Resurrection - Part I

"Dancing, they are dancing. Like always..."

"A gentle wind whispered through the field of blue flowers. Some of the petals silently floated down. The butterflies danced like always, the wind was just as another tune in their soundless music they danced after.

I watched silently. My shadow crept slowly around me, floated up into the air, around the treasures, that hanged high above my head.
Perfect silence.
Perfect peace.
No one of the worthless was disturbing it. No one here that wanted me to play stupid games.

Ah… perfect silence…

… that now was broken by the clacking sound of tiny hooves.
A single fawn rushed through the blue field, its pelt white as snow. Its head was lightened by a bluish halo. Obviously this young creature carried one of the god’s spells with it, that spell that the pathetic ones used to call ‘the devout-spell’.

Giggling and laughing it circled around me. I decided to ignore that little maggot. Maybe I will be lucky and it will think I am much to boring to share the magic with.

Unfortunately I wasn’t.

The incredible noise of the holy spell pierced into my ears, the blinding light took away my sight . I jumped onto my hooves, stumbled against the unbearable weight of the spell.
While I shook of the unpleasant spell, one or two words escaped my mouth, I may would never bring up in presence of young ears.

In fact I may wouldn’t ever bring them up…

I shook my head a few times, until my sight cleared up again. The fawn was still there, an innocent smile on its innocent face. It seemed my rough wording didn’t impress it at all.
I sat down again. I was still determined to ignore this devout-pelted critter.
It giggled and started to dance around me again.
It danced…

… and danced…

… and danced…

… and not even thought of leaving me alone.

Finally my patience ran out.
“Listen!”
I hissed at the little white maggot
“You can stay here as long as you wish , but please stop that senseless dancing!”

The fawn stopped, smiled at me.
“You don’t like dancing?”

There was something strange with its voice.
I couldn’t tell if it was male or female… fact, it sounded like it was both.
It sounded young and innocent, but as ancient as the ruins itself at the same time.

I was so confused by this voice, at first that I forgot to answer the question.

“You don’t like dancing?”
It repeated.

I cleared my throat.
“I like dancing.”
I replied
“But there is a right time and right place for dancing. This is neither the right time, nor the right place, little white.”

The fawn giggled again.

“You heard about the great ball that will take place?”

I slightly tilted my head

“Yes, I heard about it.”

“ Would that be the right time and the right place?”

Strange questions.

“Yes.”

“Will you dance?”

“No.”

“Why not?”

Strange questions.

I sighed.
“I can’t even stand a few of them romping around me.
Their noises… their laughter…
And then… look at me little white...
They only know me as The Collector, the face-stealing monster that lurks among the shadows, waiting for them to fall asleep…
… no.
I won’t dance on this ball, I don’t belong there.
It would only be a disturbance. For me… and for them.”

The fawn looked at me, with eyes, much too wise for that young face… much too… too knowing.

“But, you want to dance.”

It took me quite some time to answer.

The fawn waited patiently.
… I wanted.
Yes, I really wanted. But why?
… I couldn’t explain.

“Yes.”
I finally answered.

The fawn looked satisfied.
“Then you shall go.”
It decided.

I started to laugh…
“Oh young silly… didn’t I just say…”

It cut off my words.

“Sometimes you need to resurrect old feelings
To find your true self again
You need to give them a new name
To understand your longings

Sometimes there is right time
For a second chance
To be ones old self
Carrying a new name

Sometimes there is the right place
To see the light
Without being noticed
As the darkness

It will be the right time
It will be the right place”

A last giggle, then the fawn ran off like the wind.

I stayed where I was.
Confused.
What was that?
Was that another new game of those pathetic calves these days?
Asking stupid questions, terrorizing adults with silly nursery rhymes?
I snorted.
Silly little maggot.

I turned my head and watched its halo glowing in the distance.

… its halo?

I hesitated.

How long was it around me?
… I was pretty far away from the statues… and from any other deer…
How long did it run through the forest until it approached me?
The spell didn’t run out.
The spell was still there.
Its voice…

Male
Female
Both

Young and innocent
Ancient and wise

I jumped up, stumbled forward.
I started to run as if I ran for my life.

Male
Female
Both

Young and innocent
Ancient and wise

I ran the whole way to the pond, no white fawn there…
I ran to the statues of the twins…
No fawn.

But some worthless playing stupid games.
I approached them, they stopped… giving me suspicious looks.

“How long have you been here?”
I asked them without greeting.
I was too excited…

A few seconds passed, then one stag answered:
“Quite some time… “

“Did you see a little fawn here, obtaining the pelt of the gods?”

Again a few seconds passed
“There was not one single fawn with us the whole time.”
The others nodded.
I left them and returned to my patch if flowers.

Male
Female
Both

Young and innocent
Ancient and wise

It will be the right time
It will be the right place

But…

... will it be the right decision ?"
