Osmotious Diary enteries

Osmotious's picture
Left in the tall grass of the birch forest my mother runs towards the ruins. Curled up, I wait for her return bathing in the sunlight. I can hear the footsteps of others prancing by. Many deer call to each other a celebration? Is someone missing? Or merely just a roar of joy...?
I glance at the sky to see that the sun has shifted and almost all of the morning has passed but my mother still hasn't returned.

I stand and stretch my legs and look around me. Several fawn lay in a field of flowers while adults dance and prance about. It looks like a lot of fun, I'm sure mother wouldn't mind.....I glance back at the tall grass and see my brother Arcanos still lying there. Usually he is the loud, hyper, and playful one but he is still curled in a ball sleeping....waiting for her return. But it has been almost a day’s worth of waiting.

Bending down I nudge my brother to get him up. "Arcanos.....we are moving. She won’t return for us." Osmotious says. Arcanos's eyes open sadness filling them as he looks up at Osmotious. Slowly Arcanos rises and stand next to his brother. "Were will we go?" Arcanos asks holding his head low to the ground, while he scratches his hooves into the floor. Osmotious stands alert listening to the surroundings thinking of where they should travel to first, but his belly makes up his mind with a loud growl. Arcanos looks towards Osmotious's belly smiling and then laughs. "I guess we should find some food first." he says standing tall now. Although standing tall next to Osmotious Arcanos is much smaller. Osmotious's ears go down "Perhaps food is a good idea, then we can find a place to rest for the night." he continues. The two fawn search for their favorite tree fungus. Although Arcanos would rather play and run around Osmotious stays serious keeping alert.

While walking the two were greeted by many deer and fawn. Arcanos played with almost everyone and everything he came across. If it moved he would chase after it. Osmotious played with a few of the fawn but would grow tired of the games. Arcanos has so much energy he thought, how doesn't he get tired. Osmotious walked over to a nearby tree noticing the small fungus on the trees side. He called to his brother who ran to his side skidding to a stop, and nearly knocking him over.

Lifted his front legs to the tree and grabbed the higher of the fungus, knowing that his brother could not reach as far as he cool. Osmotious was much taller and thicker in size, but he cared for his brother. After they had their fill they wandered around the forest stopping to drink from the pond and then they rested under the willow trees. "I think we have traveled enough for today, why not rest now Arcanos." Osmotious said lying underneath the willow tree.

Months have passed by since their mother has left, all the while Arcanos has been gaining weight and Osmotious slowly looses weight. “Are you alright?” Arcanos nudges Osmotious awake. Grumbling Osmotious stands up, his body is on fire and his mental health is deteriorating. The nightmares that come to him every night are really getting to him. But it’s always the same scene. Thick fog and smoke swirl about blocking his airways. The sound of thundering hooves wake him and a large deer with a skull for a face moves towards him. The body of the deer is massive and yet not whole, he himself looks like hes made out of smoke. His antlers drip with candle wax lighting the area, and casting eerie shadows. The deer lets out a vicious and rough sounding roar. And every night Osmotious deals with the massive deer.

Getting up slowly Osmotious stretches “I’m fine Arcanos…just tired” he says. Osmotious’s eyes are sunken and his body is very thin, muscles and bones are slowly becoming more defined. Arcanos just stares at his brother not believing him. Osmotious looks like he is on the verge of death itself. “Well….Let’s head to the playground today, and have a little fun.” Arcanos tries to lighten the mood knowing his brother must be ill, but he wants to enjoy his time with Osmotious.
Osmotious merely nods and starts the long walk towards the playground with Arcanos running around him, jumping and roaring with the others. Every once and awhile Osmotious glances towards the others and his brother watching them play, but he has no energy or will left, he feels week. They stop at the pond briefly to get a drink and no amount of water can clear his drying and aching throat. “What is happening to me….” Osmotious though “Am I dying…..” He wades into the water trying to cool himself off, but every inch of him feels like it’s on fire. “Finally! WEEEEHHHHEEEE!” Arcanos screams as he charges in after his brother.

Ever since their mother left Osmotious has felt this need to look after Arcanos, and now with him being ill he worries over what will happen to Arcanos. But he hopes that the small deer has learned enough from him to survive, for he fears he won’t survive himself. “No matter what I do, I will die……” He thinks to himself.

Osmotious watches as his little brother runs around chasing after the other fawns, he knows that now is the best time to run. He doesn’t wish to leave his brothers side, but he knows that this is whats best for him. Watching him pass would be heart breaking. Plus his brother is friendly with the others and can care for himself. Although most deer will eat the fungus at any height were his brothers can only reach the lower half. Osmotious leaned up stretching his front legs and forcing himself into a seated position. He debated for a second of his leaving. Will he survive? He thought. Shaking his head and stretching his legs he takes a final glance back before running off towards the graveyard. It was late mid day when Osmotious reached the graveyard, the rolling fog greeted him, and passing several deer he bows his head out of respect. But he pushes forward with a heavy heart full of heartache. Seeing the cage at the heart of the grounds, he pushes his body through the bars laying down to rest. A small mew-ish roar could be heard, carried by the wind. His ear picked up by the sound….It was Arcanos, his brother. It hurt him not to answer his brother, but Osmotious knew he was dying and he didn’t want his brother to see him like this. The calls became more frantic and they tortured Osmotious. Arcanos was his light, his sunshine, the only thing that kept him alive. But the pain grew with each passing day and it was taking its toll on Osmotious. He curled up making himself small and fell into a deep sleep. His mind was haunted by his brother’s cries and the swirling smoke. It took several days of torture for Osmotious to finally pass in his sleep.

Finally the smoke of the night consumed him. Osmotious looked around the forest staring at his body and the bodies of others. Several deer run through the fog of the graveyard while others lay down for a nights rest. Osmotious pushed through the cage again and walked about the grounds Voices echo in his head, the dreams of others. While walking through the forest he passes by a small fawn sleeping in the tall grass. The sound of laughter boomed through his mind and it was a welcoming sound. His glowing eyes rest on the sleeping fawn and he decides to keep the fawn company while she sleeps. Growing tired himself he lays his head down next to the fawns. Once beside the fawn Osmotious enters the dream. It was the forest on a nice hot summer day, the sun shines brightly. He could feel the warmth of the sun on his shinning black pelt. The smell of the fresh running water and dew covered grass. His belly grumbled and the urge to eat took over. Leaning his head down he took several bites of grass, but his eyes grew wide with the refreshing taste that he was denied so long. Puzzled and starved he consumes a large amount of grass. Fully energized now he runs about with the fawn. She was a cute, small thing and she had a beautiful laugh. They ran through the tears of the crying idol all the way down to the pond, stopping to take a drink of water. The cold refreshing taste filled his belly. But the fawn grew tired and wished to rest, so they walked to a willow tree and lay together. But soon after they fell asleep the dark smoky fog that always haunts his dreams rolls into the fawns dream. Darkening the forest awakening the red twilight. The forest grows dark, bats soar and fly about and Osmotious is ripped from the dream. Startled awake, he is laying next to the fawn. She begins to kick and shake in fear her face scrunches and relaxes, but he knows that the fog is torturing her, just like all those days with him. He jumps up and tries to stir her awake. Nuzzling her muzzle and side, desperate to keep the fog away. She was so pure and happy. But there is nothing he can do, the fawn can’t feel his nuzzle.

He runs away from the fawn hoping that the further away he got from her, the further the fog will be from her. He returns to the cage passing through it but stopping suddenly and falling to the floor. His back foot is stuck to his body. Whipping his head around Osmotious watches his spirit slowly sink back into his body. He scratches at the forest floor as he is pulled back into his body. He lets out a small roar. "What is happening to me! HELP!" he screams, but no one hears him.

The next day Osmotious's eyes slowly open, or so he thought. Osmotious lifts his head feeling the heaviness, but it is dark, possibly night time. He glances about the graveyard and the small cage, which seems to be growing smaller. The strange voice that he's heard so many times in his nightmares reaches out to him again. The fog moves and swirls forming a large deer ahead of him. "You are born of my blood little one, do me proud." The deer said letting out a loud roar that contained the screams of those past. It was a truly terrifying experience and then he charged Osmotious. Quickly Osmotious closed his eyes, hoping to wake up fro the dream but he felt a light impact, and the fog exploded around him, loosing its shape. "How can fog be my father." he questioned glancing to the starry sky above. He stretched his legs and stood bumping into the cage. Red dripped down from above him and he was stuck in the cage he had grown. "How is any of this possible. After much maneuvering he frees himself from the cage and he sets off towards the pond. He wades into the water and glances down. His face no longer exists but a skull has replaced it, and atop his head sits a beautiful set of antlers decorated with red candles, that flicker in the night. His eyes glow a bright white light and he catches a glimpse of his side. His spine has grown and protrudes from his back as large spikes. He has become the deer that has haunted his memories so many years ago. He stomps the water causing it to ripple. Leaning his head back he lets out a roar, similar to that of the fog's. Loud and terrifying, but another joins him, cutting him short. His ears flick forward "They can hear me?" he questions. He runs towards the roar of another.

In the darkened evening Osmotious laid in the cage resting when he heard Sophia's pained cries, he quickly sprinted towards her. She needed him....he wasn't going to let her down again. His thundering hooves pounded on the cool earth's forest floor and he found her laying in the thicket with a small fawn. She's here....Freya is here.

Osmotious's Chest pounded with excitement, love, and all over emotions. He nuzzled and covered Sophia in love. Blue and another doe came to visit Sophia. While Lumilla had stopped by, Aggravated and annoyed with them became agitated and aggressive. Not wanting too Osmotious chased her off feeling very protective. Reluctantly he allowed Blue and the doe to sit near them, but he kept an eye on them. He was excited and nervous for Sophia and the Freya. they were both so weak right now.
What went from daily meetings, to nightly walks now are every waking moments spent together. But is his presence causing more harm then good.

Osmotious walks about the forest. His steps were heavy and the frost covered glass crunched underneath each step. His chest rumbles with a growl before he bugals loudly, screaming out making the forest know of his stress, the pain, his confusion.

Sophia growing worse with the passing days the fawn taking it's toll on her. lowering his head from his call he walked again heading towards the birch to rest. His mind reeling with all of the possibilities. If he wanted to be happy, then he needs to do whats right for him....for her.....
Has been spending a lot of time with Sophia. Wondered around the birch forest with her and laid next to her thicket. They talked for several hours, until the setting sun peaked Osmotious's interest. Gathering Sophia onto his back he carried her to the hillside to watch the setting sun and the rise of the stars. A cool autumns night snuggled together in the night, until they fell asleep.

Sophia stayed with Osmotious through the night because of the rain storm. While they slept he crept into her dreams unwillingly. Dam him for not hunting sooner. unable to stop Terror, he could do nothing but watch her suffer for a good hour, trapped in a painful nightmare unable to wake up. No matter how hard he tries he cannot wake them, he cant save them or protect them from himself. He is beating himself up about it and tries to put on a show for her that he is happy again. Her laughter helps but he worries over their friendship, no matter her pleas.

Laid with Lethe in the early morning hidden in the tall grass of the birch forest. When she left to romp around with her friends they nuzzled and he promised to seek her out later that evening. Went to the pond and found Sophia. Laid in the sun and talked for many hours with her until leading her back to the ruins to continue there conversation.

In the morning he meets with Shenli, already full of energy and so early in the morning. They lay near the twin gods statues for some time, until she attacks him playfully biting at him. She wishes to go fishing and swimming. Upon reaching the pond Osmotious wishes to show her the deep end where the fishes swim around you, the curious little things. In her excitement she attempts to jump On Osmotious's back before he leans down for her and she falls into the water. He couldn't help but chuckle. "Oh Shenli."
RUT-Osmotious spent the evening with Sophia. They talked and looked at the beautiful and oddly strange Sky. Filled to the brim with stars. Osmotious was entranced by the glow that Sophia gave off in the night light. Truly a peaceful and enjoyable night. They ended up snuggling close to eachother falling asleep under the stars.

RUT Osmotious Found Lumilla, resting alone in the forest today and decided to keep her some company. While she was sleeping he scared off a few males, didnt really require to much energy, they backed off fairly quickly. Later Lilitu found them sitting together and he greeted her and asked her if she wished to rest with them. Getting to know both of the does was quiet a treat, he rarely talked to anyone. After awhile Shahla and Cayenne both stopped to visit and rest with Osmotious and the others. Overall today was fairly relaxing for him. Minimal energy was used, except when prancing and playing with the does. He still worries over Lethe's where about, but with his rut in full swing, he can barely think straight, but she is still on his mind.

Osmotious spend a good portion of his afternoon with Sophia. Who he was very interested in. There conversations felt so natural, almost like they knew each other previously. It was relaxing, and he offered her to go swimming with him, until the grew tired and fell asleep in a sunny patch near the pond.
RUT Osmotious is feeling more of a desire for a doe, but has become more protective of Lethe. Was walking through the forest and played with a small doe, then ran into Shahla. Was tormented by two younger bucks and then Shahla came over and helped to tell off the little ones, Has a feeling they were her fawns.

Osmotious runs about the forest, resting with a few friends Kai and Lethe, but he continues to roam. He ventures to to the pond to get a drink and too cool his fur. His hooves sounding like thunder as he runs through the forest. Th pond is quiet today, no one is present unlike it's normal crowd. After fulfilling his thirst. He lifted his head water dripping from his skull. His ears picked and listened for others. He started his long walk back to the ruins, to rest in his cage.

*This was written for Pan's little ones birth, the whole event was beautiful.*

The sun was setting high when the roar of others filled the forest. Following the roars for some time he fell upon a love valley. From where he stood on top of the hill side he could see over a dozen deer were gathered. "What is this?" he spoke softly. They circled around something, but he was still to far away to see properly. He approached slowly over the hill side to gain a better look, but what he saw took his breath away. A beautiful doe was laying on the ground in the center of the circle her belly swelled. Few were allowed near the doe, while others chased foreign deer back. "A birth..." he thought. Osmotious continued down the hillside and laid down a little distance behind the circle which had been formed. He was joyed to have been apart of such an event, seeing new life being brought to the forest. Not only one but two. The doe did very well, and the father was looking prouder than ever. "Love and life, belong to few so cherish it long little ones." osmotious whispered backing away; seeing that the parents were tired and wished to rest with their young ones. "Until we meet again." he bowed and made his way back into the forest.
