Ack, my account name. >.< I really dun like it, I only used it for Liëka's login name because iFailed and didn't realise you could get a different picto than the first one that comes up, and I already used Lieka (which is actually Artemis now, btw). Serpanther is totally nicked from a book: It's a cross between Serpent and Panther. It's going as soon as this blasted posting glitch is gone!
Yet the main hope at the very heart of the whole point of the Forest, peace and equality, is usurped. Please, you've had a good go at it, you've made everyone go OMGWTFAGUDIHADGBAGVBA, can't you let it lie now?
I think the only person I'm upsetting is you.
If you want to find something special find it on your own, like Ephra and myself did.
That's giving a fair chance to everyone.
I know for a fact it's not just me. And you ought to realise that that is no fair chance at all. That means giving extra to the people who a) have the HACKING abilities, and/or b) want to make other people jealous.
Equality?
This has nothing to to with an ability to hack or anything.
And don't assume I'm doing it for popularity or to make people jealous, those weren't my intentions.
I never hung out with anyone in the forest much since day one,
and so I went to find new things on my own,
and it just so happens I did, and even on accident! (;
But not everyone else can, and those will automatically look up to the people who can. Thus breeding elitism, and also promoting the idea of 'does' in the Forest, and as a by-product promoting mates as a checklist point. Which has already proven a bad idea.
I'm not saying you would've read all this into it when you started to use it, I'm saying this is what will happen if it spreads at all. And therefore, with all due respect and no offence meant to you as a person, why you should stop.
I'm perfectly calm, I view this as a debate, not an argument. But I think it's something that needs to be said, because I genuinely feel that it is something damaging to the Forest, and that it ruins the experience for both myself and other people who I won't name.
We are all genderless to begin with and just because my look has changed doesn't mean anything.
*I don't appreciate you making me sound like I'm committing some horrible crime.
I also don't appreciate you stalking me in the forest and casting antler spells on me, and chatting in public here, because THIS is how you get people to take sides, and start fights.
I'm not changing.
It's fair, and if you want it so bad go find it on your own.
@VCG: ...uh, can you read through this ? Save me typing out again. ^_^;
@Ravynn: Look, I didn't mean to come off that way in-Forest. What I was trying to do there was register that people didn't like it in the only way I could, because I couldn't contact you anywhere else, as I didn't know who you were. The thing I don't understand is your insistence that anyone can do it. Of course not everyone can do it, they don't know how! And finding out is obviously not the most obvious thing in the world, as people haven't. Also, I understand that no antlers does not = female, but about 99% of everyone else will assume so.
I'm trying very hard not to start a fight, I see this as a debate. If I come against a brick wall, I will go away. But ever since they community site was created, I have watched the Forest slowly crashing. I didn't speak then, and I regret that so much. So I need to speak my mind, now.
Look around you, though! People have been trying to work it out for ages, so obviously, it's not. If you're saying it's easy, then maybe you got luck, I don't know. *shrugs* But people can't, don't you understand? Easiness really ought not to be the issue here.
I wasn't here at the time, but I'd like to know if Ephra was picked on like this?
It is a fact of life that no matter what, equality just does not work.
In a college, they will promote equality, but there are always people higher up than you, whether it is official status or just social status.
In a work placement, there is always another person higher than yourself, and people higher than them.
In a litter of hyenas, the cubs are known to kill each other at an early age, competition, the runt usually looses out.
When I joined TEF, I was a nobody. Same goes for all newer members. People stick more with their friends than that default deer who can't communicate so well.
Inequality happens. This has been debated many a time in many places.
Ravynn has the right to keep her look just as everyone has the right to complain about it.
But harassment ingame and talking badly about that person is not very nice at all.
...uh, as far as I can tell, you did say both those things. *shrugs* I'm sorry if you meant something else.
VCG, I would say the same things to Ephra if she was here. It's only because she's not that I'm not. Also, The Endless Forest has always been an escape from stress and of the inequality of Real Life, which is the quality I'm trying to keep. If that goes, then I don't know what.
And, on the subject of your last comment, I would like to say this: I. Am trying so. Hard. Not to sound like I mean ill to the players of antlerless deer. I have never said an insulting word towards Ephra or Ravynn. What I am trying to do is explain why I and others believe antlerlessness is an incredibly bad idea, and asking, nay, begging, it to stop.
You can control your emotions: Choose not to take offense.
I'd love an antlerless character, and I even admit to trying to go through the files to figure it out. I was unsuccessful though. xD
But I think someone else we all know has figured it out. owo
*shrugs* That's the other thing I'm trying to convey. I say this not because of personal offense, but because I believe this to be strongly damaging to the Forest. Anything that stops the Forest being a retreat, haven of beauty, artwork, I will stand against. It's nothing personal, on either side. I just don't want to lose this... It's slipped dramatically once before, and I think that just one more slip is enough to finish it.
EDIT: Also, I need to go do something non-computer now, so that's why I'm not replying for a while.
Sigh.... I don't feel it to be an unimportant matter. It's just, the Forest is turning into a MMORPG, with the SAME problems, one by one. I hate it. But I'll leave it, and hope that maybe, maybe it will work out all right. But if the Forest goes down, then that's one less beauty in the world. The Community is already gone, but TEF was never about the Community. I just don't want it to spread to the real Forest.
