Over the river and through the woods…

Yeesh, how far had Jack gone? Hard to tell, Jergens just kept his head low, taking in quick, short sniffs of air as to not lose that god-awful scent of blood.

Thought by this point it was almost unmistakable.

Jack wasn’t doing too well either, racing ahead of him and whipping his head back with muffled cries for the red stag to go faster, as his own mouth was packed with petals.

I’ll take as much fuckin’ time as I goddamn please, asshole…

After a while, the stench of gore and caked blood beat against his nostrils, his own ears folded back.

“Beeil' Dich, Bastard! NO TIME NO TIME!” he screeched, leaping into the air and running the rest of the way.

Jergens simply kept to his same, slower pace… a bit overly cautious. After all, knowing Jack…. It could be a trick to lead him somewhere remote and beat the shit out of him…

Jack had his own thoughts, though they were so garbled and panicky that it was hard to believe he could even manage to function normally…

MARCH SOLDIER MARCH!

“Hehe… aber…. aber…”

LEAVE THE STRAGGLERS BEHIND!

And with that, Jack sprinted on ahead, leaving the crippled stag behind…

And only making him even more paranoid.

The playground... the rocks. See them, yes see them?
Almost there, almost there...
His lungs burned... it felt like he couldn't breathe anymore...
Almost.. almost...

Hang in there! Hang in there, my love!

There was she...
… she was still lying in the place where he had left her. Broken down under the small 'bridge', next to the biggest rock.
Her gray hair soiled with drying blood, her eyes closed.

He crushed to the ground next to her... spat out the awful flowers...
Medicine, see? I brought some...

The white stag crawled towards the body of his sister.
His heart was pounding... what if... what if...
… oh gott...
What if...

… he put his head against her chest.

Ta-thump... ta-thump... ta-thump...

”Oh danke, danke, danke...” He closed his eyes, nuzzled his face into her silky fur.

He didn't notice the red stag approaching a few moments later.
… slowly...
… carefully...
Jergens stopped several feet away... He was still cautious. Who knows... what that freak had planned...
...the smell of blood was awful strong here.

Slowly he stepped closer, Jack crouched over his sister, it seemed he completely forgot about him.

Jergens bent down, carefully put the roses on the ground... and took a deep breath...
...well; let's have a look on that mess.

Carefully, constantly observing the white stag he approached.
He could hear Jack babbling something... he couldn't understand, he did not want to understand.
He was staring down to the small doe... speechless...
.. again this hate grew inside him... rage...

Blood... so much blood...
… what on earth had that bastard done to her...?

And why?

How could one beat his own sister up like that...
… so much blood...
How often did he hit her...? Three times...? Five times..? Ten times...?

Jergens glared down to the white. He raised one of his hooves. Another adrenaline push...
… it would be so easy... so easy now to let him pay for this.

Suddenly Jack lifted his head, hollow eyes staring into nowhere.
”Need... need to help her... we... we need to help her now...yes...? No... no time to waste....” he mumbled with a tired voice...
...uncoordinated movements towards Jergens.

The red stag's hoof sunk to the ground again. He lowered his head.

No time.
No time, he was right.
…For once.

”...Make yerself useful and start chewin’ on those petals…” he muttered, angrily taking up his own mouthful to much at, just to take all of his anger out on it.

Jack simply stared at his little discarded pile before taking up a large bite, chewing aggressively
The red stag craned his neck down, finding that the paste was pliable enough to work with.
Oh, but the white stag… he wouldn’t go for that…

He… he’s gonna kill her! Gonna take her down and KILL HER!

His lips curled into a face of sudden panic, and he felt like claiming a new prize from his precious work… maybe another eye or ear…

Calm down, Jacky… Calm down…

He loosened up a bit, shivering and focusing on chewing, eyes glazed over as if in a trance.
Jergens simply ignored him, carefully applying and spreading around the blue paste, his face being coated in a grotesque mixture of blood and medicine.

Gonna be Hell to clean this off…

As he went about covering wounds, he wondered how the Hell Rosine had been able to do this to him without throwing up…

After a while, he had run out of material to work with, and so, he raised his dripping face, nearly indistinguishable with the sheer gore of it.

”Well? Go on and make yerself useful. I did my part.” he stated, ear pressed back.

In a daze, the white stag looked over his sister… hm… much bluer now…

... he stepped closer... the horrible taste of medicine in his mouth... the sheer will to help Jane let him keep it in his mouth.

If he wouldn't do it for her, he had spit it out...

Carefully he applied the cream to her wounds like Jergens did. A little clumsy though, like he was fighting with himself about each movement...

… it took some time until he finally used up all his petals... immediately he cuddled up to the small doe again, his face no less covered in cream and blood.

”She will... will... will be okay again yes... yes...?” he was obviously talking to Jergens, though he kept starring at his sister’s face.

He red stag glared over. ”... hope for yew. Else yew be the one to pay.” He mumbled.

Suddenly he felt the urgent need to sit down... placed himself on the ground several steps away from the strange couple.

”Du... du wirst wieder Gesund, ja, ja... du.. du bist stärker als ich, he he... viel, viel stärker, ja, ja...”

('You... you will be fine, yes, yes... you... you are stronger than me, he he... much, much stronger, yes, yes...')

He kissed her, snuggled closer to her.

Jergens watched in disbelif. That.. that guy really seemed to care... to love that girl. But how... how on earth could one do such cruelty to a loved one.
He simply couldn't understand. Impossible.

… maybe... it was good he couldn't understand.

Suddenly the white let out a little scream, Jergens was back on his hooves in an instant, ready to counter any attack...
… Jack didn't move. He was just staring down at the doe.

Jane's eyes where open. The red one could hear her giggle.
Why... why was she giggling...?
He made a careful step closer to have a better look on her face.

She was smiling.
Why the hell was she smiling

He shook his head in disbelief.

”Gutes Mädchen... gutes Mädchen...”
('Good girl... good girl...')
Jack mumbled... an unbelievable warm smile on his face...

… Jergens shivered... for some reason... this kind of smile let that bastard look even more terrifying... he looked... almost normal.
The red stag shook his head again.

”Nein, nein, nein... ! Bleib hier, bleib hier”
('no, no, no...!' Stay here, stay here!)
Jack jumped up, Jergens lowered his antlers again.

The girl had closed her eyes again... her 'brother' started to panic again...
… up and down he paced next to her.

”Calm down ya freak. See? She's still breathing...”

Too bad it seems so shallow…

It was wonder that Jack hadn’t started to wear a hole in the ground with his incessant pacing… what with the way his hooves dug into the ground and were kicking up soil…
Some of which onto Jane’s body…

”Oi, crazy-douche!” he called out, keeping his hooves apart.

”Stop the pacin’, yer getting’ dirt on her…” he stepped a bit, though hesitant.
Jack lulled his head over to face him, eyes glazed over in panicky stupidity.

“Eh? Eh?” he looked down, only vaguely observing the wounds before plopping down next to Jane.

Jergens took a few more steps forward, though still retaining that same defensive stance.
”Look, she’ll be okay… I mean, yeah, it looks bad, but she’ll get better if ya don’t screw her up again…” while the words were reassuring, his tone was dark, almost threatening.

The white raised his right fore hoof. It almost looked like he wanted to stroke her head. He stopped in the middle of his movement. A strange look crossed his face, as if he was remembering something. He started to smile.
Yeha... right... no hands. No hands.

He looked up to Jergens, still this strange smile on his face.

”Thank you... Thank you Sir.”

Slowly he got up again, bowed down before Jergens.

”I owe you something now, Jergens. Yes... I do.” He raised his head again, nodded. The smile was still there, but it was different than usual. Calmer. Overall, his face was calmer than usual... sane.

Jergens simply stared, and frowned.

A trick.

Motherfucker was trying to TRICK him.

He leapt forward, wanting nothing more than to tear his throat, to mangle and maim him… but stopped.

Jack would just come back anyway…
So what was the point?

He lowered his head, shaking it slightly.
”Even if I believe ya in the first place…” he spat at the ground between them, ”I would never accept help from yew. I’d rather fuckin’ die than get help from yew.” he stated, lips pressed into a fine line.

And with that, he turned around and galloped away, as far as he could go. Just to get away from him.

After all…
His own work was done.

Jack snickered.

He knew that something like this would be his answer.
After... after all... he, he, he...

He smiled, his head sunk to the ground next to his sister's. He suddenly felt tired. Very tired.

”Whatever, Jerg... this is a covenant... I'm in your dept... if you want or not... he, he...”
He closed his eyes, fell asleep immediately.

The red stag was much too far away to hear anyways.
