CHAPTER FIVE ~An Epic Story~

"SQUEEGIE!" Shin roared, standing over the side of the waterfall, legs trembling and heart racing.

Squeegie felt water pouring into his lungs as he gasped for air. "Not me... please not me... please" He begged inwardly, as pounding water filled his ears. He thrashed around wildy, trying to rid himself of the pain that was being thrust down upon his nearly numb body. How it all happened came back to him in a series of visions.

He and his mate, Poet, a delicately shaped light peach doe, had been talking about unimportant recent events and gossip on that sunny pleasant day. It had been a many moments later when Poet suddenly came to speak, "Squeegie, Twin gods know how I didn't notice! Have you been fighting, love?"

Squeegie hadn't fought with another deer ever since that time he had accidentaly tremmered a Seele's limphnode (welcome back ^^) in a simple playfight. Squeegie was taken aback as this remark was suggested.

"Fighting, love? Never" He stated accutely.

She leaned in closer to his face. Squeegie braced himself for a romantic lick on the muzzle when she suddenly leered back. "Oh my Twin Gods" She breathed, eyes wide, "You have it"

"Have wha-" He breathed in, a gaspy-sort-of-thing, and stumbled over to a nearbye puddle, almost bonking his nose to the bottom. There, very clear in statement, was a red dot.

Squeegie fell over purposely, swearing, his eyes a scared voilet. Poet rushed over to his side.

"Poet, I'm dying!" He exclaimed to her. She fell to his side for a comforting embrace.

"Dont worry Squeegie! Everything's-"

"Dont touch me!" He panted, scrambling away desperately, madness in his eyes, "You'll catch it!"

"I dont care, Squeegie! I love you!" She yelled to him, sinking to her knees. Tears were springing from her lighted eyes. She gasped, bringing up her hooves, which were covered in tears.

"My... my tears are... red!" She screamed. She thrusted her head up to Squeegie. And he could see, even clearer than he had seen himself in the murky puddle, a red dot under her left eye.

She looked at him once, her mouth slightly open, and then froze. Froze.

"No poet!" Squeegie exclaimed rambling over to her.

She fell to the ground in a heap, and it was then when he heard whispers from all around. Squeegie froze, trying to make out what they were saying. But there were many many whispers, overlapped. Insanitey filled his eyes. Squeegie then sprang back, and spun around trembling, trying to face the in-audible whisperers.

While his back was turned, sweat streaming down his forehead and back, he was pushed forward by something he never had the chance to see, and fell facedown. Although it wasn't smooth grass he fell on, he fell through a streaming mass of water, pointed rocks at the bottom piercing his skin. His head broke the surface, and he gasped in air.

"Help!" He hollered to anyone within hearing distance, anyone. "Please, Help!" He gasped alloud again.

This was when Shin had come into the picture. He had been scavenging the forest, looking for tasty delights as a mid-morning treat to snack on, when he heard the cry for help. Instantly, prepearing for running-at-incredible-speed-mode, he recognized the voice to be of his sister's mate, Squeegie. Poet talked about Squeegie countless hours of the day, and even though Shin didn't know the stag too well, he considered him a sort of friend anyways. Shin shot through the forest, locating the distance and destination of the Shin deer.

He almost fell into a stream of water, when he realized a thrashing body in the water as Squeegie. The current was strong this time of year, Automne, and he was smart enough to know that if he jumped in as well, the chances would be small that he would be able to get Squeegie AND himself out.

But all the same, he raced across the mighty streams edge, calling out to a flailing Squeegie.

"Squeegie, its Shin! Its Shin! Dont worry!" Shin wasnt exactly sure how he would get Squeegie out, but better not let the suffering stag loose hope. But, Shin realized with a gasp, there was a waterfall up ahead. No deer had ever survived falling down the waterfall. He stormed to the place where the water broke into a fall, and this is where the story leads ends for now. But long after Squeegie had fallen down the waterfall, and Shin had stayed standing there a few moments, did he find the body of his sister, Poet, dead on the grassy floor, beside a puddle of red water. And whos to say that he didn't notice the red dot under her left eye.
