A Day in the Forest

As I awoke I could sense that there weren't many deer in the forest this day. It was painfully quiet. Stretching my lungs, I let loose with a bellow. But still, it comes out as a fawn's cry! How embarassing!

Atleast I can run properly. I test my legs as I run from one landmark to another, happily soaking in the sights and sounds. But, I can only do this for so long before becoming bored. Always mischievious, I decide to give some sleeping deer a surprise. As I had seen other deer do before me, I happily chomped down a pinecone and relished in the magic it gave me. Finally, I found a suitable victim. A sleeping stag. I happily changed his antlers from stubby bumps to golden trumpets. Easily enough fixed when he awoke. No harm done.

Prancing away, I found a fairy ring. I had heard that sleeping in one could give even more magic, so I curled up. It took awhile to get to sleep, but it wasn't any trouble. Finally, a truly impish magic!

Soon enough I came upon a pair of stags walking together. We exchanged curtious bows before I cast the spell. The plainer of the pair quickly changed to a small animal! A laughed, but the other stag seemed upset. He reared up and I fled. Surely it was anything too difficult to fix, was it?

Un comfortable with said encounter, I found a safe spot near the twin idols to rest. As I drifted off I wondered if I'd ever see them come to life like some of the other stags talked about...
