The small black doe had scented a familiar scent on the breeze, of one she had not seen in some quite time. Sitting in her flowery glade, nestled against her mate, feathers grown so long that some of them touched the ground when she sat. She rose to her feet, burgeoning belly making the process bit more difficult than she’d like to admit these days. Her ears perched forward on her head looking off into the forest, she looked back to her mate, a questioning look, had he noticed as well? “Shall we go see?” she asked.
Moving off, she went to find her old friend. Trotting lightly over the forest floor, Herla spied the large black elk not far off, and had soon walked up to him, a smile on her face, “Alain, it’s so good to see you, I hope the forest finds you well?”
The stag turned his head to look at her questioningly as she rose, not too sure why he had to get off his lazy behind. But it seemed his partner had taken notice of something, and he too would recognise someone familair off in the distance. "Hm..? Sure." Could not deny her that one.
As she trotted in front of him, the dark irish followed her, quite less elegant in his movement. He let her go in front of him, let her have the greeting first. As the other elk turned to him, Gehirn gave a bow in greeting. "Been a while since we've seen you around."
Alain just walked down his hill and shook off his anger of his previous encounter with Corell. He lifted his head and took deep breaths. The air was full of scents, though he recognized them all. His head sunk again, it was quite some time since he last roamed the forest. The black bull made his way to the idol. Long heavy steps until he nearly reached the statue. Suddenly a sweet smell lingered in his nose and he turned his massive head around. A common sight made him laugh. A tiny black doe on her way and behind her, which is how it should be, the Irish.
Although it takes a lot to irritate Alain, he nearly dropped his antlers, when he saw Herla's round belly. He only could nod briefly towards Gehirn 'cause Herla already stood in front of him. Carefully he lowered his head and sniffed the doe. "It's a pleasure to see you again. All of you." he said and snorted amused. Slowly he walked around Herla and inspected her belly and her feathers. When he stood in front of her again he lifted Herla's chin gently with the tip of his skull."Congratulations." he said briefly and turned towards Gehirn. A deep bow. "Sadly, I was busy. Though, I see, you finally found to eachother." Although he was happy for both, he looked at Herla. "I hope everything is okay? You are just as small as Nevilly and I know the troubles she had with a normal-sized fawn. We found out that the poppies near the stream reduces the pain." Concerned as always, the big protector cared for the little doe.
The dark bull nearly fell over when he saw her and it was apparent to her it wasn’t just because he hadn’t seen her in so long. He stared and circled and sniffed and she’d blushed furiously in embarrassment, looking from Alain and back to Gehirn. She hid her flushed face by dipping her head, when he offered his congratulations, “Thank you, yes, I found him and he’s found me. A lot more of me now it appears,” she said looking briefly at her own belly and chuckling.
At the mention of Nevilly having difficulty with her fawn, Herla’s gaze returned to the bull, her eyes widened. All the color drained from her face. She tried to recover her composure, shifting on her dainty hooves. “Yes, I am well, I’m sure everything will be fine too,” Alain was only expressing his worry and meant well, but she faltered, before she could speak, clearly unsettled “She did a-a-alright though? Nevilly? Everything was fine in the end?” she asked, her scarlet eyes looking up into the skulled face of the bull, trying not to look too desperate. But it was clear she wanted, no NEEDED to hear a positive report from him on the matter.
