"...thoughts here...."

November 12th, 2015

Yes, I guess I can say I'm gone now. It's been 4 months and I've looked at this site maybe twice. I have absolutely no desire to go into forest anymore. Herla and my other characters are alive and well, though they don't live here anymore. I'm as happy with them now as I've ever been and feel much more satisfied with my creations since removing them from this place. I used to think that would be hard or impossible and if I left, I'd lose them. I laugh now at that, the best way out is through as they say, and then you wonder what all the fuss was about in the first place.

Health challenges continue, and part of that is minimized computer time since it aggravates my conditions to sit and type and look at screens. After a decade dedicated to digital art, I pretty much exclusively do traditional art now. Loving my Copic markers. It has really helped me to find alternative creative outlets like the Ball Jointed Doll Hobby. Starting to sculpt and sew too.

Please don't leave messages here, I'll be unlikely to see them. If you wish to contact me use the email below.

Please do not ask for any of my pictos.

"Hello, little miss. I'm sorry, but I didn't catch your name," the black-and-purple stag said apologetically, lowering his head sheepishly, still looking at the little doe all the while. Lifting his antler-laden head again, Reject tapped the ground gently with one large, purple hoof. "Would you care to sit, little miss?"

Herla scurried to hide at the approach of the white doe with the giant antlers. She was just starting to feel comfortable approaching Nightmare. He had seemed different and she had been cautious. She had been badly scared when the large red stag had struck out at her a day ago, and she was now mistrustful. A few large antlered does had also attacked her when she had come close.

When the white doe spoke to her, she kept her distance, choosing to watch the interaction a little first. Her only defense was running away on her quick hooves, being small in size and having no antlers of her own.

(Gehirn went back to his rude

(Gehirn went back to his rude self and stole Herla from Alain it seems. Sorry Alain! ;_;")

He was, in one word, a grump. A grump that was very demanding today, expecting others to bend to his will. Gehirn had always been that way, but one day he would be more rude as the following, towards strangers especially.
Today it seemed he did not enjoy seeing Herla next to some unfamilair stag, and he was successfull in taking his place next to her. Though he knew he couldn't behave like that forever.
He chuckled. "I am sorry Herla. I don't think I should be chasing stags away, hm? Or, well, he left. I did not chase... Anyway. Are you feeling better today? I remember you sounded a little off yesterday.." The irish had taken a habit in standing over her. "I hope you know you can talk to me if you want to." He added, though more in a whisper. Gehirn quickly took a protective role when he got attatched to a doe. As he had aged, more often in a caring sense, as opposed to a lover's behaivor.

(Hope Herla's ok! Seems she's not having an too easy time in the forest huh?)
Sighthoundlady's picture

(( I came back to my screen

(( I came back to my screen just in time to see Gehirn take his usual place standing over Herla, and Alain appeared to scurry off in a hurry, taking his other doe with him. Gehirn the bad ass. Gehirn is Herla’s ideal stag for THAT! LOL! ))

Despite herself, Herla was very pleased when Gehirn came to stand over her and Alain had run off. She had nothing against the grey stag, he had been good company, but Gehirn. Well, Gehirn was something all together more. And it made her feel wanted and feminine that he had acted to take possession of her from the other stag. She gave him one her more seductive looks, scarlet eyes peering at him through her feathers. Her heart beat hard in her chest at the sight of him. She had told herself she would control her feelings better next time she met him, told herself she should be angry with him. But she could not. She nuzzled him and carefully examined his wounds. When he voiced his concern over her she melted into him a little more, grateful to have his strong form over her. “It can be a perilous forest for a small, unattached doe.” she said wearily. Herla was more frightened then usual due to a series of unfriendly attacks that had occurred. She huddled under the black stag, trembling a little at the memories.

(( Don't worry Alain is perfectly fine. He didn't mind Gehirn's approach but he saw Nevilly in the far and collected Ryff to go to her. When he sees that a stag has already claimed a doe he isn't interested anymore Eye ))

(Demanding rude fellow he can

(Demanding rude fellow he can be, rofl ;_;'..)

Only when the forest seemed to have calmed down, and the deer playing around them had left, did the stag settle himself next to the small doe. He let out a big huff, looking around at any leftover deer that hadn't noticed his deadly gaze yet. Finally the stag shook his head, turning it to look at his companion. His gaze softened a little as he noticed those scarlett eyes stare at him, and a grin was born on his face. Atleast he had been honest, what she'd do with the information further on was up to her. Gehirn himself knew his relationships with others were rather open, Trees had accepted him as the stag he was.
"Is that so? Hm." He lowered his head to take a closer look at the doe. "Seems like it. Did someone hurt you?" His sentence seemed to end with a slight growl. He wouldn't just let that go by.
Sighthoundlady's picture

((Schutzgeist: Herla rather

((Schutzgeist: Herla rather liked Alain, he seemed strong. She is very attached to Gehirn but it’s complicated as he already has a mate and probably doesn’t have much right to try and claim Herla at all. She is very torn over it. So Alain doesn’t have to run away…he could choose to fight for Herla. She would probably like that. Eye Herla is the jealous sort. She doesn't mind being in a herd with other does too much, but she wants to be first in a stag's eyes. ))

Herla was mad at herself for being so happy that the black stag was sitting next to her again. He had told her he had a mate and she had been terribly hurt. But here he was, sitting next to her right now. His actions towards her had always been protective and caring. Wasn’t THAT what ultimately was important to her? She was so confused by her emotions. Whoever this other doe was, she was not here, Herla was. At the question about who had harmed her, she curled in on herself a little at the memory. The large red stag had turned on her much to her surprise and bore down on her with his large antlers, she had been utterly terrified. “It was a large red stag, I’ve been told his name is Saosin. I am a little bruised and sore, but I was quick enough to escape.” she said huddling into him. “I am so glad you are here Gehirn.”
Mis's picture

"Ah. I see. Can't really

"Ah. I see. Can't really trust all of the stags that always hide their face, hm? They must have a good reason to hide it." He seemed a little angry, a lower tone to his voice. "I am very sorry that happend to you, dear. Even more sorry I wasn't there to help you." He decided to gently groom the wounds she bore. Perhaps it would atleast lift some of the aching, though he had no healing ability whatsoever. "Feel better soon, alright? Not every stag here is like him, luckily. But not even I have an easy time trusting them." He admitted. The ways of this forest were odd to him, how such different species interacted. By now, he did not know whom was foe and whom was friend, and how to recognise them. Instead, he kept at bay and barely trusted anyone. Though he was glad to be in the little doe's company, where she had been a bit of a jealousy game of his when they met first, it seemed she had triggered his protective side.
Though he was aware, most of the deer he cared for in this way seemed to leave him.
Sighthoundlady's picture

For the most part, Herla had

For the most part, Herla had always had it good with most stags, she prided herself on how well most of them liked her and catered to her. It was a rude awakening to have one actually be aggressive towards her. So she had been shaken and scared. When usually she would boldly approach any stag, confident in her beauty, now she cowered and hid. The bruises to her psyche where more painful then those to her body. She had spent all the last evening, flitting from place to place in the forest, afraid of her own shadow. “I have been told I should be more careful, and I suppose it’s time that I was,” she said forlornly as he was gently grooming her, she had tender spots but he was being so careful and caring. “With you here, I feel I can rest easy. Last night was a nightmare of fear.” she admitted.

((Herla has no magical powers either. Rather plain, eh? I find "normal" characters to be more fun to play myself. They have to find REAL solutions to their problems, no magical fixer upers Eye ))
Mis's picture

"They have no right, to scare

"They have no right, to scare a kind doe like yourself. As if you would mean harm to them." He shook his head in dissapointment. "No, this forest is not getting any better, I am afraid. It gets tougher and tougher to find those few gems that are worth fighting for. It seems stags need to prove themselves being a man by attacking those that could never be a threat to them." He explained, a dissapointed undertone in his voice. There had been an awfull lot of unneccesary violence. These deer, in his opinion, did not know how to spread their energy. Did not know what was important. "Hm. Well, I guess being more carefull could do no harm. Though it is a shame you need to be at all. Don't worry, I'll make sure they don't harm you." Well, atleast he could say that for the times he was around.

(Quite the same here! No superpowers, I find it a bit silly myself. But I guess to each their own. I like my characters simple, they can develop by whom they meet and how they turn out solving problems. And not so much uhm.. Having magical ability's to help em out instead..)

PS, excuse my awfull spelling once in a while! Uhm, atleast I wouldn't be suprised if I screw up once in a while XD)
Sighthoundlady's picture

(( I prefer character’s

(( I prefer character’s riddled with faults as well as strengths. If a character always has the solution and can always fix everything, well where’s the fun in that? And you are right, characters are more fun when they grow and developed based on what they come in contact with. Eye ))

Herla gave Gehirn a pained smile. She knew he meant what he said. He would protect her if he could. And for that she loved him all the more. But no deer was all powerful and there would be times when she was alone. She tried not to think of that and enjoy this warm moment in the sun with the black stag. She gave him a delicate lick on his cheek, then nuzzled his neck. He had been injured too very recently, the thought paining her more. There where so many things that could take him away from her. “How are your wounds, Gehirn? I do hope they are not paining you overly much.

((And you are doing great with your writing! Especially knowing that you are not a native english speaker, that can't be easy! Smiling ))

(Yesyes! Faults are often a lot more fun to play out too.. Sometimes my deer can really suprise me, hehe. It's kinda fun when they take on a life of their own.
My english stays pretty dandy unless I'm also communicating somewhere else in my own language. Then it all starts mixing up..)

"My wounds?" He seemed suprised at the mentioning. "Oh. Those. Barely noticeable, but thank you for your worry. You know, it's more often the words that cause the harm. Bruises and cuts, I care less about.." Gehirn smiled slightly, a little worried perhaps. "No, these wounds are quite fine. They're healing. They don't hurt me anymore. Don't worry." Even with his big and threatening posture, Gehirn didn't seem to fight overly much at all. If he could evade it, he sure would. The stag rather intimidated the opposite side as to fight them. But even then, his temper would easily get the best of him.
It worried him though that Herla seemed to have so much trouble. She wasn't the only one, that he was aware of. Perhaps this forest was more hostile as he had realized.
"Hm... Please be safe, alright? I bet there are other stags out there too that would protect you if needed." He turned his eyes slightly to eye the gray stag not far away. "I doubt I can be around all the time, hm?"

“Yes,” Herla nodded in

“Yes,” Herla nodded in agreement, “The worst hurts don’t always show on the outside. I am glad your wounds are better…but what other hurts are not showing?” she asked, looking up at the large black stag, his large antlers spreading above them. She found she wanted to comfort those ills too. At his suggestion that she find protection wherever she could find it, she nodded. “I’ll be careful. I promise.” she said and glanced at the gray stag that had returned to the area once again. She hoped for Gehirn but she was not foolish, she would not refuse another stag’s protection, if he wasn’t around.

((Gosh, thanks so much Apeldille! I have fun playing my characters, I'm glad they can be entertaining to others too! I think your stag kept Herla company last night? ))

"Exactly." The Irish agreed.

"Exactly." The Irish agreed. He lowered his head slightly at her question, not sure if those were good subjects to bring up. "Ah. I guess most of us have been through that. Losing those dear to us, to death or due to arguments. Or perhaps even because of our own stubborn being." He brought up a smile, turning to face Herla. "But those are things... They happen. Though it is hard to let go completely. Then the pain just lingers." He stretched himself for a moment, looking around. He was glad Ephire had come to join them, a calm stag he found was easy to trust in.
Gehirn set down again, watching the environment. It was curious how everything seemed calm when he was around. Though, he would always hear the most peculiar stories upon his returns. As if the forest waited for him to leave.

(Woops, forgot to press save. sigh. XD)
Sighthoundlady's picture

Herla could see a tension

Herla could see a tension develop in Gehirn when he spoke of the hidden pains, it seemed he did not want to talk of it and she was fine with that. She did not like to talk about her fears either. She was very happy when Ephire and Virgil joined them. She could see the tension leave Gehirn as well and they frolicked for a short while like fawns. She giggled like a girlish doe at their foolish antics. All beautiful, strong stags they were and she felt safe and carefree in their company.

When a large skull faced deer approached though she quickly ran to hide behind Gehrin.

When Gehirn had to leave,

When Gehirn had to leave, Herla was very sad. She still had the lovely stags, Virgil and Ephire with her though and their presence comforted her.

Then the white skull faced stag approached them. Her fear spiked unnaturally. It was no deer. It was something horrible. Virgil too, she could tell was especially agitated. The thing walked slowly towards them. Virgil charged it, rearing and lowering his antlers. But it kept coming. They fled from it but it followed. Finally they thought they had lost it and laid for a rest by the drinkplatts. Then it approached again. Herla shot up, but Virgil was asleep. She called to him to wake up, she reared and shook him, trying to get him to awaken. The thing was coming closer. Herla could feel cold dread seizing her heart. She charged at it herself, trying to distract it from the sleeping Virgil. But as she neared it, the coldness in her chest made her stumble. It felt as if it was somehow draining her. Virgil finally awoke and together they raced off. She collapsed against a fallen tree, her limbs strangely heavy, they could not support her. Virgil stood over her as the thing came over the hill and slowly walked towards them again. Her fear ramping up again at the sight of it, and her energy pouring out of her so she could not stand.

Virgil told her to hide her fear and started to…dance? He urged her up, encouraging her to do the same. She struggled to comply. But she felt so weak. She managed to get to her feet, dancing weakly along with Virgil. And amazingly enough, the horrible white stag left. Just walked away. After he was gone, Herla stumbled back down to the ground, panting. Her terror was still there but muted. Now she just felt extremely weak.

(No subject)

"Herla...oh, sweet Herla, who did this to you?" Liam whispered as he fought to hold back tears. He curled up beside her in the shallow pond waters, tenderly preening her mussed feathers while he lightly shook with rage. "I...I cannot sit by and watch you get hurt. I cannot..." He squeezed his eyes shut and let out a shuddering sigh. No...he could not be weak. Not in front of her...
Sighthoundlady's picture

Herla was getting weaker.

Herla was getting weaker. “My sweet Liam, it’s okay,” she whispered, her voice soft and hard to hear. “I’m just tired. I just need to sleep.” But she felt very cold. She snuggled into Liam’s warm chest. “I just need to rest.” the creature had fed heavily from her fear. It had left her drained and weak.

((Liam is such a sweet heart!))

Uruushou's picture

The weak tone of her voice

The weak tone of her voice pained the golden buck greatly, and he shook his head softly as a couple of tears escaped. He curled up as close to her as possible, continuing to anxiously preen her feathers as his mind raced. He did not know what to do or think... What could he do? He was weak, scared and a coward...but he could not let Herla continue to get hurt. No...he had to do something. Anything... "Yes...rest as much as you'd like, sweet one," he whispered, placing a gentle kiss upon her cheek. "Do not worry...you are safe now." As she slept, he scanned the horizon line of the forest with skeptical eyes. Gods help him if he were to see Saosin or Zorn... He would not sit by and do nothing. He would make a stand.

(Thank you... ;_; I just feel so awful for Herla; she certainly doesn't deserve this. Poor dear... I love the voice you chose for her, by the way. Snow White is perfect~ c8)
Sighthoundlady's picture

Herla was greatly comforted

Herla was greatly comforted by Liam’s presence and reassuring voice. “Thank you Liam, for letting me rest on your neck,” she mumbled into his golden fur. “Stay away from him if you see him…the white stag with the eye in his forehead. He is not a deer. He’ll eat your soul.” she warned her friend. She couldn’t bear to see her friend hurt either. “Don’t be brave. It won’t matter.” Herla forgot what else she was going to say, she was too tired. “I’ll be fine after some sleep.”

((Thanks! I adore the voice actress that played Snow White. So classic and beautiful. Smiling ))

((And lol, Liam, don't be going and throwing your purse at Saosin, it probably won't go well! Haha! ))

Uruushou's picture

The young buck could not hold

The young buck could not hold back a grimace when Herla described the one known as Zorn. A soul-eater... He sounded ghastly indeed, and Liam's fur bristled at the thought of such a creature lurking in the forest. Chewing his lip nervously, Liam let out a sigh and rested his chin against her slender nape. "I am sorry Herla, but I cannot make any promises. Do not worry for me...I need to learn to stand up for the ones I love. I cannot hide anymore...I cannot run," he replied quietly, failing to mask the shakiness in his voice. Closing his eyes, he planted another kiss against the doe's temple and nodded slowly. "Indeed, you shall. I will watch over you, Herla. Be at peace..."

(Oh my gosh, I know; I adore her voice! I love how women sang back then; there is this innocent and care-free tone to it~ c8)

(Lol! Not if he shoves a bunch of bricks into his purse; he could get a few good hits in! XD)
Sighthoundlady's picture

The sound of two stags

The sound of two stags fighting startled Herla awake. She tried to bolt to her feet but stumbled back down to her knees. She cringed behind Liam. “What…what’s happening? she asked dazed and disorientated.

((The picture of Liam swinging a brick laden purse sends me into fits of laughter!))

Uruushou's picture

Acting quickly, Liam

Acting quickly, Liam supported Herla as she stumbled and looked up at the two feuding stags with wide eyes. "I...I do not know. The one with the skull upon his face...that is Lothair, a friend of mine. I do not know who he is fighting, or why." Cringing at the sound of antlers crashing together, Liam turned to Herla and gave her a gentle nudge. "Whatever happens, stay close to me. I shall protect you."

(Lol, me too! I need to draw that sometimes! XD)
Sighthoundlady's picture

It was two stags she knew…

It was two stags she knew… Lothair was a stag who had watched over and protected her on several occasions. And the other one, she did not know his name but she’d met the day before. He’d been kind and friendly. It upset her to see the two fighting now. She tried to call out, but her weak voice could not be heard. “Liam, make them stop!.” she was afraid one of them would fall off the bridge.
Uruushou's picture

Liam had heard her desparate

Liam had heard her desparate cry loud and clear, but he dared not move. It would be unwise to get between two feuding stags...he knew that first-hand, and had suffered for it. He did not want to risk drawing attention to themselves if he were to try to stop the fight...and she would be defenseless if he left. No...he would stay with her. "Herla, I'm afraid I cannot. It would be pointless... Lothair will be fine, I am sure of it," he replied in a strained voice, praying to the Gods that he was right. Lothair...

(Gahh, Herla don't, Darcy's aggressive! ;_; I'm sorry that Liam has to yell, but...dangit Herla, lol! XD)
Sighthoundlady's picture

((Aw, Liam is all protector

((Aw, Liam is all protector deer, so sweet! ;__; ))

Herla laid back down in exhaustion. The stags continued to fight. She just hoped neither one of them got hurt. She was tired of stags she cared about being injured.
Uruushou's picture

(Meep...on a side note, I

(Meep...on a side note, I would like to add that Darcy has a bad reputation of sorts. He starts fights a lot, and seeing as how Herla has been attacked by some stags recently Liam is being super-protective. So, he's not going to risk her getting too close to him, as annoyed as she may be by it. =/)
Uruushou's picture

(Lol yep, he's in

(Lol yep, he's in super-protective mode right now! He feels bad about acting like this, but he doesn't want to risk anything in case if the stag does decide to attack Herla. =/)

Liam watched the fight from afar like a hawk, and he sighed in relief when Lothair came trotting back to them. He seemed relatively unharmed, and Liam got up to nuzzle his friend when the monarch stag suddenly galloped back over to them. Acting out of reflex, Liam backed up until he stood over Herla and lowered his antlers slightly in a warning. He did not like this stag, not at all. "Stay back...leave the doe out of this," he said in an oddly low voice.
Sighthoundlady's picture

((Liam probably knows better

((Liam probably knows better at this stage. Herla hasn’t had a very good track record keeping herself safe, lol!))

Herla was frightened again, the arguing stags where right over them now. She cringed under Liam's belly.
Uruushou's picture

(Haha, so true! This should

(Haha, so true! This should be an expected situation, definitely. "Dangit Herla, again?" XD)

The golden buck's heart pounded in his chest, and suddenly he feared that he had opened an invitation to a fight. That was certainly not what he wanted... But it seemed that the stag was too exhausted from the encounter with Lothair to bother with the young buck, and so with a snort he wandered off to the opposite edge of the pool. Letting out a sigh of relief, Liam gave Herla a reassuring nudge. "It is over now...you are safe. I am so sorry that you had to see that... It seems that he had taunted Lothair first," he spoke softly, and then looked up at Lothair and gave a half-bow. "Thank you, my friend..."

My dear...Herla, wasn't it? Please...I apologize for my actions this evening. Despite what your...'friends' may have whispered in your ear, I meant no ill intent. I'm afraid I did not know you weren't well...I am sorry to hear it. I hope I did not cause you too bad a fright. Once I realized my...(sheepish smile) foolhardy attempts to impress you were only causing you more grief, I wish I could have offered more ...personal condolences. Your guards are stubborn (chuckle). I barely ruffled his fur, really, and he was the one who accepted the duel...but I digress. It seems some nasty rumors are circulating. Perhaps I should be flattered?
Maybe sometime, when your dogs are away, we can sit and have a chat like before. You have my word I would never harm a pretty feather on your head, and I promise not to...instigate anymore fights with your friends, if it does not please you (smirk). Rile them, on the other hand...

Well...Get well soon, little one.

The irish stag had decided

The irish stag had decided against jumping in front of some unfamilair stag today. After all, whom was he to decide whom Herla would befriend? Still he took it to himself to sit on a distance. Atleast he'd be nearby, in case something arose.
But it seemed Herla had spotted him, and came to him instead. At first the irish had a smile on his face, pleased it seemed she preffered him over the other stag anyway. Although, his smile quickly turned into a more worried expression. Herla didn't look like her usual self.
"What has happend?" Gehirn questioned, bending his neck down to nuzzle the small doe. She seemed exhausted. It didn't take long before she asked him to sit with her, and so he did. "Are you alright, Herla? You look as if you have been running all night. No offense, really." He quickly added. It wasn't the brightest idea to offend a doe.

Herla thought she had caught

Herla thought she had caught the scent of Gehrin on the wind, looking around she did not see him though. She stood and bowing thanks to Lothair for looking over her while she slept, she walked towards the scent. Her delight at seeing the big black stag was muffled by her fatigue but she never the less greeted him warmly. She was happy to sit back down again though. At his questions, she did her best to answer. “A soul stealing demon named Zorn attacked Virgil and I yesterday. Virgil saved us. But that demon did something to me. I feel I can hardly move. I know I promised you I would stay out of trouble. I tried. I really did.” she said nuzzling into his thick neck fur. “I’m so happy to see you again.”

((Yeah, it was drama central after you left. Aww, sorry you missed the fun. LOL! ))

"A demon?" He raised his

"A demon?" He raised his brows. "Just when I thought this forest couldn't become more hostile. Bah.. I am sorry I left." The stag let out a dissapointed breath. "I am glad Virgil was there though." Perhaps he should thank the stag later. He hadn't expected him to help Herla out. It was already a suprise for him to see him join them last night. "Hopefully a rest will heal you right back up, hm? He didn't hurt you physically, right?" The stag was already inspecting her features, to look for any wounds. But it didn't look like it. He had thought of deer triving off energy before, perhaps this was something like that?
The irish gently nuzzled his nose into her neckfur. "I'll look over you now." He paused. "Hm. Is there anything I can get for you? To eat, perhaps?"

(Fun doesn't wait for Mis. WEEEH.
Ahwell. XD)
