no one saves us but ourselves

" I'm sure you enjoyed yourself. "

Pulled herself back home shortly after one of her visits days ago [ haha, guilt ] and, albeit nervously, mingled with her newly returned family. Quiet and soft spoken with her parents until Sylph joined her. Noticed a missing tine on his rack and snorted lightly. Got a 'look' and immediately turned inward on herself -- if only for a moment. Commented that he must have fought hard to snap one of his tines off this year, and was told that 'the other guy looked worse'.
Believed it. Wanted to believe it was someone in particular.
Knew it wasn't going to be. But still.
A girl can dream.

Remained with her family for a few days, playing with her nephews and nieces who had come back with them, but grew bored rather quickly. Kids have too much energy and I don't know how to handle. So of course she delves back into the woodland she'd discovered weeks prior.

Surprised by the lack of action upon her return, but it was evident that things had calmed down quite a bit since she'd last stepped foot into the endless woodland. Questioned how time passed here, and then figured that was a waste of time in itself. The place is endless. Time is probably endless, too. And the weather? Day cycle? Absolutely random. Thinks of it as a good thing. Especially as she gets the hang of traversing here.

Tucked herself against a tree and remained. Content to people-watch.

Lowkey enjoying the activities that comes with this year's little event, even though the 'event' itself is something the doe hasn't been a part of. At least, not as much as others. Keeping to herself and whatever company that meanders over to her. Dodging strange males and dancing around the others.

Becoming aware that her world might be riddled with rifts after stepping foot into the forest a week ago. Knows what tree to return to her world from after marking it and simply remembering, but fears accidentally wandering through an a unattached rift -- which is a thing, according to one of her brothers who's visited elsewhere before -- and ending up in an entirely different world with no way back. Panicked a good deal a few days prior when she first stepped foot into the forest but was quick to realize she wasn't exactly stuck. Big difference.

Questions whether Sylph is simply trying to worry her into remaining in Eachover so they could all travel to the meet up spot their family normally migrates to this time of year, but isn't . . . particularly caring about going in the first place. Uncomfortable to think it may end up like last year. So to the forest it is, for the time being.

Sleepily dragged herself to a shaded spot and dozed for a time. Glad to be away from her chatty, younger relatives while they make the journey and she remains in the glade they call home for the time being.

Do not seek forgiveness, for it will not ease the burden.

It weighs as it should.
