Copies of Myself?

Narcissus's picture
Everywhere I go in the "Endless Forest," it seems I find past copies of myself (of my deer, that is). How/why does this happen? Have any other TEF players experienced this issue? I have a fear that it may somehow be linked to how badly the game runs on my computer.

additional note: The deer that's lying down and has red flowers on his antlers is my current character. When I woke up in the center of the mushroom circle, I found myself face to face with a deer who had the same pictogram as mine and was wearing purple flowers in his antlers, exactly like mine had been 24 hours earlier.

You will see deer with your

You will see deer with your pictogram because they're simply nameless, or guest, who need to.. let's say, borrow yours to play. c: Everyone else will see that same exact deer with their picto.

It seems less and less these

It seems less and less these days I see a truly nameless guest. Always borrowing the pictos of others and the gods themselves. It's been a long time since I've seen a nameless without a picto.

Really? That's odd... it doesn't seem right to me. I thought the game was created so that only registered users would have the pictograms. Have the rules been changed, or is it just a glitch?

I know the first few times I played, it was as a guest, and I didn't see a pictogram over my own head. That was about six weeks ago.

since the new version I think

since the new version I think all the deer have pictos to make the code easier to deal with, maybe? So the 'nameless' always show up wearing the picto of whatever user is looking at them.

However... yesterday Oolong met HIMSELF - face to face - same colors/antlers/picto... just stood there. *took screenies but doesn't have them uploaded yet* >.<; it was fun.

It's a glitch about seeing

It's a glitch about seeing your own pictos.

Also I noticed when I tried to log off my deer to let my son be a nameless, in all other viewers I still saw the picto of the previous account it was logged into. Noticed this for several players as well who did the same thing and didn't realize they still had their pictos on, but their deer were actually nameless. Spells won't stick is how you can tell if they're nameless or just naked.

For the seeing YOURSELF yourself, could also be a glitch. I noticed if I have a few viewers open, every now and then, someone will look nameless and standing when they are actually logged in and sleeping. Sometimes it shows my characters with a completely different set on, or as a double. But in toher viewers it looks fine. Very odd glitches. M&A can't address them all either.

Oolong's apparition was

Oolong's apparition was actually after we spontaneously disconnected (internet issues here) and got back in - and when the pictos spread and other deer appeared he was standing there looking at himself. It vanished after about a minute though.

Ahh, that happens too. When

Ahh, that happens too. When you crash, the server takes a while (anywhere from minutes to days) for it to log out the avatar.

Ah. That makes sense, I

Ah. That makes sense, I guess. That did happen to me once, when my avatar glitched near the pond, and I couldn't get it to stop jumping and walk forward, so I just closed out the program and reopened it. I came back later to the same spot, and there was still a copy of my avatar, jumping in place. xP

Yep. that happens. Though it

Yep. that happens. Though it seems to be increasing in frequency for everyone.

Oh yeah--that happens

Oh yeah--that happens regularly to me, too. I even have a picture of it:
As you can see, there are two Spartaks (my buck) in this picture. It happens when I log out or close the game unexpectedly and get back in, resulting often in another me! They go away eventually, though...
