I feel awful.

Hi, let's have a conversation. Deer or something, I don't care.
fayne's picture

OH LOOKIE HERE. It's Pan. You know, Pan.

Yeah, that crazy, psychotic, murderous bitch who kills everything in sight and eats her own spawn. This one.

Well, she's sitting in the forest right now, guaranteed not to jump up and skewer anyone. If you want to have someone nice to sit by, why not come and have a rest? Fawns and newcomers welcome. 8D Also, if your deer is similar in cannibalistic, homicidal tendencies and you join us, you win a good feeling inside.

At the Oak, btw.

She was once a true love of mine. (Tuna)

I haven't seen a soul dressed like this since I was born. Why is that skull thing such a big fad? Why isn't it this big tribal mask, the one that stands up and yells, Look at me?

The forest, being where it was, had already grown warm with the promise of summer. The cicadas once more took their place in the long grass, quite a few already launching into their droning hum. A black-and-white doe lay on the muddier terrain, breathing deeply in sleep over the rippling water of the river. The area was quiet, and peaceful. Until, however, a stag’s deep belling echoed over the expanse, and her ears pricked, followed by her neck craning upward to look about.

It’s so hot.

She shook her head to clear it, sending feathers shaking wildly, and hauled herself to her feet with difficulty. The sun beamed down on her ash-toned back, spotting it in light and radiating warmth throughout her body. The doe smiled under her mask. These were the glory days of the forest – while some wished desperately for weather changes, that brought variety and so-called ‘enjoyment’, it was when the temperature was that of a fire’s glow that she found herself most content.

But then there was the matter of her fur. Caked in dried mud and quite disagreeable. The creek was too narrow here to wade in – testing her leg shortly and finding it mostly fine, the long-legged hind took off at a canter, taking her time to feel the breeze wind over her skin.

The water’ll be cold.

Slowing within a short time, she snorted appreciatively as the crystal blue of the Pond came into view behind the willow trees.

Quick question~

So I'm wondering if anybody particularly wants to meet one of my deer in-Forest?

I know some people that I'm sure my deer would get along with, and even though nobody's ever made the request for them to meet up, I thought I'd just ask. c: Their circles of friends aren't very wide, lols. I might pop somebody in the forest if anybody is interested.

The Official Art Critique Thread

If you are here, you would either like to have your art analyzed, or would like to help people improve, yes?

Good. Let's get started.

A few ground rules:
1. If you want to bash someone, that's too bad, dunk your head in a fishbowl or something. While constructive criticism is what we're aiming for, anything that is seen to be flat-out rude will not be tolerated and this thread will be deleted after a good number of offenses.
2. If you are going to post something that is rather adult, please post a link to it instead of posting the image on the thread. I'm already responsible for plenty of lost innocence, thanks. D8 (Adult here means excessive nudity, gore, very harsh language, sexual themes, etc)
3. When critiquing a specific piece of art, please say who it's directed at. If it isn't the one directly above your post, it can get confusing!

How to post your art (more or less)
"-insert pic here-
This took about 2 hours in Photoshop 7. It's Oz and Desanm, humanized, messing around on the beach. To help with the skeletons I used this and this as references. Redlines are wanted, thanks!"

What constitutes a good critique?
[=10]"@Fledermaus:

I love the colors you used! They're very vibrant and the fact that you used different tones for the shading adds a lot of dimension to it. However, the composition is a bit unbalanced - everything major is in the bottom right corner of the picture, and there's not a lot on the left. While this sometimes works, it makes the canvas pretty empty here. Maybe you should try adding another subject?

and I'll be so alone without you...and maybe you'll be lonesome too. (T+M)

[=10]see the pyramids along the Nile
watch the sunset from a tropic isle

It was a warm day. At least, in the eyes of this city’s inhabitants, where even a sliver of warmth was almost never expected, it was so. Light poured into the large apartment through its huge windows, illuminating every surface and casting the room in a golden hue. Within this dreamlike space, a tall, blonde man appeared, blinking to accustom his eyes to the brightness, then crossing the floor to take a seat at the kitchen table. The place was utterly silent. Warm, chocolate-brown eyes only crossed it for a moment, before focusing on the thing seated across from him.

She only glanced up at him once, unable to keep herself from doing it, before returning to her book with a broad smile on her face. Christ, I could look at you forever. He couldn’t help smiling either. Her long fingers were holding a book down, choppy blonde hair falling haphazardly around her face as she rubbed her cheek with her free hand. He knew that she felt his eyes. Chuckling to himself, Masque turned his gaze to the window.

I don’t think I’ve ever loved anybody who was quite as easy on the eyes as you. Matter of fact, no, I haven’t. The woman’s thoughts were much more amused than tender when she glanced up at him. Still grinning widely, Tuna let her eyes roll over his complexion, finding much more of interest in front of her than in the pages of her book. After a moment, she gave up trying to read, closing the thing abruptly and resting her elbows on the table. Masque turned his head to look back at her once more. Try as he might, he found himself unable to come up with anything to say, and merely watched her, the corners of his mouth starting to turn sore. After a few moments of silent looks, the girl stood and made her way around the side of the table, to stop next to him.

Jumping on the train. :C And yammering about commissions again.

Tomorrow I'm going to pay 125 bucks towards a trip to NYC that my chorus is doing. Sad part is that this is my mom's money. Furthermore, my grandmother payed the first 150 dollars, leaving me with the last payment, which will be around 200 bucks. Which I don't have. Also whyyy I'm linking to this again and asking if anybody would be interested. D| I doubt I'll ever get the chance to do this again and I would be soooo, soooo grateful if somebody could help me out..

dA gallery's here. -wrings hand-

Okay so I had an idea.

Art critique thread.

Because the sheets of comments reading 'lol it's gorgeous' don't really do it for people who want to improve. :c So what if we had this thread where you could post a picture and people could have at it? I mean constructive criticism, not bashing. Evaluation that you could take to heart and improve with. :B Anyone up for it? I'll set it up if enough people would like to participate.
