living room and watched Atiq flip through the paper.
"Anything interesting happening in the world today?"
"No, just that a group of old ladies knitted a scarf the runs the entire length of 42nd street," came Atiq's bored remark. "And that tomorrow it's supposed to snow."
"Hmph. I can't wait for that. At least if I get cold I can go ask those old ladies for their scarf."
Atiq smirked at Adel from over on the couch while the Egyptian started to enjoy his drink.
Lier came striding in from the hall closet and headed for the kitchen.
"That coffee smells really good right about now." And he proceeded to pour himself a cup.
Adel didn't think of it at first, but then he stopped mid sip when he remembered just what kind of coffee he had brewed.
"WAIT LIER! Don't drink that! That's-" too late, Lier took a sip and sputtering, sprayed it all over the counter.
"-Bedouin coffee," Adel finished and set down his cup to go help the coughing young man.
"Holy crap Adel. What the hell sort of coffee is THAT?" Lier began to pour a glass of water to drown out the taste.
"You forget what part of the world I come from. That is Bedouin style coffee. It is very strong, and most people except desert-folk find it to be disgusting," Adel flashed a wry grin at the young man. "I'd chance to guess that you agree with them?" and Adel laughed, mirth filling his olive-green eyes.
The day passed on into late afternoon, and the subject of dinner was brought up.
"So....what is for dinner tonight?" Lier asked from one side of the couch. The question was directed at his adopted big brother. The lean man flashed his bright green eyes at his brother and frowned at him, "It's barely 3 o'clock, Lier. Why would you ask about that now?"
"I dunno. just wondering. I wanted to know what it was so I can see if I want to eat it or go out and get something," He smiled cheekily over at Atiq. The older man ran a hand through his dark hair to get the stray strands out of his face. "You are a piece of work, Lier."
"I can cook dinner."
That particular corner of the room had been quiet for most of the day, so the three other men forgot about Darren in the corner.
"You know how to cook? I thought that you would be afraid of the spatula attacking you or something," Adel looked at Darren skeptically.
Darren's hazel eyes brightened as a confident smile replaced his usual frown, "Of course I can cook. After you've lived alone for awhile you learn to do a few things for yourself. I'll make a big dinner for you guys tonight. If I start now, I'll be ready by five." The thin young man leapt from his seat with surprising grace and swept into the kitchen, where all that could be seen was a blur of aqua and black hair as he moved deftly around the space.
"Darren never ceases to surprise me," Atiq stared bemusedly at his childhood friend. "One minute he's as loony as a squirrel in a room full of nuts, and other times he seems almost normal." Atiq rose from his seat and went to go assist in any way he could.
Lier smiled before turning to look at Adel, who appeared to be pondering a house plant in the corner.
"Adel....?"Lier ventured, "Thinking of anything in particular?"
Adel snapped from his thoughts and turned a neutral stare over at the young man, "Hmm? Oh, nothing Lier," he waved an indifferent hand, "It's nothing."
Lier frowned, "It's always nothing. Ever since you came you've been hiding something. You can tell us you know."
The Egyptian then gave a dark look at the blond. "There is nothing you need to know about me that I haven't already told you. I have nothing to hide."
"Your answer just now says otherwise."
Adel gave an exasperated sigh. This kid was smarter then he looked. His bright eyes missed nothing. He didn't feel like being interrogated by a moody teen all afternoon, so he got up and went for the door.
"Where are you going?" asked Atiq from the entrance to the kitchen.
"For a walk." came the annoyed reply.
Atiq watched the door close with a sharp click, and turned to look at Lier.
"What did you do to him this time?"
Lier gave a shrug, eyes wide with confusion, "I have no idea."

----------

Adel pulled his coat tighter around his lithe body and shoved his gloved hands deeper into his pockets. He would never get used to this weather.
The autumn afternoon was filled with the typical street noise of the city. Cars rushed by causing Adel to wince as they blew an unkind wind at him as they passed. He knocked into a few people, too lost in his thoughts to pay attention.
He felt more at ease as he entered the park, a large expanse of green fields and many trees lining the walkways. There were less people here and he found it pleasantly quiet. The golden leaves crunched beneath his feet as he continued to the center of the park.
As he sifted through his memories, a song came to his head and Adel sung it under his breath,

I think about your face
And how I fall into your eyes
The outline that I trace
Around the one that I call mine
Time that called for space
Unclear where you drew the line
I don't need to solve this case
And I don't need to look behind

Adel continued his tune as he came to the center of the park. A few benches were clustered around an ornate fountain. Adel took a bench under a lamppost and stared at the fountain without actually seeing it. He closed his eyes and leaned back, imagining for a second an expanse of sand, he heard children's laughter and felt sunshine. And he pictured for a moment, a bright eyed young woman, a gleeful smile on her beautiful face as she turned to look at him.

Adel smiled and opened his eyes to do some people watching. He observed an older couple walking their dog through the grass, and his eyes took on a sad look as he thought about what he could have had, yet lost.

Do I expect to change, the past I hold inside,
With all the words I say,
Repeating over in my mind,
Somethings you can't erase, no matter how hard you try,
An exit to escape is all there is left to find.

"Really now, Adel. Moping about something that happened over 5,000 years ago isn't going to do you any good. Especially since the first time you did it, it got you killed," Adel blinked and then frowned. "Now I'm mumbling to myself like Darren."
"HEY ADEL!" Adel heard the shout and turned to look at the blond figure running breakneck down the path.
"There...you...are....I've....been...looking..all over......for...you," Lier panted as he reached the Egyptian. "Dinner is ready," Lier said, finally catching his breath.
Adel rose from the bench and started off towards home with Lier.
"Adel?"
"Hmm?"
"Sorry, if I upset you earlier. I just don't like people hiding things. It's not good you know."
Adel looked at the apologetic look he was getting, and gave a bark of laughter at Lier's sincere, yet hilariously pathetic looking face." Forget about it. I just needed to walk off some steam. Don't worry, when i want to spill my guts, I will."
Lier watched a young couple walk by holding hands and frowned. Adel noticed and put his arm around Lier's shoulders in an unusual display of affection. "You miss her don't you?" Adel took the look Lier gave him as a yes. "Don't worry, another chance will come around. And come on, how can a looker like you mess it up?" Lier just stared at the wry smile given to him, he sometimes wondered if Adel could read minds.
Adel felt strangely happy, perhaps the cold weather wasn't so bad after all. After a few moments of silence Adel said, "How about you and I go pick up some dessert from the store for later tonight? My treat." Lier grinned and he and the Egyptian walked on in the autumn sunset, which seemed strangely brighter than it had an hour prior.

Close my eyes
Let the whole thing pass me by
There is no time
To waste asking why
I'll run away with you by my side
I'll run away with you by my side
I need to let go, let go, let go, let go of this pride,
Until this echo, echo, echo, echo in my mind
Until this echo, echo, echo, echo can subside

Wewt. Adel thinks about his past and Lier is annoying XD And apparently, Lier has been thinking about someone. I don't feel like explaining more, maybe in another installment if anybody wants me to. THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME WOMEN IN HERE. Boys cause too much trouble, a girl needs to get in there and whip them into shape. And teach Darren to cook better, because, FYI, he burnt part of the meal D8 he can't use a stove very well yet.

Lols. Who knew Adel was so

Lols. Who knew Adel was so funny hehe. They all are, actually. I'm jealous of all these family environments ;__; D and Shy hate eachother....I have such a lonely bunch XD You're right, you do need a girl. All that male sexual tension in one house? ohboy. -gigglesnort- Guess that's one thing to be thankful of not having ^^''

I can't help it. I have to

I can't help it. I have to write funny moments or it comes out all dark and emo. I still remember that one class assignment........it had to be serious, I ended up making the guy commit a very symbolic suicide :/

as long as the girl isn't Cato, then it would fix them XD Atiq just sits there and reads, Lier annoys Adel, and Darren makes things awkward. They are so messed up......but it's cute X3

*ponders about handcuffing Darcy and Shyla together to see what happens* C:<

I've gotta say what I've gotta say
And then I swear I'll go away
But I can't promise you'll enjoy the noise
