Fan art in the game!

Hello there!
I am Margo Putzeys, a student Game- and Digital Design and I am currently doing my internship with Tale of Tales. I am still studying but I will be entering my Master year next schoolyear.
For my internship Auriea Harvey and Michael Samyn asked me if I wanted to work with the players and make models and concept art together. And with great pleasure I accepted this of course! This means you will be able to add art to the game!

But there are some 'rules' attached to this: If you make a 3D model, pleas send it as an .OBJ file to me. But a .Blender file ( Blender's file extension ) would be even better! But a .OBJ is good as well! As for the concept art you can send a photoshop file, PNG of JPEG.

So what can you make? Well it's like a set that the deers can wear in the game! This set includes: a mask, antlers and a pelt. Both made for the adult deer AND the baby deer. You can (if some of you know how and want to) texture these models by using a UV map. If you do texture them, send texture files as a PNG. ( PNG supports transparancy )
But of course you are never obligated to making more than you like. The meaning of this task is also for me to make stuff, so if you only would like to make the adult deer's models, that's fine by me. I can always texture them, add models, etc.

So if any of you are interested in putting your art or 3D models in the game. Send them to me and I can adjust them if necessary or take a look if something needs to be changed and so on.
You can of course also send your concept art to me and I can realise that concept art into a 3D model which may have a chance to be put in the actual game: The Endless Forest!

To be clear, we want Margo to do ALL of the modeling and ALL of the texturing. Because that is what her internship is about. YOU, players, are requested to send her concept art or point her to already existing concept art (on this very website, for instance). SHE can choose which concepts she models and textures. But WE, Auriea and Michaël, choose which go into the game. We hope there will be many!

There also might be the same design for red flowers, just with the red colour instead of purple.

Wow gosh Margo I have to

Wow gosh Margo I have to collect my jaw here. Really loving that one! You did amazing on moddeling the antlers, and damn that mask gave me shivers. Really good. Awesome design by Zungwood! Are you up for feedback at all? If so, I'd look at the black of the mask a bit more. It's very flat right now. Maybe some detailing like shadows and highlights would make it come even more to life! It also looks like the lines on the mask aren't entirely straight, and I guess that stands out a little.
But, again, really liking this.

Pegasicorn; I like the concept of it - as I said before I think?- But I don't see how I could realise this in 3D. It's not that it's extremely difficult. It's just the design in overall that I find confusing to imagine in 3D.

I agree, I like the colors

I agree, I like the colors and did see this set design earlier on the Russian community. The glowing effect is nice too, it brings out the color even more.

Very nice job you have done there, but I would also like to point out a thing. I don't know if it's just me, but the mask's eyesockets seems to be quite low, I don't know how the deer would be able to see through it. Maybe cut out a piece of the mask's forehead, and bring the eyes, nose and mouth a tad bit more up at the same level with the original face? It would probably make the detailing a bit more easy too, if the mask wouldn't be so long?
I don't really know anything about these things, so I might not be making any sense. But yes, I think you did a great job here, and I can only wish I'd be able to do the same.

Yea, I get what you're saying. I was having the same problem when I tried to draw the front view. The side view of the antlers is what popped into my head first. I have an idea of how it could work in mind, so I'll try to draw it out soon.

Thank you very much Nathahniel! It's a lot of work but I indeed enjoy modelling so, in fact I am having fun ;D
Do you also study something like Game-design perhaps?

To answer your questions: The deadline - I think- is the 31th of August because that will be when my internship ends. However I do not know if this project keeps going untill the very last day. So have to consider that as well. And about the line - art, I noticed that almost everyone is using the same line-art provided by Moss - I thought he/she was called?- so that is already done :3

@Margo -> Not properly. The high school I've attended had nothing remotely related to games, 3D models/sculpting/etc or even a photography class. It just barely acquired 'digital arts'. But I'll be attending a local college for some work towards graphic design and move on from there. The game industry, and 3D modeling in general interests me greatly, along with concept art or the possibility of just being an illustrator for something...anything relating to 3D or digital media really. But I ramble!

I'll see about tossing some concepts your way if you're not already flooded. The ones I've been seeing are pretty great too, and so far the images I've seen from you look really cool! Can't wait to see what gets to be included in-game! Keep up the good work! Again, good luck with the entire internship, and make sure you have lots of fun doing it! : D

Edit: Forum illiterate, don't quite know how to quote whoops I'll just put who it was a response to in the front, and posting via tablet is already a bit of a challenge itself, lol.

Pandoras: sorry if it look me long to answer but lately I've been answering emails and posts more than actually modelling

BUT, the Shepherd is really cool! But I'm doubting if it would end up in the game. It's really far from something 'deer' like. I like the idea and the uniqueness of it tho

The second one - Thresher- is more suited for the game. I particulary like the antlers, they are really cool :3

@Tuoho: Thank you very much! I took a look and you are right that the eyesockets are a bit lower on the mask than the eyes on the deer. I could try to put the mask a bit higher but it doesn't seem to bother me actually... So
