So as some of you know
Zanny is aging in stages. About the 24-26th day of last month he ‘grew up’ and so I started him on his ‘mini stage’ which I associate around the age of 13 to 16-ish if converted to the mental stage of a human. So far he has been in that stage for a bit over two weeks now.
Now I am wondering when I should start him on his next stage at full grown size with the ‘two tine / Space Beluga antler’ stage. I am associating that stage at about the age of “17 to 20ish”.
The problem is that once he hits his next stage his cowardly ways will start to fade and he may start some trouble with other young stags. He will no longer be afraid of minis nor does. He will be a bit more braver when dealing with other stags and may pick fights with stags his own age but will still flee if he feels threatened. Especially if they are big antlered strangers! I have gotten so use to the scaredy cuteness I am kind of reluctant to let him grow up. But I do not want him to stay a fawn forever.
So I thought I would ask the opinion of those who know and enjoy Zanny when they feel would be the appropriate time for him to enter the next stage. Should I go ahead and have him grow to the next stage now? After all I hear there is a ’rut’ coming up. Although Zanny would still not be old enough to be actively rutting he may still attempt to be Mr. tough guy. (*Dies with amusement*) Or should I keep him in the mini stage for a while longer? How much longer would you think would be appropriate?

I have also been jumping between him having a humanoid face and a real deer face. Originally I had planned on him having a humanoid face. But most if not all his friends have a real deer face. Either way could work well for him. Whichever is chosen he will still have the butterfly mask but when I draw him (if I ever get around to it) I will go with either humanoid or real deer with the markings of the mask.

Ah yes the rut. Well so far, I'm pretty sure young stags like Zanny and Lucian, even when too young for their own "herd", are getting a good chance to bother those big older stags haha <3 I'm sure Zanny could participate just fine.
Hmm, well you could try how either works? Uh, not really good at that there XDD I imagine him with a humanface so. But you could draw both, see what looks more Zanny like? S'always good to make a few concept sketches before settling down with one look I suppose XD or ofcourse giving him the ability to change. It's a magical forest after all~

lol Well, he wont turn out to be a complete troublemaker (er - unless Reed teaches him MORE bad habits…) but he will be testing his boundaries like a teen / young adult would. And since he will still be a bit of a coward at that age he will only be picking on someone he is sure he can at least be a match for. As he gets older the trouble making will fade along with his cowardly behavior. Unless, of course, something In Forest or in RP makes him become more one thing or another.
lol Lucian! I figured Lucian would be at that age to be a decent challenge for the older stags. ^_~
Well, I am unsure of if deer do it… but young lion brothers will often gang up on an older experienced lion to take over a pride. Perhaps Lucian and Zanny could team up during the rut? Lol Would that be legal? I never joined in on the rut before joining the community so I am not sure of the “rules” even if they are unspoken rules.
And yah. I am just not sure which to do. I imagined him with a human face for a long time but as he tends to hang around more real deer like companions I have been slowly seeing him more with a real deer face. My deer “Atuutluk” shifts between a real deer’s face and a humanoid face but she is a natural shape shifter. I am unsure if Zanny will be able to do it at will himself. But maybe… Gotta think more on it.

Lucian has some ideas considering the rut and considering how to be of notice. Oh and, there will be rules for the rut! Vee and I are organising it this year so, you'll be hearing of that! I'm not too sure in the teaming up either, but since Lucian already seems to have made some plans to team up with Zach, I am sure he could team up sometime with Zanny too :X Or the three of them. Oooh. Evil. XDDD But it'll be fun.

But yah, that makes more sense that Lucian would team up with his actual brother. lol Zanny wouldn’t really be at the age for when deer really get serious in rutting anyway but he‘d be more in it for testing the older stags and himself. But he could still help be ’back up’ for the two brothers, since he looks up to both of them. He would surely be taking notes during the rut. ^_~
The stags he is closest to are his father figures, from mini stage on he is learning what it means to be a stag from them. Lucian, The White Stag, Zacharia, Reed, and even Aleit when he catches him on. What they teach him at his youth stages will probably shape what his personality as an adult will be like. Lucian, Zach’, Reed are the three he has seen the most lately so they have been a big impact in the passed couple of weeks or so. No pressure or anything, Lucian. lol
